I'd promised Elowen I would speak to Hardin on her behalf to get her a job, but instead found myself blindsided completely by something I hadn't planned for at all.
The question he'd just asked me rang in my ears so loudly I felt weak straight down to my bones, momentarily forgetting whatever it was I'd even come here to discuss.
