“Vlad!” Kane calls out as I take off my coat. “The warriors will go after her.” Still speaking, trying to convince me, but the words float away.
I kick off my boots and chase after her. A forceful lift-off from the shift, my body slices into the water with a sharp splash. The ocean slaps my skin, chilling every nerve as my arms sweep wide.
Salt stings my eyes as the ocean pushes me, creating distance from the ship. My vision blurs as the dark ocean reflects more darkness. My lungs strain as I swim deeper, chasing her shadow thrashing.
Good. Found her.
