I gasped on hearing what Hugo called me.
"His chosen mate? We are mates?" I stared at him.
His announcement left everyone gasping in shock, leaving them mumbling among themselves in disbelief. Like what's going on here.
"A weakling like her is an Alpha's mate?"
“Can someone please wake me up if this is a dream!”
"This can't be possible. Why would the goddess do such a thing?"
They all complained, finding Hugo's words disturbing.
They weren't the only ones who were against this.
"Do you know what you're saying, Alpha Hugo?!" Derek lashed out.
"This weakling can not be your mate! Her wolf is too weak and powerless to be your Luna. There are many women who are good-looking and have good shape to pick from, so push this abomination aside, " Derek insulted me while warning Hugo to dump me.
But Hugo stood his ground, as he pulled me closer to himself.
"Yes there are many women in the pack, I have chosen her and there's nothing anyone can do about that." He wrapped his arm around me, causing Derek's eyes to bulge out in anger.
"Miranda is my mate and I don't care if she's weak or woofless. I want her and you guys should just get that straight" He professed before everything.
His protection over me left me drooling for this man. I don't know him, but he's already fighting for me. I have never seen such a loving soul in my life.
He has not only won my heart but my love. I want to be his Luna. I want to be by his side forever.
When Derek tried to object again, his father, Alpha Jerome, stopped him at once.
"Father."
"No Derek. You have no right to tell an Alpha what he wants and shouldn't have. If he wants Miranda then he can have her, " He said, supporting Hugo.
"At least, she can get the peace she truly deserves. The poor girl has suffered enough from the torments here so let her be," Alpha Jerome said, silencing Derek and his people.
Alpha Jerome looked at me with a smile and said to me, "Miranda, you can marry the Alpha. I can see he has found his mate in you, so be with him. My blessings are with you."
Touched, I went at his feet, thanking him for his support. It's all I've ever wanted, a fatherly blessing.
And my stepfather.... The man suddenly disappeared from the celebration like a ghost, but I didn't care.
"I know it's too soon, but I can't wait anymore, " Hugo said, holding my hands after I came standing next to him.
He looked at the Alpha and asked, "Miranda is from this pack. I can't take her to mine without carrying out the right ceremony. Please, I want to bond with her, as the goddess is watching us now."
My heart shimmered at Hugo's desperation. I also wanted to bond with him with no delay.
"Okay, Alpha Hugo. If that's what you want, then we shall begin, " The Alpha said.
The elders of my pack came closer to start this ceremony with everyone witnessing.
Their faces in disbelief as they watched how my head was adorned with a beautiful flower crown.
They didn't expect that a weakling they always bullied would one day be a Luna to an Alpha. I felt on top of the world as they stared in shame.
"Where's your father? " Alpha Jerome asked when he noticed my stepfather was missing.
"He has to be here to make this..."
"Alpha please, will you be my father? " I asked.
Alpha Jerome felt touched by my words. Derek, who stood behind, groaned in anger, before leaving the place.
"Of course I will, Miranda. I will be your father figure," he accepted.
This pleased my heart. At this point, I didn't care about my stepfather who had suddenly disappeared.
Right under the moon and before all, the elders started the wedding rights between Hugo and I.
I felt Hugo caressing my hand while this was going on. It made me so happy as I visualized our future together.
"Thank you, Goddess. I'm so grateful," I appreciated in my heart.
"We bind thee as Alpha and Luna with the goddess as our witness. You may now mark your bride, Alpha Hugo, " The elders said to Hugo, who gladly pulled me in his arms, sinking the brim of his teeth on my shoulder.
I moaned on feeling it. It didn't hurt me one bit but it felt beautiful.
"You are mine now, Miranda, "he whispered to me, leaving me blushing.
I heard everyone clapping, but it wasn't from their hearts.
They are still in shock, which is good for them.
The Alpha congratulated Hugo and I, asking if my Alpha would be taking me home tonight.
"It's so late..."
"We'll be fine. I'm here to protect my Luna, "He said, tightening his grip on my hand with so much care.
I also agreed with him since I didn't want to spend another day here at the park. I want to start my new life at once.
Now that I was wedded to Hugo, I decided to head home and get my things.
"Please, I'll be right back, "I said to Hugo, who told me not to delay.
"I'll be here waiting for you," he said.
Quickly, I left for my home with everyone still staring in astonishment. They could no longer approach me like before.
When I got home to gather my things and leave for good, I found my stepfather waiting.
He stared at me in shock on seeing the flower on my head.
Before he could speak, I told him, "I am now Hugo's Luna. He had marked me."
"He marked you? " He gazed in shock.
I believed he was mad, so I answered confidently, " Yes, he did. I am now his Luna."
"Oh, you are such a fool, Miranda. You don't know what you've done."
What does he mean?
His words left my heart racing with fear.
"Consider yourself doomed. You are doomed forever.
