Nirvana huffed while walking through the hallway, "Just who does that hooligan think he is? I mean he is really a sight to behold, but come on Nirvana you know you have seen better!" she gave herself a pep talk.
Then why is your heart beating so crazy right now? her inner self sneered.
"No it is not!" she whispered to herself.
"Not even a day, Dr Nirvana, and you already seem to have started talking to yourself out of loneliness. My.." a voice from behind her taunted.
Nirvana looked behind only to find Connor standing now along the hallway with a smirk on his face.
What is it with people and their smirks in the hospital?
"Oh shut up Dr Connor, for if your boss was not a psycho as I seriously now think he is, I really would not have been in this predicament." she sighed.
"Our boss? You mean Zach" he answered, with a shocked expression on his face.
"Yes! Connor, for a world-class doctor you are indeed very stupid. Who else would I be talking about anyways and why in bloody Gods name does your face look like you just saw Beyonce on a casual walk to the park?"
"Maybe, Nirvana because our boss never really associates with anyone in this hospital that much at all, but looking earlier I think that he really is interested in you now," he frowned.
"Cannot say I love that in my workplace Connor," Nirvana whined. "But I'll be dammed if I let him interfere any further and step over his limits."
"Just be careful okay Nivs? He's not really a patient and kind man," Connor replied, his voice laced with what sounded like concern.
"Okay Okay, officer, now can we just get along and start with you introducing me to my duties?" saying this she started walking off as fast as her legs could carry in the direction in front of her. She was in no mood to discuss Zachariah Adonis Villin right now.
After a while, they both had reached the east wing of the hospital, and through the way, Connor had already pretty much briefed her about the whole deals that she had to deal with and the multiple contracts she had to sign. But her only weakness was that she hated paperwork.
"Can't I do the paperwork later Connor?" she mumbled. For a woman as brilliant, she really did act like a child sometimes.
"No. Now go sort them out and then we will get you going. Your office is located just on the left to this hallway. I'll meet you later Delaney," he exclaimed, before turning his back on her and rushing through the hallway.
"Traitor" Nirvana mumbled. Now all she had to do was basically sort out and sign about a thousand of those boring paperwork in her office.
Nirvana entered her office and was literally stunned by what she saw. The place she was in was no more than a luxury hotel and this fact literally made her jaw drop, until her eyes fell to the stack of documents waiting for her on her pretty table, "Well fuck."
It had been an hour since she had started on her paperwork and yet it did not seem like it would be ending anytime soon, and the worst part of it was that she had only finished about 58 of them and had more than hundreds just there patiently waiting for her. She sighed, cursed those bloody papers and continued.
After another hour of tireless going through that paperwork, she decided that she could do no more, or her hands would literally rot off along with her brain, but she still had some of them to go.
The red document lying between the stack caught her eye, and she held out to read it, and after seeing through the contents was getting ready for the process to sign it, but her laziness brushed it off and then she slammed it on the table.
"f**k this. It's time for me to go on and become a real doctor. I am craving the scent of the hospital rush so bad and even one more minute and I could really die."
Bending over to reach her coat she finally fiddled through her pockets to take out her phone. As soon as she got hands-on it, she rang up Connor.
"Heya Boss! I am done with all of it so can't I join you now?" she spoke while going around circles on her chair.
The voice on the other line huffed, "I don't know about the paperwork, Dr Nirvana, but I suppose you could come down to the Pit now. Things are hectic here and we could just do with a pair of extra hands, especially if those are yours."
"Roger that boss," she said, smiling while she ended the call.
It was action time.
Meanwhile Zachariah sat in his office still gazing at his hand that had held her for a brief moment. Just the kiss on her hands was now making him very very excited. His heart was calm now that she was not here but never had he ever felt so alive in his entire life, as he did when he was with Nirvana.
Ever since he was a teenager, his parents and his family thought that he had some issues, not because he was not perfect but for just simply being too perfect. Since a child, nobody could have ever beaten his photographic memory and his smart way with words, but the greatest problem surrounding him was that nobody could ever make an impact on his heart.
He never had learned to open up to someone even though his parents had tried a hard deal with it. He felt bored at least at every event of his life, except for some surgeries, especially very delicate ones. But here was Nirvana Delaney a woman who he had just met hours earlier and yet she had made his heart, the one that had never thumped fast, thump as fast as it did today. For once in his life, he felt alive now and it was all due to her. His mind was a mess only filled with her thoughts, so he did the one thing that he had been waiting for. He took his phone out of his pocket and then rang up a number.
"Get me everything there is to know about Dr Nirvana Delaney and I expect you to be quick with it."
The voice on the other line replied, and then the call ended. Zachariah held his phone to his lips and smiled "I want to know everything about you Miss Delaney, and soon you will be mine. I will make sure of it."
"Holy f**k" Nirvana whispered. The sight in front of her was simply thrilling. She had worked in multiple pits in her lifetime, but the one in front of her literally made the others seem like point charges.
There were patients coming in from everywhere, and the funny fact was that the hospital was big enough to make it look normal.
Someone had a knife to their shoulders, others a fractured leg and there were some who had barb wires stuck on their chest.
"Wait what?" she whispered looking at the teenage boy on her left opening, who had his whole chest filled with barbed wires and they were in too deep for anyone liking.
She ran through the crowd of nurses and doctors towards the boy.
There was already a group of interns and nurses fixing up his charts and vitals.
"The patient's name is Bill Thorn. His body has multiple lacerations, probably due to his apparent fall from the fence over to his gardens, and we have the fence also stuck in his thoracic cavity, literally."
"Now what can we do about this?" Owen questioned the interns.
"Get an ECG done sir," one intern replied from the back.
"Anything like that and the wires in him move and he bleeds out. What we need now is a literal portable Xray here. Go arrange for it." Owen replied and he was right, as the risk of an ECG or an MRI were high chances of him probably dying in a just of a few seconds then and there.
"I think I'll be taking him," Nirvana said to Owen who was standing in there with a weird look on his face.
"Never been a problem giving you patients Dr Nirvana. I will be counting on you" he replied before moving on to others in need of him.
The patient was quickly brushed through all of it and the barbed wire had penetrated his pericardium and was working in its way to a massive tear. Any moment now and he would be dead. Nirvana clenched her hands and closed her eyes for a second. It was time for some OR action.
"Let's get prepped and ready then folks. We have some barbed stuff to take care of now."
Whereas on the other side of the hospital Zacharaih's fingers impatiently tapped on his desk. "Is it done now?"
"Yes sir, but it seems that she has not really signed the documents."
Hearing these words Zachariah's eyes lit up, "Isn't she in surgery right now. Go get them for me."
His face tugged up in a smile, after all, he had just found of a way to keep Nirvana by his side for a very long time.
"How naive of you love."
