Chapter 2 Usually, Lou took his vacations from his wife in an upscale hotel on the fringe of the Castro in San Francisco. Ann knew about his dalliances with men. She had always said she didn’t mind as long as he was discreet, which he had interpreted to mean, not in the neighborhood. Now he wondered about their mostly silent agreement. They never talked about it anymore, which might have been a mistake. He hadn’t indulged himself for at least six months, and the pressure had been mounting. Might have made him hard to live with.
