“Let’s park the car at my place. I know a nice little Italian place not far from there,” Genevieve said with a sweet smile as Zack drove away from the restaurant. “Sure,” he said, taking her hand in his. He was thankful that she had taken over. This date thing has been a disaster so far. He didn’t understand where it had gone wrong. He had checked off all of the things on his ‘perfect date’ list. A list he didn’t even know he had made in his head. It must have been all of those stupid romantic-comedy movies he was forced to watch by the other boys. The stupid movies must have runed him. The list didn’t even work, so why had he been so obsessed with following it? The list clearly popped up in his mind again. He had dressed nicely. He picked her up in a nice car. He took her to the art convention and he had taken her to the nicest restaurant he could find. So check, check, check and check. He didn’t like any of it himself, except for the car. He had done it all for her and yet it blew up in his face like a C4 landmine. He looked at her and she looked so excited. That made him forget about his stupid plans. That was the expression he was hoping she would have had.
They parked the car and walked hand in hand through the deemed lighted streets. They reached a little restaurant on a corner of two streets and she guided him inside. “Hey, Giovanni. It's nice to see you,” she said to a little short man with gray hair and a little mustache. “Oh, you brought your Fidanzato,” he said in an Italian accent, reaching out, taking Zack's hand in his. He clapped on top of it lightly looking into Zack's eyes for a second. “Oh yes. Beautiful small Bambinos,” he said before letting go of Zack's hand. Zack looked confused at Genevieve. She just kissed his cheek and showed him to a table. The restaurant was almost empty. Only an old married couple was sitting a few tables down. Giovanni came and placed a menu card in Zack's hand. “What is your name, Young man?,” he then asked Zack. “Hayes. Zack Hayes,” Zack answered politely, still confused about what the man had said before. “Oh Yes very good,” Giovanni said before looking at Genevieve smiling. “A very strong name. Keep this one,” he said and winked at her. She giggled and looked at Zack's confused expression. Giovanni then walked away. “Wait a second. Does Fidanzato mean boyfriend?,” Zack asked, confused. “I think so,” she giggled. “And Bambinos means children right,” he asked. She just nodded with a smile as he put two and two together. “So he called me your boyfriend and then said our children will be beautiful. Wow, that is some weird restaurant owner,” Zack then said, smiling widely. “Giovanni is like a grandfather to me. He doesn't mean any disrespect by what he says,” she said, smiling sweetly at him. Zack laughed a bit, feeling weird that he had just been called her boyfriend by some old Italian guy. He looked down at the menu and realized he only had one. “Why did we only get one menu?,” he asked, confused. “I think Giovanni wants you to order for me. He probably wanted to give you a chance to be a gentleman,” she said amused at how clueless he was. “Oh,” he said, realizing he just lost his chance. Zack looked at her and cleared his throat before speaking. He started reading the menu out loud and then they talked about what to order. Giovanni came down to the table and looked at Zack. Zack tilted his head and clanged his jaw, readying himself to show Giovanni just how much of a gentleman he could be. Genevieve just looked at him, finding it cute how Zack tried to play it cool. “Okay, we are ready to order. We will share a Caprese Salad with Pesto Sauce as a starter,” Zack said confidently. “Yes, good. Sharing is good,” Giovanni said, cheering Zack on. “For the main course. Genevieve will have the Mushroom Risotto and I’ll go with the Grilled Tuscan Steak Mediumare please,” Zack continued knowing he was doing well. “Great choice young man. Drinks?,” Giovanni said and smiled, liking Zack’s confidence. “Genevieve has school tomorrow, so we thought that some water with lemon and a glass each of the Gabbia d’Oro Valpolicella Ripasso Annata from 2018, would be okay,” Zack said with no problem at all. Genevieve was impressed at how he managed to pronounce the wine’s name so easily. “Very well done,” Giovanni said to Zack and then turned his head to wink at Genevieve before walking away with the menu. Zack then looked at Genevieve with a smirk before he leaned in over the table. “You owe me big time,” he said before kissing her lips softly. She giggled cutely as he disconnected their lips. As he sat back down on his chair he couldn't help but notice that someone was looking at him. He looked up at the bar and saw Giovanni holding an older looking lady close as they simply smiled at Zack, nodding at him in approval. Zack blushed a bit and looked away. Genevieve notices his red cheeks. “Are you feeling shy? I didn’t think you could feel shy,” she said softly and joked with him. He laughed and shook his head. “I don't get shy, Love,” He said with a smirk. Genevieve noticed him calling her that pet-name again. Love. She liked how it sounded even more than the last time he said it.
They sat there and talked about everything and anything, getting to know each other better. Genevieve learned that Zack enjoyed torturing his own body with physical activities. He loved the feeling of his adrenaline rising, which was why he liked his job so much. It was never boring. He also liked being competitive and winning. Genevieve has already figured this one out. She learned that when Zack met the other guys he was 15 and on his own. He doesn’t speak to his family. Genevieve never got to know why. In his mind, the only family he had was the boys, which made it even sadder that he wasn't talking to them at the moment.
Zack had learned about Genevieve’s mom. Genevieve had told him about how she died in a car crash 6 years ago. She told him about her mom's friend Penelope Ross the painter and Zack had felt bad about having brought her to that art convention earlier that day. She had of course cheered him up admitting she liked the paintings and that was why she had a few at her place. Zack learned that Genevieve was extremely intelligent and concluded she would make an excellent defense attorney. Her base of knowledge was very large and it seemed like she knew a little about everything. Zack had mentioned the Orsis T-5000 sniper rifle as his preferred rifle and she had known it was a Russian sniper rifle. Very impressive, he thought.
They just talked and talked. No awkward silences. They flirted and shared their food. Zack didn’t think he would like her Risotto but he really did. As they finished up the last of their red wine, Zack stood up. “I’ll be right back,” he said and kissed her cheek before walking to the bar. “I’d like to pay,” Zack politely said to Giovanni as he winked at Genevieve, who was looking surprised at him. “Of course. How was the food? Did you two enjoy your time here?,” Giovanni asked curiously with a smile as he printed out the bill. “Yes, it was great. I don’t think this will be the last time we come here,” Zack said with a smile as he looked down at the bill placed in front of him. “You two are always welcome. It’s nice to see a young couple enjoying each other's company... Instead of all that technology,” Giovanni said very pleased, knowing they had a great time. Zack looked up at him confused. “We are not really a couple,” He said with a weird feeling inside. “Why? You like each other. That is very clear,” Giovanni said, confused. Zack sighed. “It's complicated and I am not exactly boyfriend material,” Zack said, with a sad smile. “Oh, I understand,” Giovanni said and Zack looked confused at him. “Understand what?,” Zack then asked, confused. It wasn’t like there was anything to understand. It was simple. Just exclusive s****l partners. “I see through you, young man. That thought guy act won't last you forever. You think you are the first man to believe you aren't good enough for a beautiful young woman like Genevieve?,” Giavanni said and gestured to Zack to lean in closer. Zack looked at him confused but did. “Let me tell you a secret, my young friend. If you don’t take the chance you'll regret it. When you turn my age you'll see that all of those worries and insecurities only ever stood in your way. Don’t let her slip through your finger just because you are scared. Don't hide behind your arrogance and make sure you love her right. If you never try, you'll never know,” Giovanni said, giving Zack a lot to think about. But the thing was that what Giovanni had said only confused Zack even more as to what he was doing with Genevieve. What was she to him? Did he have feelings for her? And how was he supposed to know what to do about it if he did? Did she have feelings towards him? Zack was pretty sure she did. She looked at him in a way no one else did. He was so confused. One thing he knew for sure was that no matter how he felt, he would never be good enough for her. Giovanni was wrong about that part. She was an angel sent from above and he was a sinner going to hell. Besides, she could never love him if she found out about what he had done.
Zack paid and thanked Giovanni yet again for the food. Genevieve and Zack walked back towards her apartment. She noticed he seemed a bit down. She smiled seeing a game arcade on the other side of the street. She grabbed his hand and pulled him towards it. “Let’s go. It will be fun,” she said excitedly. He was caught off guard and followed her confused. She went to the coin exchange-machine and fed it some cash. It spat out a ton of game coins. She picked them up before looking at Zack who had finally figured out what she was doing. “Are you ready?,” she asked excitedly. He smirked and stepped closer to her. “Are you sure you want to play against me? I won't let you win just because you are a girl,” he said arrogantly. She giggled and kissed his lips softly before running to the air-hockey table. “I don't expect you to. Besides, I won't lose without a fight,” she said, smirking back at him as she put a coin into the machine starting the game.
They played a few different games around the arcade and Zack dominated every single one of them. He had won big time at air-hockey, not letting her get many points. His reflexes were too good. Playing the basketball game wasn’t her game either. She sucked at it but that only gave him an excuse to get close to her. He placed himself behind her, showing her how to do it properly, so you could say they both won that game. She had been really impressed by his strength watching him beating the punching-bag game’s high score. She thought he looked really sexy as he took off his suit jacket, giving it to her to hold for him, and then easily set a new high score. He had gone straight back to her for a victory kiss as his winning price.
“I want more when we get home to your place,” he shamelessly whispered against her lips. She smirked, wanting him to do more right at that moment. “Let's go then,” she whispered back, blushing. He smirked as he put his jacket back on and then took her hand as they walked out of the arcade.
They started walking back towards her place hand in hand with their fingers intertwined. “You are annoyingly good at everything,” she said looking up at him smiling, feeling the happiest she had felt for a long time. He looked back down at her and couldn’t help but smile widely seeing her happy expression. “I know. It's a curse, just like my good looks,” he joked back. She hit his arm and they both laughed. “Well, I must admit you do look really handsome in that suit,” she said, clinging on to his arm wanting him closer. He smiled, at least he did one thing right today. “I had to keep up with your beauty. You look nice in everything,” he complimented her out loud for the first time out of bed. She looked surprised up at him and blushed. “But still nicer with nothing on,” he added and winked playfully. She just laughed at how he couldn’t stay serious complimenting her. They walked by the cop car and Zack decided to tease the officers a little. He waved at them with a smirk, giving them a thumbs-up, mocking their useless job. They didn’t need to be there. Zack was there, she would be safe. The officers stared wide-eyed at the two youngsters walking hand in hand.
They walked into the building and up the stairs to her front door. She almost didn’t even get to open the door before he attacked her lips. She didn’t mind it though. She kissed him back, moving her lips with him as both of their bodies heated up. Never breaking the heated make-out session, they walked into the apartment and Zack closed the door behind him. They didn’t waste any time and started taking the clothes off each other's bodies. Soon they were only wearing underwear. He stopped the kiss and looked down at her. He took a step back and took a good look at her from top to toe. “You look stunning. How did I get so lucky?,” he said as he couldn’t help but feel some type of way when he looked at her. “Be careful. You might fall for me,” she jokingly said, hoping it would come true. She couldn’t deny she was falling fast for him. He smiled confusedly as he remembered what Giovanni had told him earlier that night. Was he falling for Genevieve? He sighed and pushed the thought out of his head as he pulled her close to him. He kissed her lips again and picked her up from the floor. She wrapped her legs around his torso as he walked toward her bedroom. He laid her gently down on the bed as he hovered above her looking at her with a smile. She looked at him confused and thought he was acting a bit weird. “Is everything okay Zack?,” she asked nervously. He ran a finger down her cheek as he looked into her eyes. “Yes. I just wanted to look at you,” he shamelessly said. She giggled at his cuteness and kissed his lips. Zack spread her legs and placed himself between them as he let a little of his weight onto her. The kiss heated up and she let him slide his tongue into her mouth. She grabbed onto his lower back, pulling him closer to her body. Zack started moving his hips against hers. Only their underwear was in the way now. They were both so impatient and they knew it. They moaned against each other's lips, barely getting any air. They both just didn’t want to stop tasting each other's lips. Zack pushed himself harder onto her and she moaned out needy for him. He had to admit he ‘loved’ her moans at least. He couldn’t stop wanting to hear the sweet sound of them.
They both stopped what they were doing as they heard a phone ring. It was Zack’s. He just ignored it and went back to her lips. She giggled against his lips thinking it was cute how he was so focused on her. The phone rang again and he disconnected their lips again and looked at her disappointed. “I have to see who it is?,” he said annoyed and removed himself from her. She understood why. It could be something important. He walked out of the bedroom leaving Genevieve in bed alone, heavily breathing. He walked to his suit pants on the floor and took out his phone. He looked at it. Tayden had called twice. Before he could make a decision on calling him back or not, he received a text from him. He read the message. ‘Please call me back. We need your help.’ He quickly called Tayden back, having a bad feeling about this. Tayden picked up. “Zack!,” Tayden said worriedly. “Speak,” Zack said, thinking it might have something to do with Genevieve. But he was wrong. “Isaac and Ethan are missing. They should have been back from a simple observing-mission hours ago. Noah tracked their car’s GPS down and we went out to find them…. We only found their car or what was left of it,” Tayden said, talking fast. Zack's eyes widened and his heart started racing in his chest in fear. “I’m on my way,” he said sternly and cut the call. “Zack?,” he heard Genevieve say in a worried tone behind him. “I need to go,” he said turning around and walking past her towards the bedroom. She felt a cold wind over her bare skin as he walked past her. She followed confused behind him. “What happened? Is everything okay?,” she asked worriedly. He didn’t answer as he pulled out a pair of black jeans with holes at the knees and put them on. She walked closer to him as he pulled a t-shirt over his head. It felt like he wouldn’t let her see his face. She placed a hand on his back. “Zack?,” she asked, starting to feel scared. He frustratedly sat down on the bed. “No Genevieve! Everything is not okay,” he yelled at her. She flinched at his harsh tone. He noticed and sighed, regretting yelling at her. He put on some socks before he stood up walking to her. She hugged herself and looked away from him not wanting him to see her watery eyes. He moved her face to look at him. He noticed her eyes. He sighed, hating himself for making her scared. But this was exactly what he knew he would do to her from the beginning. It isn’t the first time either. He keeps on snapping at her and he keeps on making her scared of him. “I, I didn’t mean to yell. Isaac and Ethan are missing. I need to go help the others find them,” he said, looking away from her face, regretfully. She realised why he had reacted like that. He was scared of losing his brothers. She placed her hand on his cheek and made him look back at her. “Go. Go find your brothers,” she said with a gentle smile, telling him it was okay. He kissed her forehead before grabbing his jacket and walking out of the bedroom. “Just be careful. Please,” she yelled after him as she heard her front door open and close.
