I read the message three times.

Lena read it over my shoulder.
"Absolutely not," she said.
"He has something," I said.
"He's bluffing," she said.

Kieran took the phone from my hand and read it himself. His face didn't change but his eyes did. Something dark moved through them.
"What could Nico have been keeping?" I said.
Kieran set the phone down.
"I don't know."
"Think," I said.
Kieran was quiet for a moment.
"Before the island," he said slowly. "Nico told me he had insurance. Something that would end me if I ever came after him." He paused. "I thought he was bluffing."
"What kind of insurance?" Lena said.
"I don't know," Kieran said. "I didn't ask. I should have asked."
