Ascension of Midnight

The cliff was no longer a cliff. It was a fractured battlefield suspended between ocean and sky, lit by starlight bleeding from Elara’s veins and silver fire burning in Ronan’s. The First Hunger reared back, its impossible form looming over the shattered edge. Water poured from its maw in thick torrents, each drop splitting into blackened steam when it hit the glowing cracks spiderwebbing across the stone. Ronan landed in front of Elara with a bone-rattling thud, massive paws carving trenches into the ground. His chest rose in heaving breaths, fur rippling with silver-light veins, eyes burning with a midnight glow that didn’t belong to any wolf ever born. He snarled at the creature— A warning. A promise. A declaration of war. Elara hovered behind him, suspended by her own shadows.
