Chapter 5

MIRANDA I woke up to find myself tied to two pillars. I lifted my eyes and saw Hugo with his servants, as he ordered them to get some things for him. I looked at my hands and realized I was chained to the pillars with silver chains. My body felt so weak, like I'd been beaten with stones and other heavy objects. "What's happening?" I asked in a moan. My voice got Hugo's attention. He looked at me and scoffed, saying, "So you are back, huh? That's fine." He walked up to me and grabbed me by the chin, looking into my eyes. "That beast in you is proving stubborn again. I will juice it out no matter what, " He said, yanking my face aside roughly. I couldn't understand what was going on. He said my wolf is being stubborn. What does he want with a weak wolf like mine? I saw Hugo positioning his guards around me with whips. This got me shaking in fear as I demanded to know what he was planning on doing. But he didn't answer me. "Begin, " He ordered his men, and they began swooshing their whips at my body, which felt like fire to my skin. I roared out in pain as they kept striking from different angles, hitting me like I'm an animal. "STOP! I BEG YOU TO STOP!" I cried out, but they didn't listen to me. Hugo kept ordering his guards to increase their strikes, saying he could see something in my eyes. "That bastard is trying to fight back. Hit harder!" He ordered. When he said that and his men struck me again, I felt something growl in me with intense rage. My eyes rolled back and came close, only for me to see two blue eyes inside my body with mighty teeth, trying to hold me from giving in to the torment. "Is that my wolf?" It looked so terrifying, making me realize that I wasn't carrying a little poppy in me. I have something huge hiding in my body. Hugo's men kept hitting me and my wolf wouldn't succumb to their torment. I was facing the beating and trying not to allow Hugo to break me. This continued for almost an hour until I fainted. I woke up to find myself in a small room and not my actual bedroom. I was chained to the ground with silver, while my body was shaking. The door opened with Hugo stepping in with my dinner. That once handsome face that brightened my world looked like a nightmare of terror in my eyes. Hugo tossed the food at me and told me to lick it. "What have I done to you? I thought you loved me? " I asked, getting hurt. Hugo laughed at me and said, "Love? Did you think I came over to marry you out of love? No, Miranda." He grabbed my mouth. "I learned my hidden gem was in the Dark wolf pack, and I had to pay you a visit. I thought you recognized me when you saw me, but you were too blind to know who I was. Marrying you was the only way I could keep you close and get that strong weapon inside of you, "He chuckled, tapping my cheek. "And when I get it out, I'll end you like your parents," He promised, leaving me alone. I cried out bitterly, realizing the danger I was in. How am I going to escape? This horrible torment continued for another week. Hugo carried out so many torment tactics on me, just so my wolf could submit and get out of me. He had me tied to a wall and began throwing his dagger at me. They weren't near me, but they made me terrified. He just wanted to get my wolf out through my fear, but didn't succeed. He tried more methods, until he created a large boiling silver where he tied me above it, so the steam of the silver could get into my body and trouble my wolf. And for some people, this plan almost worked. Right above the boiling silver, I saw my wolf almost leaving my body. Hugo was ready to grab it and pull it right out of my body, but I immediately forced my wolf back into me, causing the chains around my wrist to break, with me falling directly on the boiling silver. I was ready to embrace death, but Hugo swooshed in, saving me quickly. He dropped me on the floor and said, "I now know how to get that beast out. I will repeat this process again tomorrow." He smirked at me. He had me locked in my small room, with me laying on the floor weak. I could hear my wolf panting at me. It's weak as well. "Goddess, help us, " I begged. When the next day came, something happened. The pack was under attack by rogues from the forest. Hugo couldn't carry out his plan but headed out with his men for battle. "Those rogues have the mind to step into my pack? I'll make them all regret it, " He groaned, leaving with his men. He left me under the watchful eyes of four guards. I was laying on the floor like one who was dead, hearing the cry of war outside the mansion. That's when I heard the sound of the door breaking down. Some rogues had stepped into the mansion to fight. The four guards didn't want to leave my spot, but they had no choice when they saw a man, who had his face covered, coming to fight them. I watched how this rogue killed the four guards before rushing to get me. He had his arms all around my body, looking into my eyes. When I saw his eyes, I felt I had seen them somewhere before. But the calmness coming from this stranger, sent both my wolf and I drifting to sleep. The last thing I saw was this rogue taking me in his hold and dashing out of the mansion without stopping.
