Mia's pov (chapter 6)

907 Words
I stared at my reflection in the mirror, confused. This body looked like mine, but something felt off. I kept glancing at the mirror, trying to make sense of what was happening. The person next to me, who said his name was Richard, looked at me with concern. "What's wrong? Are you okay?" he asked. I nodded, still trying to process my thoughts. Richard reached out to hold my hand, but I pulled away, unsure of what was going on. Richard looked hurt, but I didn't have time to explain. I was too busy trying to wrap my head around this new body. As we drove to his pack, Richard pointed out the beauty of the surroundings, but I was too distracted to appreciate it. I felt like I was living in someone else's skin. When we reached the pack, Richard told me to wait, but I opened it and stepped out before he could stop me. The familiar surroundings only added to my confusion. Richard looked at me with a mix of concern and curiosity. "Do you recognize this place?" he asked. I shook my head, feeling a pang of guilt. How could I explain that the person he knew was dead, and I was just a stranger in her body? Richard apologized, saying it was his fault for not being able to protect me. I looked up at him, trying to smile, but inside, I was reeling. As we walked further, I felt eyes on me. I glanced up to see a woman watching me, a knowing glint in her eye. I stood on the balcony, scanning the park below for a familiar face. As I searched, my eyes met a pair of piercing eyes that sparked a wave of memories. But instead of memories, a sharp headache hit me like a brick wall. I winced in pain, clutching my head. The eyes belonged to a woman who rushed towards me, concern etched on her face. "What's wrong?" she asked, but I shook my head, trying to brush it off. "Just my head," I muttered, still trying to process the sudden pain. The woman's eyes narrowed, but she didn't push the issue. Instead, she gently took my arm, leading me away from the balcony. As I stepped into the room, I was surrounded by a space that was quintessentially girly. But it was the memories that hit me like a ton of bricks. Memories that weren't mine. I stumbled backward, overwhelmed by the visions that flooded my mind. I saw a girl who looked exactly like me but lived a different life. She was adopted, and her family was loving and kind. I tried to grasp more of the memories, but they slipped through my fingers like sand. My head spun, and I collapsed onto the bed, exhausted. "This has been too much for one day," I muttered to myself, closing my eyes and letting sleep wash over me. But my rest was short-lived. I was jolted awake by the sound of arrows hitting the headboard of my bed. I jumped up in horror, my heart racing. "What the...?" I trailed off, staring at the arrows in shock. That's when I saw it - a letter attached to one of the arrows, written on red paper. I stared at the letter, my heart racing with fear. The words danced on the page, taunting me. "You're lucky I didn't succeed," it read. "Say a word about what happened to, Richard, and you're not the only one who'll get hurt this time." I felt a chill run down my spine. Was this a threat? Was I being bullied? I couldn't breathe. My mind was reeling with questions. What did they want from me? What had happened to Ella and Richard? I stumbled backward, feeling like I was being pulled from one nightmare into another. "Oh my God," I whispered, my voice shaking with fear. "What's going on?" I finished reading the letter and decided to keep it as evidence to show Richard. But as I glanced at the edge of the paper, I noticed a tiny writing that made my blood run cold. "Burn after reading. If not, you know the consequences. - X" I felt a shiver down my spine. Who was X, and why were they threatening her or rather me? Ughhh, What had the owner of this body gotten herself into? I hesitated, wondering if I should show Richard the letter. But something held me back. What if he reacted impulsively? What if he didn't know how to handle the situation? I decided to keep the letter to myself, at least for now. I was determined to get to the bottom of this mystery, no matter what it took. My life had just taken a drastic turn, and I was ready to take control. Just as I finished reading the letter, I heard Richard's voice calling out to me. "Ella, what's wrong?" he asked, concern etched in his voice. I quickly hid the letter behind my back, trying to compose myself. "I...I dropped something," I lied, trying to sound nonchalant. Richard's eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't push the issue. "Are you okay?" he asked instead. I nodded, trying to reassure him. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little clumsy, that's all." Richard smiled and walked towards me, but I could tell he didn't believe me. I just hoped he wouldn't press the issue further.
