CHAPTER 7 ~ GETTING MARRIED

1290 Words
ANDREA'S POV I came out of my car after the contract had been signed and placed a call to Harry. I informed him of my whereabouts and asked him to run a thorough background check on Margaret Elliott, the woman I met at the station. I knew her to an extent because she always made sure to attend any conference or the few parties I attended, and always tried to be seen around me. I needed something to hold against her because it didn't seem like Lola's mum had stolen what she claimed was missing. Why would she do that and suffer this torment, risking her freedom? Although paying a hundred million dollars would be faster, I felt I had to clear her mum's name. Harry called me back to inform me that he had sent the details to my mail. I went through my mail and was a bit shocked at what I saw. Margaret Elliott was running a charity scam behind the scene. It wasn't just any scam, but a huge one. She used the videos and pictures of helpless people who were going through pain to solicit support from wealthy people, and she never helped them out. She even had a charity organisation that people could send monetary support to, but there was no account of what these monies were used on. I went into the station, fully prepared to deal with my newly gotten enemy. It was a pity that she had to mess with someone who, from some minutes ago, now has something to do with me. "Magaret Elliott, you run a charity scam, don't you?" I shouted the moment we went in, making sure everyone could hear me. "What? Mr.. Mr.. Andrea..." Margaret stammered, running towards me. "I... I don't know how you found out, but please reduce your voice. We are at the police station, please." She whispered, almost letting out a tear, but I didn't give a damn. "Then, do you mind explaining how that lady over there could steal something of such great value when she could be imprisoned for that?" I asked, and she nodded, and we stepped out of the station. She began to speak up and confess what had really happened, and unknown to her, I was recording every word that came out of her lips. Mrs Ella Erikson started working for Margaret some months back, but for three months now, she had failed to pay her. Now, the money had accumulated to quite a lot, and as a greedy thief that she was, she wasn't ready to pay her a dime. So she connived with her friend and her husband, who she ran the charity scam with, to set up Mrs Erikson for theft and probably get some money off the poor woman. They made a fake gold statue that didn't cost much and placed it on a special table in Margaret's room. The table had an opening in the centre that could pull down whatever was on it to a lower compartment inside it, at the click of an external remote. To the external eyes, it looked very normal, so when she called Mrs Erikson to clean up her room, she perfected her plans by recording what seemed like a theft to everyone. "Wow..wow.. That's a whole lot you had to do, Margaret, just to avoid paying some peanuts for the services you got." I said, walking back into the station, with Margaret begging me not to expose the charity scam. Little did she know what was coming for her! I got to the officers and played the recording of all she had just confesed on my phone, and she was super shocked to find out I had recorded her statement. Mrs Erikson began to cry on hearing how she had been set up, and Lola tried to console her. I went further to expose her for the charity scam, forwarding every proof I had to the senior officer. Margaret and her cohorts were arrested, and we stepped out of the station with Lola smiling from ear to ear. Lola's mum kept thanking me nonstop, thinking I was just a good samaritan who helped her out. She left in a taxi, and I immediately pulled Lola into my car. "You should be very grateful to me, don't you think?" I said, leaning very close to Lola as she tried to move away. "I..I... uhmm.." She stammered. I looked at her innocent face, and I felt something drawing me in. I had almost kissed her someone knocked at the car front door, and I adjusted properly. My driver, who had been standing by a corner of the station all these while, got in and turned on the ignition. "Where to Sir?" He asked, and I looked up. "Take us to the Registrar," I said, and I could see the shock in his wide open eyes. He was probably wondering why I was headed there, but that's absolutely none of his business. I just had to seal the contract as fast as possible to ensure that Lola wouldn't try to back out now that her mum was free. That wasn't even going to be possible because of the clause in the contract. She doesn't know about it, but she will be so shocked to find out. "This is really fast, Mr Andrea. Do we have to get married right now? Without meeting your parents?" Lola whispered to me, and I smirked. It's a good thing I brought her immediately! ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ MINUTES LATER We officially registered our marriage. "Great! Now you are officially Mrs Andrea Peters for the duration of our contract marriage. You are now fully under my control." I said, chuckling a bit. "What do you mean by under your control?" She asked, looking totally confused. "You will find out soon." I said, and Lola glared at me for a long while. When we got into the car, I took off the mask I had used to cover my face, and I sent a picture of my marriage certificate to my Dad. He called me in a matter of minutes. "Andrea! Why would you take such a huge step without our presence? Your mum and I had made arrangements for a very lavish wedding for you by next week, and all dignitaries around the world would have been in attendance. I haven't even met or approved this girl you say is your fiancee, and what.. you already registered your marriage?" My Dad yelled angrily, and I could feel the pain in his voice. "I'm sorry Dad, I love her so much that I couldn't wait another minute, I'm sure you and mum would love her too," I said, bringing down my voice and smirking at Lola, who was sitted beside me. "Do you love her that much?" My Dad asked. "Yes, Dad, I love her so.. so much." I said with a puppy like voice, and my Dad couldn't help but laugh. "You know what? I and your mum are coming to your house right now to see this girl who has made you sound this way, make sure you bring her home, and expect us in about 30 minutes time." My Dad said, and I went into panic mood. 30 minutes time? I turned to look at Lola and she was putting on an old and tattered blouse and trousers that looked like it had gone through a lot, and her hair looked so messy, probably from all the crying she had done at the station. I still had to tell her some things about me, like my likes and dislikes before she could meet my parents. What the f*ck I'm I supposed to do now?
