Chapter 5 They walked down Ocean Avenue toward the beach without talking, glancing in the windows of the high-end jewelry and clothing stores without stopping anywhere. When they crossed a street, George’s hand strayed to Lou’s elbow, which felt odd but nice. George still wanted to take care of him. As they approached the beach, they met groups of people headed in the same direction. No one as much as glanced at them.
