1.THE CONCEPTION

The newborn baby let out a loud wail. The cry was insistent as she demanded attention. Smiles spread across the birthing specialist's face, revealing her beautiful dimples, as she wrapped the baby in a shawl, covering her delicate body and placed her gently into the comfy cot of being newly born into the world. "She's such a beautiful baby," the birthing specialist muttered. Regina, her mother, lay on the hospital bed, still in recovery, lost in deep thoughts. Fully aware that the child she had just given birth to wasn't her husband's, she flashed back to recent past events in their family. "David! David! Come here! For how long will I wait for you to give me grandchildren? My mother didn't cry and shout at me before I conceived and gave her beautiful grandchildren. Why must I suffer over you? Regina's mother-in-law ranted, banging into their house. "I'm waiting for you, David. This is becoming unbearable," she said, stamping her feet on the tile floor. "Darling, not again. We have tried our best, and we're still trying. Don't let her bother you. Heaven, please don't mock me," Regina said with tears streaming down her face. "Babe, don't let that bother you. We're in this together. I still love you, regardless of this issue. I'll talk to my mother. Please cheer up, my love," David said, comforting her. "Do something for me: don't leave this room. I'll be back," David said, pecking her on the cheek before leaving for the parlor. "Mother, why are you doing this? You just have to be patient with us. My wife is not the creator of babies. We're trying our best. What we need is your understanding. I have always granted your wishes and wants, ever since I was born. I did just what you taught me to do. In this aspect, I just need you to be patient. We'll sort things out. Please, Mother," David said calmly. "Okay, do whatever you want, but I won't give up on pestering you and that barren woman you call your wife," she said, frowning. "Mother, I won't let you call her that. She means the world to me," David said loudly, as his mother slammed the door in his face. "Why would Mother do this to us?" David muttered, heading back to the master's bedroom. "Babe, I've spoken to my mom. Don't bother about what she mentioned earlier. The heavens will grant us our own kids," David encouraged his wife, Regina. Regina muttered, flashing back again, "I was really patient, but I couldn't continue being a barren woman. Here I am with my own child." "Paul, I don't know what to do about this childlessness. It's become the talk of the neighbors. Everyone is making a mockery of me. I know my husband is tired of me, but he's still showing care and concern," Regina said soberly. "Regina, I understand your plight, but don't let this overwhelm you. I believe someday your request will be granted by God," Paul said, patting her. "I know, Paul. I hear this every day. My husband and I have sought medical help concerning our predicament, but there have been no positive results. Do you know of anyone I can see? I don't mind traveling miles away," Regina replied. "I know of a place. I'll forward the address to you later today. Just chill," Paul assured her. "Okay, Paul. I'm so grateful. I'll head home now. My husband must be on his way from work," Regina replied, preparing to leave. "Take care, Regina," Paul replied. "Hmm, after that day, alot of changes took place in my life and my family. God, please help me". Regina said in a low tone while she adjusted her position on the bed. " Madam, Congratulations, I'm so happy for you. Your husband called while you were asleep. He's on the way. You will see him soon." The birthing specialist said with a smile on her face. "Thank you Ma'am, I will be expecting him." Regina replied. The baby let out a loud cry "Aww, she must be hungry, you should give her some sweet milk now" the birthing specialist said with smiles across her face while carrying the baby from her cot. "Alright, I will." Regina replied while carrying the baby from the birthing specialist's hand. While feeding the child, David walked into the room, smiling broadly at a bouquet of Daisy flowers. "Here I am, the mother of my child." David said while entering the room "Welcome honey." Regina replied while blushing. "Wow, she's just a beautiful baby, she looks after you so much" David said while carrying her in his arms. "Does your mother know about this already?" Regina asked, being curious. "Yes, she's already informed us she will come for the christening of our child" David replied. " Okay, that's great… Finally, we are free from her ranting and shouts. It's such a great relief," Regina said. "Yes, my darling, you're absolutely right. So, when will you be discharged, my love?" David asked. "I don't know yet, I'll call on the nurse for that." Regina replied as she pressed the call button. Within a few minutes, the nurse entered the room. "Good day sir, Trust you are enjoying your moment with our beautiful baby here," The Nurse said with a broad smile. "Of course, I am having a wonderful moment with my two beauties," David replied, smiling. "Ohh, we were about to ask when I would be discharged." Regina asked. "I'm sure you are eager to go start a new time and life journey with your husband and your child, but you must exercise patience. We are still monitoring your well-being to be fully sure you're good enough to go to be discharged." The nurse replied. " Ohh, I will have to wait for my beauties to come home. Well, nothing to worry about, I know just what to do. I will go clean up the house and make arrangements for the big event that is ahead of us. My love, I will welcome you in a grand style because 10 years of waiting is no child's play." David replied, smiling. "Awww, I trust you my love, you are right, 10 years is not a child's play. The Heavens truly didn't mock me. "I will take my leave now, enjoy your stay." The nurse said. "Darling, I'm not leaving you, but let me go prepare for everything. Take care of my baby very well and give her that sweet milk. Be prepared for me to come for mine." David said while smiling. Then he pecked Regina and left. Moments later, Regina started bleeding profusely. "Nurse, Nurse, Nurse, help me." Regina shouted in pain, but her voice was faint and no one could hear her. She managed to press the call button, but before the nurses arrived, she went unconscious, losing so much blood. The nurses rushed into the room. "This is a disaster, we don't have much time to waste, someone should call Dr Kan." A nurse said, panicking. In haste, Dr Kan arrived. "What were you all doing for this to happen? One of you should call her family to inform them she needs an immediate operation, tell them to make haste, they need to sign up before we start the procedure. Place the oxygen on her to boost her breathing." Dr Kan said with an audible voice. David's phone rang, the call from the hospital came in. "Hello sir, your attention is needed here, your wife is in a serious condition, we need you to come as soon as possible." The voice on the other end said. "What ! Serious condition? How? when? I had just left the hospital some minutes ago. ago. Okay, I will be on my way. David said in a worried tone while ending the call, then he rushed back to the hospital.
