Macey rubbed her eyes. The effort of staying awake so late was starting to get to her. She hadn't meant for this to happen, but Amber's death had added an urgent air to the list of things they needed to do. There was no way they could ignore what had happened to her, nor what the blobs were doing to the world around them. They had to be stopped. The question was more how they could manage that. It wouldn't be as straightforward as it had been before.
But before she could even start dealing with the blobs, she needed to return to the kelpie kingdom and check in with Nessie and Mairi. She'd left it long enough, and while she'd trust them with her life, she didn't trust her brothers, and that was what the two women were up against.
