I stared at Serena for a long moment, letting her words wash over me without giving her the satisfaction of seeing me break down. My chest and my whole body was aching but all I felt inside was cold emptiness.
"Why are you so hell-bent on being with a male who does not want you?" I asked, my voice calm, devoid of the tears that had choked me only moments before.
Serena blinked, her triumphant smirk faltering slightly.
"You do not love him clearly," I continued, looking straight into her eyes. "You only love the power, and the title that comes with being beside an Alpha. So if it is just a title you are after, why won't you just leave me alone and go find someone else to torment?"
