Chapter Nine Soleil He was taken! Damn it! It must be it! I strode towards my tent with heavy steps. My nose was probably shooting fires from how hot my face felt. When that woman, Kat, jumped on Quillon and kissed his cheek, I saw red. "That's why he looked so guilty j*********f and thinking about me! f*****g cheater!" I growled. Technically, he didn't cheat on that woman. But I'm still calling him one because it doesn't make sense to be in a relationship as a werewolf. We'll meet our mates sooner or later. When Quillon meets his, what would happen to that Kat girl, huh? When she jumped on Quillon and kissed his cheeks, I felt something unfamiliar. My blood boiled, and I couldn't pinpoint the reason behind the sharp wrath I felt. Of course, I hid it, tried to. I hope it doesn't show. That woman looked cute. Her hair and eyes were dark brown, and her skin was fair white. She also looked kind by the way she smiled at me. I groaned. Now, I'm feeling awkward. If she only knew what Quillon did... Well, she wouldn't. Quillon won't talk about it, and I will never talk about what he did. Whatever. It's not my business, it shouldn't be. When I arrived at the clearing, a man was standing in front of my tent. One of his arms crossed over his chest, and the other was on his chin. He looked like he was studying my little tent. "Can I help you?" His eyes didn't leave the tent for a second before he looked at me. "That yours?" He asked, a smirk playing on his lips. "Yeah? Anything wrong with it?" He shrugged. "You fit in that?" I looked at my tent. Well, I barely fit in it. Doesn't mean I'll be honest and tell him that. "Of course!" That came out too confident to be true. He looked at me as if I was kidding. "Leave my tent alone, will you?" I rolled my eyes and headed to the table beside the cold fire pit. He followed, sitting on the opposite side. "I can help you expand it, if you'd like." "Nah. It's alright as it is." And there's no way I'll let Quillon's friend rebuild my tent. Come to think of it... He got a friend, but he's not in a pack? "Which pack were you?" I asked boldly. "Can't tell?" He grinned playfully. Well, if I'm in a pack, I'd know the scent of other packs and would be able to name which one he belongs to. Unfortunately... "You know I'm a rogue." I said in a 'duh' tone. He shrugged a shoulder. "Not that long, though." "Still doesn't mean I'll be able to distinguish your origin." "Point taken. I'm from the Trivian Pack of the North." He informed and studied my face to look for any recognition of his pack. I nodded my head slowly. I've heard of them, but not enough to have something to talk about them. "So, why are you friends with a rogue?" I pried. "We're not yet friends, but if you really want to be..." He smirked. I snorted. "Not me, stranger. I was talking about Quillon." He laughed loudly. "I'm just messing with you. Well, we've known each other since childhood." I frowned. This is getting weirder by the second. If they've known each other that long, then was Quillon a member of the Trivian pack? "Why did he go rogue, then?" Shade smiled gently. "Not my story to tell." My mind wandered with possible reasons. Maybe Quillon was punished? Rejected by his previous pack? Exiled? He may have gone rogue by choice, but considering he has friends who have a pack... It's a weak basis. I watched the man in front of me. This man must be the one Kat mentioned. "Shade, isn't it?" I asked. He raised a brow at me. "Yep. I didn't know Kill would talk about me to anyone. What's your name?" He offered his hand and I reached for it. "Soleil. And he didn't. The girl mentioned your name. I just connected the dots." I let his hand go. Shade groaned. "That brat's gonna be the death of me." He murmured. An intense aura came out of nowhere. It was too deadly that my spine straightened from its presence. I quickly turned my head. My eyes met a dark gaze straight right at me. It was Quillon. He looked like he wanted to kill someone. His eyes were hard, his jaw clenched tight and his lips flat in a straight line. I frowned at his unusual behavior. 'You feel that, too? What's wrong with him?' I asked my wolf. 'I don't know. My knees are trembling, though. He feels like a different person.' Quillon slowly left my eyes and looked at Shade. Then his glare landed on the table where both Shade's and my hands were. I could feel the intensity of his aura increasing. Did he hear me asking about him? Is that why he got this mad? Or was it because I was talking with Shade and he doesn't want his friend to get close to me? The latter doesn't make sense. Shade cleared his throat, chuckling a bit. "Hey, man." He greeted Quillon. I watched him ignore Shade; his eyes returned to glare at me. Okay, I think I'm the one who pissed him off. Whatever it is, I think I'm the one who should be pissed. "Pew! Aren't you happy with our visit? That's cold." Shade chuckled again. "Get up," Quillon said, looking at me. I pointed myself. "Are you talking to me?" His nostril flared. I watched him close his eyes tightly, his fists opening and closing hard so that the veins in his arms flexed. He looked like he was trying to calm himself or something. When he opened his eyes, he met my gaze again and I arched a brow at him. Go on, Quillon. Try and order me again to stand the f**k up. I was challenging him, and it seems he understood it but didn't take the bait. He walked towards his friend, and Shade stood up, offering a brotherly handshake. Quillon accepted it, and he was looking at Shade now. "Thanks for coming. You found something?" I don't know what Quillon meant and I couldn't stop eavesdropping. Well, they were talking right in front of me. It's not like they were having a private moment. Shade looked at me and smiled before answering. "Just some updates." Quillon nodded. They went silent for a second and I took that moment to excuse myself. I stood up and both pairs of eyes landed on me. "I'll let you guys catch up."
