CHAPTER 2

Lora was busy preparing dinner and scrolling through her phone. “Oh my goodness!" This guy is certainly a demi-god! How can a guy be this cute?"Lora continued to speak to herself while staring dreamily at a picture on her phone. When there was a knock on the door, she immediately washed her hands and rushed to open it. She pulled it open, and her expression couldn't hide her amazement. “Tessa?"She called out surprise. "What are you doing here this late?"She enquired further. "Can I please come in first, Lora?"Tessa asks in a raspy voice. Lora sensed immediately that something was wrong. What the hell is wrong? She thought as she opened the door wide and allowed her in before closing it. Tessa sat on the couch, trying hard to hold back her emotions. Lora stood staring at her friend without saying anything. “Let me quickly grab you a glass of water to relieve your hoarseness. "I'll be right back," Lora murmured before hurrying to the kitchen. She returned a few seconds later with a glass of water, and Tessa drank it until no drop remained in the glass cup. “Thank you, Lora. I never realised I was so tasty."Tessa muttered. Lora nodded and sat next to her on the couch. “What's the matter with you, Tessa? Why are you here at this late hour?” Tessa sighed and explained everything to Lora, who was completely startled. How could Amila take such a step? “What she did was wrong, Tessa! I'm not trying to be supportive of it either. Tessa, I believe she was not thinking well when she agreed to offer him her body. You and I know she was starving just like you, and you don't expect her to be as composed as you!"Lora explains that she does not blink for a moment. "But, Lora, I can't stop myself from feeling hurt. I never wanted Amila to start giving us her body only to feed." Tessa mutters as she tries not to cry anymore. “You just need to let it go, Tess. Don't blame her too much, and I believe your reply would only hurt her more." Lora explained, hoping she would understand. “I wasn't thinking clearly at that time. It was a great shock for me." Tessa admitted that she regretted her reaction to Amila. “I understand you completely, Tess. That reminds me, I saw a f*******: ad and was going to tell you about it tomorrow, but you're already here." "An ad? "What is it all about?" Tessa enquires with curiosity, hoping for a positive answer. “It's a job opening advertisement. However, it is a nanny position, and I am not sure if you would be able to accomplish such work” Lora explains. “What? Of course, I'm prepared to do it. Lora, you understand how essential a job vacancy is to me right now. I'm willing to work even if it's as a nanny. Tessa spoke with a faint smile on her lips. "Alright then, let's send them your application and await feedback from them," Lora stated as she brought out the email address, and Tessa instantly began typing it into her phone. After a while, they sent out the application, hoping to receive positive feedback. ★ Jerald sat up in bed at 7 a.m. with his laptop in front of him. He was pleased his daughter did not wake up all night; otherwise, he doubted he would have been able to cajole her back to sleep. Jerald reviewed the applications supplied to him by his assistant, Clerk. He kept glancing at each of their images because it was extremely difficult for him to find the right nanny for his daughter. Finally, he decided on the lady he thought would be ideal as his daughter’s nanny. He grabbed his phone off the bedside table and dialled Clerk's number. After the second ring, the clerk picked up. Before he could say anything, Jerald spoke out. “What took you so long to pick up your call?" Jerald asks quietly, scared of waking up his kid. "Sorry, boss." The clerk simply said, knowing that his boss did not enjoy being delayed. Jerald grimaced and stated, "I've forwarded the nanny I want for my daughter to your email. Check it out and message her right now. She should arrive by 8 a.m., and if she doesn't, she'll be fired!" He concluded before hanging up. Meanwhile… Tessa and Lora had just finished eating breakfast, and Tessa was already planning to return home to Amila. Knowing she'd be so concerned about her. She had let go of what she had done, and she was aware that she was only doing her best to help her. "Tess, did you receive any mail from your application last night?" Lora asks abruptly after sipping from her glass of water. “I haven't received any notification just yet," Tessa mutters, begging secretly that the job should not be assigned to someone else just yet. “Why don't you go check your mailbox? You know, sometimes you don't receive a notice message informing you of a new email.” Lora said, and Tessa believed her words as she instantly opened her phone and clicked on her mailbox, feeling hopeful. She looked through it, but there were no new messages, so she decided to check her spam box. She clicks on it and sees an unread message. When she opened the message, she couldn't believe her eyes and ended up shouting. “What's it, Tess?"Lora asks, worried. She hoped it was exactly what she was thinking right now. Tessa showed Lora the message's contents without saying a word. “Oh my God, I'm so happy for you, Tess." Lora quickly pulls her in for a hug. “It is all thanks to you, Lora. "Thank you very much for this." Tessa cooed. “It's nothing, ‘Tess." Lora beams. Tessa then heard her cell phone ring and stared at the screen; it was an unfamiliar number. She clicked the answer symbol and pressed it against her ear. “Hello, is this Miss Tessa?" Tessa heard on the other end of the phone. Lora shares an uneasy expression, and Tessa says, "Y…yes". “All right, Miss Tessa. You've been accepted for the position, and you must report to the address listed in the email you received within thirty minutes. Note that if you do not arrive at that time, the job will be handed to someone else!" Tessa is taken aback when the call comes to an abrupt end. “I have just thirty minutes, Lora," Tessa spoke with wide eyes. “What!"
