Two million

My breath caught. The room fell silent as all eyes turned to the man who just spoke. Tall. Cold. Untouchable. The kind of man you don’t look at twice unless you want trouble. Adrian Knight. I had heard the name before. Everyone had. Ruthless billionaire. No mercy. No emotions. And now… he was bidding for me. “This is a charity auction, Mr. Knight,” the host stuttered nervously. “You are bidding for a date, not—” “Five million,” Adrian said calmly, cutting him off. My stomach dropped. I wasn’t supposed to be here. I was only filling in for my friend who got sick. Just one night. Smile, walk the stage, and go home. Not… this. “Sold!” The gavel hit. And just like that, my life changed. I stood frozen backstage, my hands shaking. “You’re lucky,” one of the girls whispered. “Do you know who just bought you?” “Yes,” I said quietly. “That’s exactly why I’m scared.” Before I could run, the door opened. He walked in. Adrian Knight. Up close, he was even more intimidating. Dark eyes. Sharp jawline. Expensive suit. The kind of presence that made the air feel heavier. “Come,” he said simply. No greeting. No smile. Just a command. “I… I thought this was just a date,” I managed to say. His eyes flickered with something dark. “It is.” “Then why do I feel like I just signed my life away?” He stepped closer. “Because you did.”
