I hear a scream and instantly recognise the voice. I sprint across the park and my steps come to a halt when I see Maria and that . . . that prick.
"Maria." I say and she turns to look at me.
The pained expression on her face throws me off-guard.
I take hold of her arms and with a slight inclination of my head towards that prick's direction, I say, "Did he hurt you?"
Instead of answering, she lets out a painful whimper. And clutches her clothes into a tight fist.
Without a second thought, I let go of Maria's arms and my fist collides with the prick's jaw.
