It was hard to sleep. I felt myself tossing and turning all night. A soft buzzing was all I could focus on. Last night we discovered the school was layered in a type of shield preventing anyone from climbing the outside. Teachers stalked the halls, making it impossible for Maximus to get up here, after the dorm check-ups.
“Do they normally lock the school down like this before the challenge?” I asked as we ate breakfast in our rooms that morning.
“They would, for those in the challenge, but it's never been a school-wide thing.” Ava added, looking as sleepy as I felt.
“What should we expect?” I asked.
“It's mostly just surviving in the woods, living within the elements,” Nora explained.
“Has anyone died before?” I asked nervously.
