“You’ll have to fix my appointments, book my flights, prepare everything necessary for the trip, make my coffee, remind me of important events as well as other necessary things” Ethan instructed while glancing through some files.
“Get me those files” He pointed to some documents.
“What is the matter?” He asked as she stood there, startled. “You don’t want the job?” He questioned.
“No sir, I am just surprised. I haven’t even applied and you are giving me the job already?” She explained.
“Oh, that!” He smiled. “Fred does not lie. He recommended you to me and whatever Fred says is what I follow”
“Okay, thank you, sir”.
“Get me the file” He reminded her again.
“Okay sir” She smiled at the shelf, maybe he is not as difficult as she thought, she wondered. She took the file and rushed to him.
“Thank you” His lips curved into a smile. Then she noticed his facial features; his sharp jaw lines, neatly carved brows, ocean blue eyes, and a pointed nose.
“Your office is next to mine. When I need you, I'll ring a bell. Also, Is that clear?” He gave a warming smile.
“Alright sir” She smiled too. Ethan picked up the telephone and placed a call. “I need you here” He ordered. “Sit” He offered her a chair.
“Thank you, sir” She smiled but he only replied with a nod, concentrating on the files he was looking at. A middle-aged man entered and bowed to Ethan.
“This is Gianna my new PA.” He introduced “Gianna, this is Evans, he is, something like my PA educator?”
“PA educator?” She wondered. She has never heard of a thing like that.
“He’ll brief you about everything you need to know.” She looked at Evans and he smiled at her in response.
“You can leave now” He ordered.
Evans bowed again before leaving the office.
“Send a notification to all the departments, there is going to be a meeting slated for..” He checked his wristwatch. “noon today. I'm going to introduce you to everyone” He added.
“Okay sir”
“You may leave” He instructed. “And yes!”
“Is there anything I can do for you, sir?” She questioned politely.
“Make a reservation for a table for two at Kester Restaurant. 7 pm tomorrow. In my name of course” He focused on the files.
“A table for two?” She thought out loud.
“Yes. A table of two. My woman and I” He looked at her.
“Oh!” She shook her head in affirmation before walking out gently. She settled into her office, small and beautiful. She smiled.
She picked up her phone and dialed Elizabeth’s number. On the third ring, Elizabeth picked up her phone.
“I'll call you later Annie, I'm busy as of now.” She hung up. Gianna threw her phone to the table. She was so elated. Is this a dream? She thought. Really? He didn’t turn her down, he didn’t complain about her physique. Well, if it is a dream, she wasn’t willing to wake up.
She quickly picked up her phone and made the reservations, in his name as he had ordered. She unlocked the company’s computer system allocated to her office and checked the email.
“What!” She held her head. “205 messages! This is not good” She shook her head and began opening it, replying to it as needed.
“Can I come in?” Evans stood at the entryway of her office.
“Of course!” She smiled.
“Hi, I am Evans. Evans Carlton” He stretched his hand; for a handshake.
“I am Gianna Barlowe” She smiled and took the handshake.
“Welcome! To Asteroid Technologies”
“Thanks”
“So down to business” He began to educate her on every necessary detail she needed to know. She let out soft laughter occasionally. Evans smiled too.
Just then, they heard a knock.
“What! The boss himself!” Evans stood up quickly.
“You can come in sir” Gianna answered.
“Of course, I can. It’s my company.” He frowned.
Do I smell arrogance here?
“I'm sorry sir” She pleaded.
“Get going. You are done with her, aren’t you?”
“Yes, boss” He bowed.
“Get going" He crossed his arms.
“Okay boss”
Gianna stood on the same spot, confused by how the sweet loving boss she met a few minutes ago would change to a scary aggressive, and arrogant man. She sighed. “Could he just leave already?” She thought
“Did you send the notification to every department?”
“Yes, I did. It is slated for noon as you ordered. In 45 minutes”
He scanned her through her body from head to toe like he was searching for something. Gianna shifted uncomfortably as it was like his gaze could pierce through her soul.
“Good. Till then, I need to take you on a tour around the company. You need to know every nook and cranny of this company. Come with me” He ordered and she followed.
They both got into the elevator, and he took her around the company, showing her various departments as well as informing her of their various functions.
“It’s 5 minutes to the meeting sir” She reminded him.
“Sure” He smiled at her and then, they headed to the second floor where the meeting was to take place. He walked into the hall, and important members of staff were seated, awaiting his arrival.
Upon seeing him, they all rose in unison. He walked in and sat down. He instructed them all to sit.
“Good day everyone”
“Good day sir” They chorused.
“You all might be surprised by the emergency meeting I called for. Well, I would like to introduce to you, a new member of this company. Miss Gianna Barlowe, my new personal assistant. She would be a regular face in this company so do not be surprised if you find her anywhere in this company. I would like you all to introduce yourself”
“I am Nadir Ankit, I am the HR Manager.”
“I am John McCain, I am the marketing and sales manager”
“I am Danielle Daniel, I am the production manager”
“I am Sara O’Neill, I am the chief programmer”
“I am David Jones, I am the chief system analyst”
Each member of staff took turns in introducing themselves, even till the last person.
“Any new update on project A6X?” He questioned and turned to the project manager.
“Yes, boss” He smiled. “There is a new improvement. Just like a normal human, project A6X can tell apart human feelings by facial expressions”
“Wow, that’s beautiful. Good job everyone. We would be launching it on the 22nd of next month.”
“Okay boss. We’ll try our best” The project manager smiled.
“No. Do not try your best, give in your best. Having said that, this meeting is dismissed. He stood up and walked out.
“Gianna!” A male voice called. Not sure of it was, she turned.
“Hi, I am Simon Owen” He stretched his hands; for a handshake.
“Simon Owen, one of the programmers?” She questioned.
“Yes,” He smiled.
“Nice to meet you” She took his hands.
“Uhm. Where are you headed to?”
“My office” She smiled.
“Come on, it’s lunchtime, let’s go have lunch. I'll show you the cafeteria"
“Really? How about me?” Evans appeared from the blues.
“Let’s all go together” Gianna suggested with a smile plastered on her face.
“How long have you guys been working with him?” She questioned, breaking the silence as they walked to the restaurant.
“I’ve been working here since Asteroid Technologies came into existence. However, I have been working with his father for two years before I came here. His father owns Wild Technologies, you know?” Simon asked.
“I've worked with Ethan for a very long time” Evans smiled.
“Here,” Simon showed her in.
“We have just forty-five minutes for lunch so we have to hurry” He informed Gianna.
“Ethan does not like being delayed” Evans informed her “Most especially by his PA” He added.
“Alright,” She nodded. They had their lunch and walked back to their respective offices.
“Till we meet again” Simon smiled and waved at her. She reciprocated the act too.
“See you soon” Evans smiled at her and walked away too. She hurriedly went back to her office.
On getting there, she was shocked. Ethan was sitting on her chair, legs crossed, head bowed, fingers hitting on the table.
“You are three minutes late” He raised his head.
“I'm sorry” She pleaded.
“I have zero tolerance for lateness” He frowned.
“I’m sorry” She pleaded again. He stood up quietly, maintaining the frown on his face.
“I've been ringing the bell for a while. Meet me in my office” He spoke as he headed to his office
“Henceforth, you won’t go to the cafeteria with other staff members. You would go with me always”. He adjusted himself on his chair.
Gianna was taken aback by his reactions. “Okay sir” She bowed. She wondered the kind of person he was. For a minute, he smiles. The next minute, he turns monstrous.
“Good. I believe you are adjusting to our conduct and style?” He smiled.
“Yes, I am”
“You can go, I just wanted to check on you. How about the reservations?”
“I made it sir. In your name, as you have instructed”
“Good. I don’t want my woman to be disappointed. She is a supermodel and she has great taste. I want a place as beautiful as her. No place can be as pretty as she is though” He smiled, carefully rubbing the picture frame of a woman whom Gianna presumed was ‘his woman.
Just then, a lady walked in. A lady in her mid-twenties, with almond-shaped eyes, a pointed nose, cupid bow lips, an oval-shaped face, and an hourglass shape. Her perfume was enough to make one go nuts and on top of it all….
“Hey baby” She smiled.
She had a pretty smile and an angelic voice too. She was perfection in human form. She was pretty indeed.
The lady walked in gently, watching her steps. She looked at Gianna before walking to sit on Ethan’s lap.
“She looks unfamiliar. Is she new?” She asked placing a light kiss on his cheeks.
“Yes, my new P. A” He kissed her.
“Oh! A high school student?” She eyed her.
“No” He chuckled. “She just doesn’t look her age”
