Chapter 3

A New Master I had grown accustomed to the darkness of Mr. Sanchez's bar, the leering eyes of the men, the way everyone there treated me, and the cruel smile of my master. But tonight seemed different. Tonight, there was a sense of excitement in the air, a sense of uncertainty. As I sang on stage rethinking my life, I noticed that there was a distraction at the entrance of the bar. A group of men had arrived, and they were making their way to the VIP section. They seemed to be important people. Among them was a man that I felt like I had seen before, a man with penetrating green eyes and a strong jawline. But another man caught my attention. He was tall and masculine, and he moved so confidently. There was something about him. He surveyed the room, his eyes wavering on me before moving on. Mr. Sanchez noticed him too, and a look of excitement crossed his face. He walked over to where he was and walked with him to his seat, showing him respect. "Welcome, Mr Alvarez," he said, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Thank you for gracing me with your presence." Juan Alvarez's eyes tightened as he looked at me. "The singer," he said, handing over a suitcase to him. "I'll take her." I stood there wondering what they were talking about. I felt a surge of fear as Mr Sanchez looked at me, smiling mischievously. I could not help but wonder what fate had installed for me as I lowered my gaze and kept on singing. Mr. Sanchez smiled, rubbing his hands together. "As you wish, Mr Alvarez". But I must tell you she's not as useful as you think, and she's not that hard-working either." Juan gave him a death glare. “Do as I said, Mr Sanchez, and do nothing more. " I want to take her with me today,” he said. Mr. Sanchez bowed lightly and headed to the pantry, only to be stopped in his tracks. “Sir, you have been summoned,” a strange man in a suit and black shade said to him. Mr Sanchez followed the man in the suit and was led to a handsome man. He was a tall, blonde guy. He has beautiful green eyes and a light smile. The man in black shades handed over two suitcases to Mr Sanchez. “I want the girl. " I'm offering you double of what Juan offered you,” he said with a slight grin on his face. “I’m sorry, Mr Gomez, a deal is a deal. " I can't give her to you just because you want to pay me more. " You know I'm very straightforward,” Mr Sanchez said as he bowed slightly and walked away. It was Leo, the man with the piercing green eyes. "I'll give you a triple of what Juan gave you," he said, his voice smooth and confident. Mr. Sanchez's eyes widened as he looked at Leo, then back at Juan. He couldn't possibly betray Juan. If he did, Juan would eradicate him and his family from existence. "I'm afraid it's not just about the money, Mr Gomez," he said, his voice dripping with slyness. "Mr Alvarez has a reputation for keeping collections of what he wants, and he paid for her first," he said, trying to cover up the real reason for not collecting the money. Juan smiled, his eyes glinting at the corner. It seems he overheard their conversation. I stared at them and I couldn't help but feel that I had something to do with them. But I knew better than to speak out. I was just an item, a piece of belongings to be bought and sold. I was nothing but a mere slave. Just there to fulfill their desires and be used as a rag. Leo left the bar in anger. He felt humiliated. He had never been refused before, he swore to destroy Juan. Just as he was about to leave, a soft voice lurking in the corner called out to him. “That girl in there is my sister. " I can help you get her if you give me what I want,” she said as she slipped a paper into his pocket and left. The deal was finalized, and I was handed over to Mr Alvarez. As we left the bar, I caught a glimpse of Leo's face. He glared at us, his eyes burning with rage and frustration as he got into his car and zoomed off. Juan’s mansion was a huge estate on the outskirts of the city. It was a place of affluent luxury, with beautiful marble floors and magnificent crystal chandeliers. As we walked through the mansion, I could see the eyes of the other staff members lurking around me. It felt like this was going to be another hell. We finally arrived at our last stop. It was my room, which Juan opened with a flourish. "Your new room," he said, without even smiling. I stepped inside, looking around in the room. It was a beautiful room, but I knew I was still a prisoner, and I wasn't here to enjoy my life but to continue my sad life. Juan turned to me, his eyes gleaming with seriousness. I couldn't help but feel he was going to be more mean than my first master. "You'll be singing for me soon," he said. "And perhaps...you'll even learn to adapt to your new life here." I felt a bit scared after hearing this, but I had to keep all my thoughts to myself. This was my new life. I was lost in my thoughts when Juan yelled at me. “Hey, you're here to work for me and not spend your time daydreaming” he snapped, his voice firm. But before I could reply, a voice came from behind. “Is this the new thing working for us? " Couldn't you get something better? " She looks like what cockroaches feed on,” the lady said. I turned only to see her glaring at me in disgust.
