I woke up to the strong smell of herbs,
the scent hitting me like a punch, raw and bitter, yanking me out of a fog before my brain could catch up. My head felt like it was stuffed with wool, thoughts sluggish and jumbled, but then it slammed into me—I’d called Katrina Ashley. I could still see her face, twisted with fury, her eyes burning as I fumbled the name. Right after, a wave of dizziness had hit, followed by this flood of feelings that weren’t mine—fear, confusion, and anger. My chest tightened, my breath hitching as I tried to sort through it. Whose emotions were those? Why were they crashing into me like that?
