A Web of Deceit
My sister’s eyes sparkled with determination as she sat across from Leo Gomez in his large office. They were an improbable duo, united by their desire for power and revenge and not by friendship.
"I want Alicia and I want her at all costs," Leo said, his voice soft and husky. "And I want Juan's business destroyed."
She smiled, her lips curling up. "I want Juan," she said. "And I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get him." Just hold on, don't destroy his business yet. I want him for his money and once I get close to him, I'll destroy him from the inside, and you'll do the same but from outside.
Leo raised an eyebrow. "You're willing to betray your sister? Are you sure you're down for this camla?"
Her smile faded. " It's Camilla, not Camla and Alicia means nothing to me," she said. "She's always been the favorite, the one who gets all the attention. " It's time I took what's mine and what I want is Juan and his money."
Leo nodded, a plan forming in his mind. "I'll make you a deal, Camla. " If you can get Alicia for me, I'll spare Juan's business till you want it destroyed. " But if you fail, I'll destroy everything he's worked for, I'll never meet again" he said firmly.
My sister's eyes gleamed with excitement. "I won't fail, and once again my name is Camilla" she protested.
The Alvarez were hosting a party and many influential individuals were invited. I had to do most of the work. It was harder this time because I had untreated bruises all over my body, and it was hurting really badly.
But as I was a slave, I had to put up with the pain and use my saliva to clean the blood on the surface of my cuts and bruises.
The night of Juan's party arrived, and the cream of society gathered at his mansion. My sister and Leo had planned their attack carefully, using the party as the perfect opportunity to get close to their targets. I was given a dress to wear. It wasn't so bad for a slave. It was all I could like, like the new clothes.
I watched as Camilla walked in with Leo, and I was confused. She looked different, and I walked up to her only for Juan's mother to give me a stink eye. She sent one of the butlers to call me and I followed them to where she was.
“Hey girl, you better stay away from my guest. " Do not make me feed you the dogs,” she said, making herself clear.
I nodded with my head lowered and waited for her to leave. I knew I wouldn't be able to talk to Camilla, but I had questions. What was she doing here? Why was she with a rich billionaire? What was she up to? All these questions wandered in my head.
I kept an eye out for Camilla and saw her heading towards Juan, sidling up to Juan with a flirtatious smile. She pressed her body against his, her hands roaming over his chest. I couldn't hear what she was saying to him, so I moved closer to him only for Juan to push her to the floor. He looked furious. All eyes were on her.
“Learn to behave yourself please, don't act so thirsty, it will make you look cheap,” he said as he walked away, leaving her on the floor.
It felt like Juan was not interested in girls. I had never seen him with any girl before, and he didn't look at anyone lovingly or, for starters, smile at anyone. I had never seen him smile before. Was he some kind of vampire with no emotion? I thought to myself.
Camilla's face fell, her eyes welling up with tears. She stumbled away. She must have felt ashamed and humiliated. I wanted to follow her and console her, but I didn't want to get myself into more trouble, so I stayed behind.
I stood quietly at one corner of the mansion when I saw someone heading my way. It was the guy that was with Camilla. Leo? Why was he coming here?
I thought of walking away but I stopped. “What if he's not heading here?” I tried to calm down and look away, but he came towards me smiling wide. He greeted me softly.
“Good evening Miss, why are you standing here all by yourself,” he asked politely.
I wanted to reply when I remembered Juan's mother's words. If she caught me talking to him, she was going to feed me to the dog or even place my hands on fire, so I decided to ignore him.
He grabbed my hands and I started to feel uncomfortable. I tried to free them, but his grip was strong, and I started feeling scared again.
“I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you,” he said, letting go of my hand and walking around me instead. I must say, you must have been created on a special day. " You're indeed very beautiful,” he praised, smiling widely.
I was used to getting compliments from my town, but I couldn't reply to him, so I tried to walk away, but he grabbed me firmly this time and I felt uneasy.
Juan appeared out of nowhere, his eyes blazing with anger. He grabbed Leo, throwing him aside like a rag doll.
"Stay away from her," Juan yelled, his voice low and threatening.
“I wasn't…” so that Leo could complete his statement, Juan grabbed him by his collar and told him to get out of his house.
Leo stumbled to his feet, his face twirled with rage. "You'll pay for this, Juan," he snarled. "I'll destroy you and everything you own, and I'll take everything away from you." This isn't over."
Juan smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I'm shaking in my boots, Leo," he said.
Someone tapped me and I turned only to receive a sound slap…
