Chapter V ~ Don’t touch

4645 Words
“Zack, are you okay?,” Zack looked up seeing Ethan standing outside the elevator looking at him with a worried expression. Zack didn’t answer and looked around, noticing he was on the top floor again. He had been so focused remembering what had happened the morning after he had been with Genevieve, that he hadn’t noticed the elevator had gone up again. “Zack?,” Ethan asked again, trying to get his attention. “I’m fine,” Zack simply said. Ethan stepped into the elevator and Zack pressed the button for the garage. Things between Ethan and Zack had been intense these past few days. As the leader and the second in command, it had taken its toll on the whole team. Zack has pretty much been on his own these past few days, blowing off some steam. He had been following a lead on his own, Ethan had assigned him. Mr. Wilson’s assistant, Mr. Han, had gone missing the day of the assassination attempt. It was weird and very suspicious. Zack was assigned to track him down. Noah hacked into Mr. Han’s computer and credit card records. Noah found some pretty suspicious things. Mr. Han had received ciphered emails from a German email address. Matthew, Skyler and Isaac were trying very hard to decipher the emails. On Mr. Han’s credit card records from the past 5 months, Noah and Ethan found something else. He used way more money than he could ever make as an assistant. But his account never went dry. Small amounts of money had been transferred to his credit card from a secret bank account. Noah hacked into the account and figured out that it was registered under a fake name. But Mr. Han’s computer history from the past few months showed he was the owner of the secret account. The same amount of American dollars had been transferred to Mr. Han’s secret bank account every week for over 5 months. It looked like he was being paid off for something. That’s why Zack had to find him. Zack had requested that Mr. Wilson not be told about this new lead yet. Zack wanted to provide results before telling Mr. Wilson. Zack felt the need to get on Mr. Wilson’s good side again after he snapped at everyone the other morning. Last night Zack had located Mr. Han’s whereabouts and today Ethan and himself would get some answers. As Zack was driving the car, Ethan sat next to him. It was quiet and the atmosphere in the car was intense. After a little while Ethan sighed and spoke up. “Zack, we need to talk,” he said calmly. “You already are,” Zack snapped, still mad at him. Ethan sighed again. “Please Zack. I’m sorry for being so angry with you the other morning,” Ethan tried. Zack just ignored him. After this morning in the elevator with Genevieve, he felt even less like talking with Ethan than before. “Please Zackary...,” Ethan tried again looking at Zack's annoyed expression as he just looked at the road. Zack sighed and spoke up. “Talk,” He simply said. “Look I get it man. She is beautiful. But it was still wrong even though she might have wanted you too. She is our client, just like Mr. Wilson. Remember our rules.... You do know it was wrong right?,” Ethan looked at Zack as Zack sighed and nodded his head as his answer. “I didn’t tell Mr. Wilson, even though I should have. If he finds out things will get complicated. So please just stay away from her and do your job. Be respectful towards her as well. Mr. Wilson is keeping an eye on your attitude,” Zack cut him off. “Look Q, it won’t be a problem with Genevieve. She made it pretty clear this morning that it basically never happened,” He said feeling a bit hurt for some reason. “Good,” Ethan simply said and thought for a second about what Zack had just said. “Wait... were you that bad?,” Ethan couldn’t stop himself from asking, knowing full well that women usually loved Zack's skills in bed. Without looking at Ethan, he hit him on the arm. Ethan let out a little sound of discomfort. “What do you think?,” Zack shamelessly asked. Ethan widened his eyes thinking about it. “Wow she is something else,” Ethan laughed. “Yer she is,” Zack said as his gaze softened and he smiled thinking about her. Ethan noticed Zack's smile and grew a bit worried. “You can’t like her, Zack,” he said gently, trying not to make Zack angry again. Ethan knew too well that Zack's feelings were off limits to everyone, including Zack himself. Ever since Ethan and Zack met for the first time, Zack had always suppressed his feelings. “I don’t like anyone. You know that,” Zack said and just sighed. Ethan was surprised that Zack hadn’t gotten angry. This was new behaviour from Zack. Ethan didn’t want to risk Zack being mad again after they just made up. So even though he had a feeling that Zack might be lying about not liking Genevieve, he let it slide for now. “Are we good Z?,” Ethan then asked. “Yer we are good Bro” Zack parked the car a few streets down from the apartment building they were heading to. He and Ethan stepped out of the car and walked to the building. The area in the city was well known for its rich families, who lived here. It was a well protected apartment complex. Ethan and Zack had to be smart about how they proceeded. Matthew, with Noah’s help, made a keycard which would get them into the building with no problem, and it did. They took the stairs up instead of the elevator because the possibility of meeting someone on the stairs was very low. As they reached the right floor, Zack quickly pointed out the right door at the end of the hallway. Ethan kept a look out as Zack knocked on the door. No one answered. He tried opening the door but it was locked. Zack put his ear to the door and listened. He heard music coming from inside of the apartment. The door was very well isolated which made it very soundproof. Zack concluded that the music must be very loud on the other side of the door if he could hear it and feel the vibrations of the base. Zack signalled to Ethan that someone was in the apartment. Ethan still kept a look out as Zack kneeled down and picked the lock. It didn’t take Zack long to unlock the door. He stood up and signalled to Ethan to come over to his side. Zack took out his gun and opened the door. He slid in first with Ethan right behind him. Ethan closed the door behind them and locked it again. As Zack had anticipated, the music was very loud. They moved further into the apartment, finding Mr. Han in his bathrobe, dancing around to the music, making pancakes. They hid behind a corner as Zack looked around the room to see if Mr. Han was alone or had any weapons. He was alone and Zack didn’t see any weapons. Mr. Han turned his back to the wall where Zack and Ethan were hiding. Zack looked at Ethan and smirked as he simply walked into the kitchen. He walked to the music speaker. Zack sat down in the chair next to the speaker and crossed his legs, settling in nicely. He then looked at Ethan whose head was sticking out from behind the wall, looking confused at what Zack was doing. Zack just smiled innocently at his leader as he counted down from 3 with his finger. As the last finger fell he turned off the music. Mr. Han got startled as he turned around to the speaker when it stopped playing his song. His eyes fell on Zack sitting, legs crossed, with an evil smirk and a gun in his right hand. “W.. who are you? How did you get in?,” Mr. Han asked in a shaky voice. Zack let out an amused laugh. “You have awful music taste Mr. Han...,” Zack simply said. Mr. Han didn’t say anything. He was frozen, staring at Zack's gun. Ethan figured it was time for him to come out too. “We are private contractors hired by your boss, Mr. Wilson. Now we just have a few questions to ask,” Ethan said as he walked out from behind the wall. Mr. Han looked at him, surprised to see another guy in his new home. “We found the ciphered emails on your email account. Who are they from? We are guessing it’s the same person who has funded your new lifestyle. We also know about your secret bank account. So why don’t you just tell us who you are working for? And why have you been giving information about Mr. Wilson to this person?,” Ethan calmly asked. “I don’t know what you are talking about!,” Mr. Han snapped. Zack was losing his patience and was about to get up from the chair but Ethan stopped him. Zack sighed, remembering he agreed to let Ethan control the interrogation. Mostly because Zack's methods could be a bit violent sometimes and they didn’t know yet how much this man had been involved. “Did you know that the information you handed over helped the assassin who tried to kill Mr. Wilson? Or maybe you just don’t care....,” Ethan said, but was cut off. “I don’t know what you are talking about. Get out of my apartment now, before I call the police!,” Mr. Han yelled, not realising he wasn’t the one who had the upper hand. Zack rolled his eyes, gave Ethan his gun and walked to Mr. Han. “I’ve had enough. You just pissed me off...,” Zack growled at Mr. Han. As Zack came closer, Mr. Han stepped back ready to run for his life. But Zack was too quick and grabbed Mr. Han by the collar as he punched him in the face, breaking his nose. Mr. Han fell to the floor in pain, bleeding from his nose as Zack ripped out a thick cable from the wall attached to a lamp. Zack grabbed a knife, cutting the cable free from the lamp. “Zack,” Ethan sighed disappointedly and sat in the chair next to the speaker. The same chair Zack had been sitting in seconds ago. Zack dragged Mr. Han by one of his feet out of the kitchen area to the middle of the room. Zack looked up at one of the 3 beams going across the ceiling. He looked down at Mr. Han again and took the thick cable and tied both of his feet together. In one swift move Zack threw the cable over the beam above him as he stood up and pulled on the cable. With all his strength, he pulled Mr. Han up from the ground by his feet. Zack wrapped the rest of the cable around Mr. Han’s feet again and secured it. Zack stepped back and took a look at his hard work. Mr. Han was hanging upside down from the beam. Even though it wasn’t a pretty sight considering the fact that Mr. Han’s bathrobe had almost fallen off. Zack was very thankful for the fact that at least Mr. Han was wearing underwear. Zack looked at Ethan and smirked. Zack playfully bowed to his leader as he walked back to Mr. Han. Zack knelt down and looked at Mr. Han’s bloody face. Mr. Han was looking back at him with a horrified expression. “Now let’s try this again. Who are you working for? Now remember before you answer.... I am not a very patient man,” Zack said in a very threatening low voice. “I swear I don’t know who he is... all I know is that he goes by the name Zero. I swear it’s all I know,” Mr. Han cried out, scared for his life. Zack looked at Ethan confused. They hadn’t heard that name before. Zack stood up and noticed a red blinking light from underneath the kitchen counter. Zack grew suspicious. He grabbed Mr. Han by the collar and pointed at the light. “What is that?,” Zack growled at Mr. Han. He was too scared to answer. Zack already knew the answer but he had to be sure. “It’s a panic button isn’t it?,” Zack asked harshly, shaking the hanging man. Mr. Han nodded. Zack stood up and walked to the kitchen counter ripping the little button off and tossing it on the floor before stepping on it. He made sure it was broken and noticed the fragments of a little microphone. Zack looked at Ethan worried. “My guess is that Zero has probably heard everything from the second this i***t pressed it till now. He knows who we are working for. We need to get everyone to safety. We can’t stay at the hotel any longer,” he said, picking up his phone to call Tayden. Ethan sent a message to Noah’s computer telling him to get to the safe house, point b, with Mr. Wilson and the others. Noah responded within seconds. Zack grew impatient as Tayden didn’t pick up his call. He tried again. Still no answer. Zack then called Genevieve. He couldn’t help but be worried about her. She didn’t pick up either. Zack looked at Ethan worried. “Go... I’ll take care of things here and meet up with you at point b,” Ethan said, giving him promotion to make sure that Genevieve got to safety. Genevieve was in the lady’s room fixing her hair, putting it up in a bun to get it away from her face. She could feel her phone vibrating in the pocket of her jacket. She took it out looking at the caller ID. It was Zack. She sighed in disbelief. Why was this jerk calling her? She didn’t want to speak with him, so she just ignored it. Took a final look in the mirror and walked out of the bathroom heading to the campus cafe to meet up with Tayden for some lunch. Her phone started vibrating again and it was Zack yet again. She got annoyed and decided to turn off her phone. As she walked around a corner, someone grabbed her lower arm and pulled her into an empty classroom. It was Elliot. He was a year ahead of her. This guy had tried to get her to go out with him since she started at the school. She had turned him down every time, but he didn’t take no for an answer. “You have been avoiding me. I don’t like that,” he said coming closer to her. “I already told you a thousand times. I’m not interested,” she said, glaring at him. She really didn’t want to deal with him right now. The fact that Zack had called her, had put her in a bad mood. “Come on Genevieve. Don’t play hard to get. It’s getting really old,” he said, pulling her close to his body. She glared at him. He would always do this. “Stop it Elliot. Let go of me,” she said angry, hitting his chest. “You don’t mean that,” he said with a smirk. “Come on, just give me a little taste. Give me a kiss Angel...,” as he said the word ‘Angel’ she remembered the night with Zack. He had called her Angel too. She remembered how sexy his voice had sounded. ‘As you wish, Angel’ was what he had said. She was pulled out of her trance as Elliot smashed his lips on hers. He was too rough and it hurt a bit. She tried to push him away but he was too strong. He had never gone this far and kissed her before. She hit his chest in protest but it didn’t help. She couldn’t get away. She started to feel light headed. She wasn't getting enough air. She struggled, her eyes watering. He finally let her lips go as he attracted her neck. “Please stop Elliot...,” but she was cut off by his hand in front of her mouth. She tried to scream for help but his hand was in the way. He sucked on her neck and she could feel how he left a mark. He stopped and whispered in her ear. “Now you belong to me,” he removed his hand from her mouth and kissed her again, forcing his tongue inside her mouth. Tears started to run down her cheeks as he pushed her against the wall, letting his body weight keep her in place. He let one of his hands run up her inner thigh as he spread her legs. He placed one of his legs between hers to keep them apart. He grabbed both of her beasts with his hands and massaged them harshly. It really hurt. She panicked and with all her strength she managed to push him back and hit him in the face. As he stumbled back, she ran out of the classroom as fast as she could. Tears were still running down her cheeks. She heard Elliot yell after her and she ran even faster. She ran out of the front door of the school. She just needed to get out of there. But something stopped her. A hand grabbed her arm and she was pulled to a hard chest. “No. Let go of me. Don’t you dare touch me!,” she yelled and hit the chest with her small fist. “Genevieve, stop it,” she heard a familiar voice say. She paused in her attempt to get away and looked up. It was Zack. He looked surprised at her red eyes and her scared expression. “Genevieve!,” another male voice called as he came out of the school. It was Elliot. Genevieve looked at him with fear in her eyes. Zack noticed. He was confused as to why she was so upset right until he noticed something on her neck. A red and purple mark. He hadn’t left it there himself and it definitely wasn’t there this morning. Zack held a hand around her waist to keep her close as he brushed his finger over the mark on her neck. She looked at his face as she could see the anger building up in his eyes. He looked her dead in the eye, making her flinch. “Did he force himself on you?,” he asked in a dangerously low tone. A tear ran down her cheek and he knew the answer. He let go of her as he walked straight up to Elliot with a terrifying look in his eyes. “You forced yourself on her,” he snapped angrily. Elliot just looked arrogantly at him. They were about the same height but Zack was way more muscular. People were starting to gather around to watch the show. Tayden showed up behind Genevieve. “There you are. I’ve been looking everywhere for you,” he said with a smile but that soon disappeared when he noticed her tears and his eyes fell on Zack. “Wait, what is going on?,” He asked, confused. Genevieve didn’t answer, she just looked at Zack. “Luckily for you, I don’t have time to deal with you right now. But if you ever, so much as put a finger on her again, you’ll regret it,” Zack said as he glared at Elliot. Zack turned around wanting nothing more than to beat the guy to death, but he couldn’t. They were on school grounds and he still had to get Genevieve to safety. He would have to deal with him another day. Zack was definitely not letting him get away with this. Zack started walking towards Genevieve and Tayden. “Yer!!! Who the hell do you think you are?,” Elliot yelled and Zack turned around smirking. “I’m sure you would like to know that. But unfortunately I don’t see the point,” Zack said arrogantly and bowed playfully, still smirking at Elliot. This way of humiliating Elliot, really pissed Elliot off. Zack turned around and walked towards Genevieve and Tayden again. He looked at Genevieve and winked with a smile on his face. She tilted her head confused, wiping away the last of her tears. Zack showed Tayden and Genevieve 3 fingers as he slowly let them fall one by one. “Oh god,” Tayden said nervously. “What? What is he going to do?,” she asked, confused as the last one of his fingers fell. Elliot started running towards Zack furiously, ready to strike him down. “Oh god. Zack is making sure that Elliot makes the first move. This is the school grounds,” Tayden admitted. Zack didn’t turn around to front Elliot who was storming towards him, and instead winked at Genevieve again. She grew a bit nervous as she was worried Zack might get hurt. But she should have known better. As Elliot reached Zack, ready to tackle him. Zack simply ducked out of the way. Zack buckles leg with Elliot to make him fall. He fell in front of Genevieve. Only a few meters from her. Zack placed a foot on Elliot’s back, taking his right arm in his strong grip, breaking it backwards. Elliot screamed out in pain and Zack smirked amused at how weak he was. Zack held his arm placed right before its breaking point. Zack lowered his face down and started speaking so only Elliot could hear him. “I know how easily you can get lost in her presence. Only a fool wouldn’t notice how sexy she is. Trust me when I say this. She is even more beautiful without clothes,” Zack paused and looked up at Genevieve who was watching confused, not being able to hear what he had said. Zack gave her a smile and looked back down at Elliot. “You have been with her?,” He whispered against the ground. Zack tightened his grip on his arm, earning a whimper of pain from him. “I think you already know the answer to that question. Touch her again and I’ll break both of your arms. Maybe cut off some of your fingers. I haven’t decided yet,” Zack growled and spoke just loud enough so Genevieve and Tayden could hear him. Zack let go of Elliot and walked to Genevieve. He grabbed her hand in his and walked off, not sparing Elliot a second glance. Tayden walked beside Zack and gave him Genevieve’s bag. Tayden had been at the campus cafe when he finally picked up Zack's fourth call. Zack explained the situation and told him to go find Genevieve. Zack had said he was on his way to meet him out front with Genevieve. Tayden wasn’t able to find Genevieve anywhere as he picked up her bag from her classroom. He ran out front to meet up with Zack so he could help. That was when he saw the upset Genevieve. “Tay you go pick up Ethan at the address I texted you. I’ll take Genevieve with me. See you at point b,” Zack ordered. Tayden went to his car and Zack dragged Genevieve to his. She just followed confused behind him, not knowing what was going on. He let go of her hand and opened the car door for her as she got in the car. He took the seat belt for her and reached over to plug it in. “I can put on my own seat belt, thank you,” she said annoyed. He paused right before he plugged it in and turned his face to hers. He was so close. Their noses were almost touching. He couldn’t help but look at her lips as he plugged the seat belt in. He came a bit closer without realising it. “Zack please stop,” she said in a weak voice. He noticed that he was moving closer and stopped. He blinked his eyes, confused. Why did he just do that? His body was moving on its own. He moved away and looked at her expression. She still looked terrified. She wasn’t supposed to be scared when she was with him. He was one of her protectors. Besides, they had already been together. Zack knew he had been respectful while in bed with her. He moved his hand up to her cheek. As soon as his fingertips touched her skin she flinched. He felt hurt by her reaction for some reason. He moved his hand back and closed his eyes and sighed. He blamed that i***t who forced himself on her. He couldn’t help but feel bad for her. Who knows what that jerk did to her. “He’ll pay for this,” he whispered before closing her car door and walking to his seat. As soon as Zack started driving, Genevieve took a deep breath before she spoke. “What’s going on? What are you doing here? And where are we going?,” she asked, confused. He looked at her for a second before he sighed. He held one finger up before he started speaking. “One. What is going on? The answer is I can’t tell you right now,” he lifted a second finger as he kept his eyes on the road. “Two. I’m here to pick you up, and you are lucky I did,” he glanced at her neck and the mark. As she noticed he looked at it she covered it up with her hand. He showed a third finger as he looked back at the road. “Three. We are going to a place called point b. It’s a safe house outside of the city. The other guys are bringing your dad, so don’t worry,” he finished off what he wanted to say. A few minutes went by in silence before he spoke up again. “Give me your phone,” he said with a stern voice. “Why?,” she asked, confused looking at him. “Just give it to me,” he said, annoyed, holding out his hand. She took out her phone and put it in his hand. He looked at it and realised it was turned off. Anger boiled up inside him. “Is that why you didn’t answer my calls?,” he snapped angrily. She flinched a bit. The anger boiled up inside of her too as she decided she would give him a piece of her mind. “Yes I avoided your calls. And yes, I turned off my phone because I didn’t want to speak with you. If you haven't already noticed it, you ain’t exactly my favourite person right now,” she snapped back. He was quiet for a minute or two as he tried to calm down before he spoke again. “Genevieve you can hate me all you want but don’t turn off your phone. What if something had happened? Your life is in danger right now, and it is my job to protect you,” he said gently and wanted so badly to reach out and hold her shaky hand. But he didn’t touch her. He would never touch her again. He had to keep himself away from her.
