That "Sarah" sent my heart into a frozen pit.
Harrison.
I hadn't thought of that name in almost a year.
The comment section smelled gossip and fell silent.
I calmed down, then found it ridiculous.
Harrison was way overstepping.
Before, I was afraid of him. But now? I'd already left Skyview Heights. What did I have to fear?
I composed my expression and flashed a standard smile, making a heart with my hands toward the camera.
"Thank you, Symbol Guy, for the 400 Mega Gifts. Turning off the stream wouldn't be fair to my other viewers. If you want to see me go offline, I can do a private show for you tomorrow. You come, I go dark. You can make me go offline as many times as you like."
"..."
Harrison went offline.
In the stream, my regulars kept asking who that big shot was.
I said, "A selfish jerk."
Halfway through my stream, Harrison showed up.
Before I could react, he grabbed the phone off its stand and smashed it onto the floor.
He must have used full force—the screen went black instantly, glass shards scattering everywhere.
"Harrison, are you insane? This is my home! You're trespassing! This is illegal!"
He looked like he found that hilarious. "Sarah, you were with me for four years. Asking that—are you stupid?"
I clenched my teeth, trying to appear strong.
"Then why are you here?"
"I told you to turn off the stream. Why didn't you?"
"Why should I listen to you?"
Used to being obeyed, Harrison was furious at my defiance.
He grabbed my wrist and yanked me toward him.
He said, "Sarah, you're asking for death."
The cold silver bracelet on his wrist pressed against my bones. I glanced down and saw a ring on his ring finger.
I held it in, but it was so hard.
Staring at that ring, tears suddenly poured out.
I asked, "Harrison, who are you to me? What right do you have to control me?"
Harrison froze, finally noticing the ring too.
"Sarah, I didn't marry her."
He pulled off the ring and tossed it into the trash, then gently wiped my tears with his finger.
"I've missed you this past year. Come back to me, okay?"
I laughed. "If you didn't marry her, why did you only come now?"
"I've been trying to call off the engagement. I didn't want to see you without a result. Now it's done, and I came straight here."
He pulled me into his arms, his long fingers stroking my hair.
"Sarah, my four years were no shorter than yours. You should know I'm serious. I'm human too. Humans get scared, humans get greedy, humans get hurt. You leaving me once made me realize the one I truly want to choose is you. Let's leave here. Anywhere is fine. Wherever you want, as long as it's you and me."
Maybe his expression was too earnest, or his voice too tender, but the obsession I'd buried for a year began to smolder back to life.
I said, "Harrison, I only have half a life left. Don't lie to me."
His fingers paused on my hair, but he still smiled. "You don't trust me so much?"
