The next day, we left early. Just the two of us. The path led upward through the hills, the air cooler as we climbed. Axis followed silently, occasionally swatting at mosquitoes, occasionally muttering about how "You never mentioned it was uphill cardio." I laughed. "I told you it's worth it."
