Chapter Fifteen They stepped out of the Staran and were instantly surrounded by dozens of creatures, each one of them pointing a spear at them. Instinctively, Macey raised her hands, trying to look as harmless as possible despite her fancy suit and two knife sheaths slung around her hips. “We come in peace,” she said loudly, hoping that the creatures could understand her. They looked humanoid, standing on two legs, but they were bent forward as if they were close to dropping onto all fours. They were about a head smaller than Macey and covered in reddish fur. Their hands and feet were bare, revealing leathery skin. None of them wore any clothes, but the fur was thick enough to hide parts of their anatomy that Macey didn’t want to see.
