“You bastard. Where is my daughter?,” Zack looked up at the front door and saw Mr. Wilson standing in the doorway looking furious. Zack tilted his head confused. “In her room sir?,” he lied, not wanting to upset the man any further. Zack was so confused. All the other boys were there too. They already knew what was going on. “What seems to be the problem?,” Zack asked with a cold expression. “You bastard. You seduced my daughter. You should be ashamed of yourself,” Mr. Wilson snapped. Zack got really annoyed but decided to play it cool. “Seduced? I’m sorry sir. But I don’t know what you’re talking about,” He said arrogantly as he crossed his arms over his chest with an annoyed expression. Mr. Wilson got enough and snapped. He walked to Zack angrily. He held an iPad up in front of Zack’s face. Zack looked at it. A surveillance video from Zack's hospital room was playing. Zack widened his eyes in surprise as he watched himself on the video with Genevieve. They were lying together in his hospital bed kissing as Zack touched her underneath her clothes. Zack sighed and looked away from the video. He knew exactly what was going to happen next. In a few seconds Zack would in the video touch Genevieve in some more inappropriate places. Zack was just happy the only thing they had done in the hospital was some slightly innocent touching and kissing. If Mr. Wilson knew what Zack had been doing just a few minutes ago, things would be burning by now. Zack looked at Noah angrily. Noah was supposed to have deleted all the surveillance footage from Zack's hospital room for the team's safety. So how did Mr. Wilson get that video? “How dare you touch my daughter? My poor sweet innocent daughter,” Mr. Wilson yelled before tossing the iPad against the wall and grabbed Zack by the collar. Zack’s expression didn’t change. He just looked at Mr. Wilson coldly. “She wanted me. I simply gave her what she wanted,” he said shamelessly. “Zack. You're making it worse,” Ethan said. Mr. Wilson snapped at Ethan. “Don’t speak. All of you knew about this and let him harass her...,” Zack cut Mr. Wilson off. “Harass? No, she loved every little thing I did to her,” Zack said annoyed. He hated being blamed like this. He did not seduce Genevieve despite what everyone thinks. Mr. Wilson had enough. He punched Zack to the ground. Zack didn’t fight back. What was the point? Mr. Wilson had already decided that Zack was the bad guy, so he might as well play his role as that. Zack looked up at Mr. Wilson with a smirk. “I don’t really see the problem here,” he simply said as he stood up shaking his head to get his full vision back after Mr. Wilson's strong punch to his chin. “She has no idea about how much of a sinner you really are. Don’t think for one second I don’t know what your methods are. You are a cold blooded killer. Your blood stained hands should have been kept off my daughter and in a pair of handcuffs. My daughter is not another one of your special lady friends. You are a psychopath with a god complex. I knew from the moment I met you that something was terribly wrong with you.....,” Zack cut him off again. “Please... tell me something I don’t already know,” Zack said boldly in annoyance. He felt hurt. Genevieve’s father had just told him what he already knew. That he wasn’t good enough for Genevieve. Mr. Wilson started hitting Zack and the others were about to step in, but Zack signaled for them to stop. He let Mr. Wilson hit him in the face and stomach. What was the point of fighting back? Mr. Wilson had every right to be angry with him, he had changed Zacks mind. Zack knew what a monster he was. His own father had made him a monster. Mr. Wilson punched him right on top of his wound and Zack groaned in pain as he fell to the ground again. “Zack!,” Zack looked up and saw Genevieve running to him. Mr. Wilson held her back, keeping her from getting to him. Zack felt a sharp pain in his wound and looked down at his stomach. Blood was starting to run out. Genevieve saw the blood and panicked trying to escape from her own father's hold. “Please dad. Let me go. He is hurt!,” she yelled as her eyes started to tear up. “No. We are leaving. Go get your stuff,” Mr. Wilson said, and looked down at Genevieve angrily. “No, I’m not leaving,” she said sternly as she pushed him back with all her strength, getting free of his hold. She ran to Zack, taking off her sweater revealing the top underneath. She placed the sweater on top of his wound to stop the bleeding. He sat up and caressed her cheek, calming her down. “I’m fine. Please don’t cry,” he said in a soft voice. “Genevieve get away from him. He is dangerous,” Mr. Wilson yelled behind her. She hugged Zack closely, not wanting to go with her father. “You don’t know him dad,” she said feeling the first tear run down her cheek. Zack hugged her back as he looked up at Mr. Wilson, who looked terrified to see his daughter hugging a monster that tightly. Zack sighed. He knew what he had to do even though it wasn’t what he wanted.. “Genevieve please look at me,” He said softly. She looked up at him and he pushed her back. Her arms fell to her sides and her hands landed on her lap as she looked confused at him. He placed his forehead on hers and caressed her cheek. “Go with your dad,” he simply said with a gentle smile. No one in the room believed he had just said that. “No... he is not right about you. You are not dangerous,” she pleaded with him. He sighed. “Genevieve stop. Your dad is right. I am dangerous. I have blood stained hands and I am not or will ever be good enough for you. If you knew just a fragment of the horrible stuff I have done you would hate me. So please just go. This, us. It was never meant to last. We both know that,” he said as he could feel his heart breaking in his chest.
Zack lifted himself up from the floor, groaning in pain as he stood up. Holding Genevieve’s sweater to his bleeding wound. He looked down at her and could see the tears running down her face as she just looked down at the floor. He reached his hand out and she noticed. She took it and he helped her up. She tried to wrap her arms around him but he stepped back shaking his head. She looked at his sad expression, heartbroken. “Zack please...,” she said, not wanting to leave. He gave her a sad smile. She could see the pain in his eyes. She felt her heart breaking even more. “Go Genevieve,” he said before turning around and walking out of the foyer. She hugged herself tightly as she cried out. Mr. Wilson stepped closer to her and placed a hand on her shoulder. “Let’s go, Genevieve,” he said softly and tried to hug her but she pushed him back. Within seconds, her expression changed and she turned around and glared at her father. “You crossed the line dad. I am a grown woman and who I choose to spend my time with is my business,” Mr. Wilson cut her off. “My sweet girl. You are delusional. He seduced you into a state of Stockholm Syndrome or Rescue Romance. The things you feel for that man aren’t real. You don’t love him. You are in love with the game he is playing with you, where he pretends to be the hero. He is using you for his own amusement. He is not capable of feeling anything....,” Genevieve cut him off. “That’s enough. Zack is emotionally reserved and bad tempered. He is a rude selfish asshole sometimes. But he is not playing with me. My so called s*x-life doesn’t concern you, but since you decided to interfere with my private life, I guess I might as well share the truth with you. Zack and I have a deal. We are not a couple but we are physically exclusive towards each other. We are really good friends and like each other’s company. I am the only woman he has ever taken on a date and the only woman he has ever been exclusive with. Even though he has a bad habit of shutting down emotionally and appears stone cold, he is still the sweetest guy I have ever spent my time with. He is respectful, gentle, sweet and funny. He is my best friend. He learns new things just to please me. He is terrible at comforting but when I need it he doesn’t hesitate to try. He doesn’t know anything about dating at all, but he tried really hard to give me a good time and make me feel special. He never opens up about his feelings to anyone and yet he is slowly opening up to me,” she paused and looked at the boys who were all speechless. “You all seem to think really highly of me and I appreciate you guys looking out for me, making sure he doesn’t break my heart. But it is not okay that you guys lecture Zack and point him out as the sinner every time things seem unstable between us. I know you guys just want to help but you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped. If you guys just let him figure out what he wants and how he feels about all of this, it would be better. Pushing him in the direction you guys think is right hurts more than it does any good. Let him sort out his thoughts and just be there if he wants to talk. If he wants your help I’m sure he will ask for it. No matter how proud he might be, you guys are still his family. You all take care of each other. I really respect that,” she paused again and looked at her dad. “Dad. I know you just want to protect me but this is not the way. I know Zack has made mistakes in his past and I know he has done things he isn’t proud of. None of that matters to me because he tries to be better. He is starting to admit when he makes mistakes and apologizes for it. Yes, he has hurt me in the past but he makes up for it. He is not perfect and I know that. He knows that too but he is working on it. He is really good to me, dad. He respects me. He makes me feel special and beautiful. I love him. I’m not ready to give up on him yet. I know he has feelings for me too. But he is scared. I think he is scared of himself. He seems to think he could never be good enough for me. He made it clear that he would continue our little deal until the day I am ready to move on. He told me I deserve better than him. That is his way of showing he loves me too by being unselfish for once. He needs me, dad. And I need him,” she finished and looked at her father with pleading eyes hoping he would understand. He didn’t even move and just stared at her with an unreadable expression on his face. “Please dad. I don’t expect you to agree with me. I just want you to understand the situation from my perspective. I need to figure this thing out with Zack. I owe my heart that. Zack and the other boys have done nothing wrong. If you need to be mad at someone. Please be mad at me....,” she said and walked to him and wrapped her arms around him. “Please hate me. Not them or Zack,” she whispered and tears started falling from her eyes again. He hugged her back and kissed the top of her head. “I don’t hate you sweetheart. I could never. I’ll respect your decision under one condition,” he said and she looked with a smile as the tears slowly stopped. “Anything,” she said hopefully. “I want to have a talk with Zack tomorrow,” he said, and her eyes widened. “But dad...,” Mr. Wilson cut her off. “No buts. You say he cares for you. If that is true he will show up tomorrow at 12 pm to look me in the eyes and that’s final,” he said sternly. She sighed not knowing if she could ever convince Zack to go. “Now I have overstayed my visit so I must leave. Tell Zack I am sorry. I crossed the line. But he should really learn how to respect his elders,” Isaac cut Mr. Wilson off. “I’ve tried to teach him that for years,” the others cut him off. “Not helping Isaac,” they said. Mr. Wilson let go of Genevieve and walked to the boys. “I don’t agree with how you guys have handled this and I am disappointed. But I am not oblivious. I know I have let my anger get the better of me tonight and I am sorry. I hope we can work this out because I still need your help,” Mr. Wilson said and bowed respectfully. The boys bowed too. “We will regain your trust sir,” Ethan said.
Mr. Wilson left after kissing his daughter on the head and saying goodbye to her. Genevieve didn’t hesitate to go and find Zack. But she didn’t have to go far. She turned just around the corner and saw him standing leaning against the wall. He had heard everything. He looked at her surprised with widened eyes. He scratched the back of his neck and looked away from her feeling awkward. He didn’t know what to say. She had just confessed to everyone that she really loves him. She felt a bit embarrassed knowing he had heard everything. She shook it out of her head and grabbed his hand, pulling him to his room. She pushed him to the bed to lay on it. He groaned in pain. She looked at him with an angry expression. She removed her sweater from his wound, lifted up his shirt and took off the bloody bandage to see how bad the bleeding was. It wasn’t that bad and it had almost stopped. He just watched her not knowing what to say. She looked at his face and saw he was bleeding from a scratch on his cheekbone too. She sighed in disappointment. “Genevieve. I...,” he tried but she cut him off. “Don’t move. I’ll be back,” she said and left the room. He knew she was disappointed in him for how he handled the situation with her dad. He had to admit he did handle it pretty badly, choosing to play along as the villain.
she walked down stairs and saw Ethan and Tayden still standing in the foye talking. “I need a first aid kit,” she said coldly and they looked at her surprised. “Okay, sure,” Tayden said confused before walking away to find it for her. “Are you okay?,” Ethan asked worriedly. She looked up at him and sighed. “What do you think?,” she said hopelessly. He gave her a sad smile. “Don’t worry. It’s going to be okay,” Ethan said, putting a hand on her shoulder. “I don’t know about that,” she said with a sad expression. Tayden walked back in with the first aid kit and handed it to Genevieve. “Is Zack okay?,” he asked worriedly. “Physically, yes,” she simply said before walking off to Zacks room again.
She walked back in with a first aid kit. She took off his bloody shirt with force and started cleaning his wound as he just held himself up on his elbows looking at her. “Genevieve, I’m sorry. I know I’m an i***t,” he sighed and groaned when she got too close to the wound. “Good. That just means I don’t have to tell you,” she snapped. He reached his hand up to her face and tucked some of her hair behind her ear. He placed his hand on her cheek and gently caressed it. Her gaze softened and she looked with a sad expression into his eyes. It annoyed her that he could so easily calm her down. “Why didn’t you fight back?,” she asked. “And accidentally kill your dad. No, you would never have forgiven me,” he said with a smile, joking a bit. She glared at him and pushed his hand away from her face with a cold expression. “Zack, can you be serious for one second, please? You could have fought back and protected yourself. That wouldn’t have been wrong. So why didn’t you?,” she asked as she crossed her arms over her chest. He sighed. “There was no point in fighting back...,” she cut him off. “Yes there was. My dad was here to take me away and you just simply surrendered and handed me over. He accused you of countless things and you just took it. Do you want to be the bad guy? Do you really want to be the monster?,” she said frustrated as she stood up. He didn’t know what to say. He knew he had a bad habit of proving others right when they accused him of something. It was just easier than having to prove them wrong. He didn’t have the social skills to prove people wrong. Sometimes it is just easier to be feared or hated. He sighed and plastered a new bandage on his wound before sitting up and looking down at the floor. He didn’t know what to tell her. She noticed and she knew she had hit a sensitive spot in him. She squatted down in front of him and held his hands while looking into his eyes. He refused to look back at her. “Zack, you are not a monster. You're a good guy,” he cut her off, taking his hands back, crossing his arms over his chest. “You don’t know me and what I have done,” he snapped. “Zack, your mistakes don't define you. It’s what you do about it, how you choose to handle it and how you move on, that does. I know you are keeping something from me. Whatever it is, you are so worried about me finding out, it is probably not as bad as you think,” he cut her off again. He pushed her back and stood up. He turned his back to her. She stood up and looked at him worriedly. “Zack,” she tried but he snapped. He turned around and walked straight up to her and looked her dead in the eye. “No Genevieve. Don’t think for one second that you could ever love me. I am a cold blooded murderer. There is a reason for my chosen profession. I simply don’t have any other choice. I was 15 when I was sent to juvenile prison for murder. I murdered my own dad. Shot him twice in his back and when he was lying on the floor in his own pool of blood, fighting to hold on to his life, I shot him in the back of the head just to make sure he died....,” he said as his eyes burned, staring into hers. She didn’t know what to say. It was overwhelming. All she could do was just look at him surprised. That was not what she thought he was keeping from her. He calmed down a bit and looked away from her. He hated himself. Not for killing his dad but for becoming exactly what his dad wanted. The perfect killer. Killing his own dad had made him exactly that. It had made him cold and insensitive. He had to be. Zack's eyes filled up with tears and the first ran down his cheek. Genevieve had made him feel again and he couldn’t stop the tears. He hadn’t cried since the night of his dad's death when he was taken away from his mom and placed in the backseat of the cops car. He had been in shook that night.
“Zack. I’m right here,” Genevieve softly said and wiped away his tears. She made him look at her. She kissed his lips gently and looked into his eyes. He couldn’t believe she was still here and that she didn’t seem scared of him. “I’m listening if you want to talk. You don’t have to,” she said and he couldn’t help but want to hold her. He wrapped his arms around her and lifted her up as he walked to the bed. He sat down on it with her on his lap fronting him. He sniffed and wiped a tear away before he looked up at her. “Why are you still here? You should be halfway on your way to your dad’s hideout, running scared, by now,” he said with an ashamed look in his eyes. “I’m not going anywhere,” she said softly and caressed his cheek. She wasn’t scared of him. She already knew things between him and his dad were a sensitive topic. She thought Zack must have had a good reason. Killing is never okay but necessary at times, she knows that. Real life isn’t so black and white. Real life is complicated. She knew Zack and he wouldn’t have done it without a good reason. “You are way too good to me Genevieve. I don’t deserve you,” he said and looked down, resting his head on her shoulder. She sighed. She was really starting to get tired of hearing him say that. “Stop saying that. It’s not up to you. I decide who I want and my heart decides on you. So you can either accept my love or break my heart. I’m letting it be up to you,” she said sternly. He looked surprised up at her. “Zack, I love you,” she said shamelessly with a gentle smile. His eyes widened and he looked at her confused. “I just told you I killed my own father and this is your response. You are crazy, Genevieve,” he chuckled as a small smile appeared on his lips. “Yes, very crazy,” she giggled with a cute smile. He laughed and kissed her lips. “I can't judge you. I didn’t know you back then but I know you now. The Zack I know can be a cold asshole sometimes, but he is also sweet and gentle. He is funny and I know he would try his best to never hurt me. He is not a monster,” she said with a gentle smile. He placed his lips on hers and he kissed passionately. He couldn’t believe that this was happening. Maybe he could let down his guard now and accept his feelings for her. She just confessed to him and his heart was beating the fastest it had ever been. Is this what love feels like? If it was, he never wanted it to stop. He never wanted her to leave. He regretted not standing up to her dad and fought for her to stay. He cursed himself for being such an i***t and telling her to move on with someone else. He was going to make it up to her. He broke the kiss and couldn’t stop smiling. She blushed at his cute expression. She had never seen him this happy before. He looked the handsomest he had ever looked. He calmed down and cleared his throat before looking into her eyes with a soft gaze. “Genevieve, my Love. Will you be my girlfriend?,” he asked, feeling a bit nervous. That was the first time he had ever asked that question. She widened her eyes. She never thought he would actually pop that question. She was about to answer but he beat her to it. “Before you answer I want you to know the whole story about my dad. If you accept after that, I’ll commit and do boyfriend/girlfriend with you the best I can.”
