Chapter Four - Marking Her

Lysander

“Why did you do that?! Why would you heal her with our blood? I'm not taking a human for a mate! What the hell is wrong with you?!" I questioned my beast as I got inside my room, raging in anger.

“You don't want a human as a mate but I do. And I wasn't going to let her die because of your own selfish interest." He answered leisurely.

“Are you even listening to yourself talk? Do you want all our hard work of years to just plummet to the ground just because the moon goddess made a mistake by pairing us with a human?"

He growled in my head, "The moon goddess never makes mistakes, she knew what she was doing when she was pairing us, Aria is mine, whether you like it or not!”

I've not been this angry in a while, even the event that provoked me to take over the humans didn't anger me this much. Taking a human for a mate is like asking for problems because it will never end well. She's weak and she'll make me weak too.

“You could have just left her alone to die! She's going to end us, can't you see it?!"

That rejection is meant to make her weak to the extent that she'll die, she was never going to survive it. But he took over completely from me and healed her with our blood, making the bond between us even stronger.

“Aria is mine." He mentioned, making me put a very strong mental block between us. The mere mention of her name makes me angry.

And honestly, I knew the moon goddess hated me. But this? Is it meant to be a punishment for all the bad things I've done? A mate bond with a human will really ruin me.

“I need to run." I growled, angrily running towards the back door. I shifted mid air with my clothes on and dashed towards the thick bushes behind the palace.

Today's one of those days when I have to eat with my pack, it's actually just the coming together of the alphas scattered round the kingdom. The alphas are my immediate pack members.

“Lysander, the planner is coming this evening. She needs to show us some designs, so they'll know how the hall will be decorated on that day." Aurora said to me almost immediately after I took my seat.

Right, our mating ceremony is coming up in three days. I had to rush it up as that was the only option the witch told me was needed for the bond between me and that human to be broken. And Aurora was more than happy, even though she doesn't know the real reason behind the preponement.

“Just pick anyone you think is nice." I answered vaguely.

The maids started bringing in the meals at that same time. And that sweet scent of the person that's meant to be my mate wafted into my nostrils. Really? Why's the universe even treating me this way?

I closed my eyes and opened them again to zone out or something, but the scent just kept getting closer. She was coming to my table.

When she got here, I was literally just breathing in her scent and nothing more. My beast started stirring so hard, trying to take over. This is his fault, I wouldn't be feeling drawn to her if he had just let the rejection take place.

“Are you okay, Lysander?" Aurora asked me, making me look at her. I didn't even realize that I've been staring at Aria. Her name has refused to leave my head also.

“I'm good." I said, just as my wine spilled. It dropped off Aria's hand, the entire liquid spilled to the ground, some splashed on Aurora since she was closer to her.

“What the hell, mutt?! What have you done? Do you have an idea of how much my dress costs? And you ruined it just like that! Oh, you'll be so sorry for this.” Aurora yelled, attracting a lot of attention.

Aria was shaking on the spot, looking like she'd collapse out of fear anytime soon. So pathetic. And the moon goddess wants her to be my mate, funny.

Two guards immediately marched towards her and seized her.

“We apologize, your majesty, ma'am. We'll make sure she gets the desired punishment." One of them said,

“Leave her, let her go." I spoke up. Everyone in the room looked right at me.

“Your majesty?" The guard who spoke earlier said.

“You want to question my authority?" I asked him simply and they both let her go, dropping on their knees instead.

“I didn't mean to say that, your majesty. I apologize deeply." He said.

“Get her out of here." I commanded them and they did just that.

“What did you just do?" Aurora asked me and I fully ignored the question.

If Aria was to be tortured, I'd feel the pain too as we're still bonded. I feel the little ones some people do to her here, including the littlest pickle by a pin.

“Can we have the mating ceremony this evening?" I asked her instead. Her eyes widened so much that they looked like they'd fall off.

“What? What did you just say?" She asked me.

I stood up instead, “Listen up everyone, my mating ceremony with Aurora will come up in three hours time. Everyone in this room is invited." I said.

"Wow.”

"Congratulations, your majesty.”

"This is really good news.”

"Finally, the kingdom needs a Queen.”

Different remarks started coming from different corners of the room, I took that as my cue to leave. They can continue all that Aurora. My beast is about to tear off my skin.

I soon couldn't hold on with the mental barrier again, he succeeded in bringing it down.

“Have you even forgotten that you're not the only one getting mated here, I'm a part of you too, and you're meant to consider my choices." Here we go…

"The mating ceremony of the king of werewolves, Lysander Blackwood with Aurora Woods starts now.” The kingdom’s priest announced, commanding silence in the hall.

He brought forward a container that had a crown engraved on it. That container was used by the first ever werewolf king and Queen and has been used since then.

“We'll need a bit of your blood, your majesty." He said as he got to me. I stretched out my hand and he made a cut on my skin with a dagger.

Aurora was so excited that she stretched out her hand too immediately he collected droplets of blood from me. He did the same for her too, and he mixed the blood with some equipment.

“You'll now say the oath of allegiance to the kingdom, Miss Aurora. So you can be crowned Queen." He told her. He mentioned some words and she repeated after him, pledging her allegiance to the kingdom.

He did some more things then it was time for me to mark Aurora. This is the only part that I need here, I want to use this to break every bond I have with that human. I've been restless ever since I set my eyes on her.

“You can now mark her, your highness."

The whole hall went really quiet as everyone anticipated me marking her. I drew Aurora closer to me and took my mouth to her neck.

Just as my teeth were about to descend on her neck, a very loud and powerful thunder struck. It was so powerful that it threw me off Aurora.

Before I knew what was happening, my beast had taken over and he located Aria immediately, sinking his teeth into her neck instead.
