CHAPTER 15; SHADOWS AND SCHEMES.

--- The moon hung low, casting elongated shadows across the dense forest. Darius moved silently, his senses heightened. He had always been a loyal member of Kendrick's pack, a formidable warrior. But lately, his thoughts were consumed by Arya. He had watched her from afar, captivated by her strength and resilience. Her presence stirred something within him, a longing he couldn't ignore. But she was Kendrick's mate, and that made her untouchable. Still, he couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to have her by his side. To share in her power, to stand with her against any threat. The thought was intoxicating. As he patrolled the perimeter, he stumbled upon an ancient relic buried beneath the roots of an old tree. It pulsed with energy, resonating with his own. He reached out, and as his fingers brushed against it, a surge of power coursed through him. Visions flooded his mind—Arya standing beside him, the two of them leading the pack, their enemies vanquished. He shook his head, trying to dispel the images. But the seed had been planted. Maya paced her chamber, her mind racing. Arya's return had disrupted everything. She had worked tirelessly to position herself as the future Luna, and now, her plans were unraveling. She needed a new strategy. Someone who could help her eliminate Aria once and for all. Her thoughts turned to her elder sister, Kayla. Kayla had always harbored feelings for Kendrick, and Maya knew she could exploit that. She summoned Kayla to her quarters. "Sister," Maya began, feigning concern, "I fear for our pack. Arya's return has caused unrest. Kendrick is distracted, and our enemies may see this as an opportunity." Kayla's eyes narrowed. "What do you propose?" "We must protect our pack," Maya replied. "And to do that, we need to ensure Kendrick's focus remains unwavering. Arya is a distraction. If she were to leave... or worse, betray us, Kendrick would see her true nature." Kayla considered her sister's words. The thought of Kendrick being hers was tempting. She nodded slowly. "What must we do"? Kayla stood at the edge of the training grounds, watching Kendrick spar with his warriors. Her heart ached with longing. She had loved him from afar for years, always hoping he would see her. But his eyes had always been on Arya. Now, with Maya's plan in motion, she saw an opportunity. If she could sow seeds of doubt in Kendrick's mind, make him question Aria's loyalty, perhaps he would turn to her for comfort. She approached him after the session, offering a towel and a smile. "You fought well today," she said. Kendrick nodded, taking the towel. "Thank you, Kayla." She hesitated, then added, "Be careful with Aria. Her return is... unexpected. We don't know where she's been or what she's done." Kendrick's eyes darkened. "Arya is my mate. I trust her." Kayla forced a smile. "Of course. I just worry for you." Aria wandered through the forest, seeking solace. The whispers of the trees comforted her, reminding her of her connection to the land. She had felt a shift within herself lately, a growing power she didn't fully understand. As she walked, she stumbled upon a hidden glade. In the center stood a stone altar, ancient and weathered. Drawn to it, she approached and placed her hands upon the surface. A surge of energy coursed through her, and visions filled her mind—her ancestors, powerful and revered, standing tall and proud. She saw herself among them, a beacon of hope and strength. She gasped, pulling her hands away. The realization hit her—she was more than she had ever imagined. Her bloodline was ancient, her power immense. She had a destiny to fulfill. *Kendrick's POV* Kendrick sat in his study, troubled. Kayla's words echoed in his mind, sowing seeds of doubt. He trusted Arya, but her sudden return and newfound powers were unsettling. He needed answers. He sought out the pack's seer, hoping for guidance. The seer looked at him with knowing eyes. "Your path is fraught with challenges, Alpha. Trust your heart, but be wary of those who seek to deceive." Kendrick nodded, the weight of leadership heavy on his shoulders. Maya watched from the shadows as Arya returned from the forest, her aura glowing with newfound power.....
