Chapter Four: I Have An Offer For You Gabriel Morgan leaned back on the brown leather couch, a crystal glass of brandy dangling loosely between his fingers. A beautiful and fair lady draped herself over his lap, running a perfectly manicured fingers along the collar of his unbuttoned shirt as they enjoyed the evening together. “You are so hot baby”, she purred, pressing a soft kiss on his lips “ let me help you relax” Gabriel exhaled, holding her by the waist as his eyes lingered her whole body. She was beautiful, like the others, but just as forgettable. He had been with countless women of different classes; models, heiresses, even actresses. But none of them ever meant anything to him. They all come to him with ulterior motives, not like they loved him. It's either they want his name, wealth or power. And he has no intention of marrying any of them. His phone suddenly rang.snapping him out of his thoughts, with an annoyed sigh he reached for it “Yes Father?” He answered a little bit tensed. “This is the height of your foolishness, Gabriel” David Morgan’s voice boomed through the speaker. “For Goodness sake, you are the only heir to the Morgan name. It's time you settle down and take a wife. This play boy lifestyle of yours is totally unacceptable” Gabriel ran a frustrated hand through his dark hair. “But Father, I have no interest in getting married.” Listen Gabriel, “You don't have a choice”, his Father snapped. “We have an image to uphold and the share holders are growing impatient with your Careless behavior. You better find a suitable woman or I will do it for you.” His Father hung up, leaving Gabriel with a scowl on his face. He knew his Father meant every word, and he needs to find a solution. Sophia stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the soft pink blouse she paired with a sleek black pencil shirt. She spent extra time on her makeup, ensuring it was okay. Taking a deep breath, Sophia grabbed her bag and left for the company after taking breakfast with her mother and brother. Upon arriving at Morgan Oil, she walked up to the receptionist's desk with confidence. “Good morning, I'm Sophia Livingston. I have an interview scheduled today.” The receptionist gave her a warm smile before picking up the phone to call the secretary. After some minutes, the receptionist responded. “Miss Livingston, please head this way.” She said pointing towards the CEO office Sophia nodded clutching her resume as she walked into the elevator. The moment she stepped into the CEO’s office, her breath caught in her throat, as if she had seen a ghost. Sitting behind the massive mahogany desk was the same handsome man she saved from a bar fight a few weeks ago Gabriel had the same expression. His piercing blue eyes widened, and for the first time in a long while, Gabriel was at a loss for words. “You ?” Sophia whispered. And then, a smirk formed on his lips as he leaned forward, studying her closely. “Well, well. It is indeed my beautiful savior” Sophia felt the heat rise to her cheeks as he starred at her without blinking. He is even more handsome in daylight, his tailored suit complimented his chiseled features and good looks. Gabriel could not take his eyes off her, she is stunning. Elegant, not like the women he is used to. An idea began forming in his head. Gabriel and Sophia took some moments to introduce themselves to each other. Gabriel leaned back in his chair, there was a mischievous glint in his eye. “I have an offer for you,Sophia.” She frowned. “An offer?” Gabriel steepled his fingers together. “ You want to work for my company, right?” She nodded slowly “Then how about this ? You will get the job but on one condition.” Sophia narrowed her eyes. “What condition is that?” She asked. A devilish smile curled on his lips. “Be my fake fiancée.” Sophia eyes widened, stunned, “Excuse me, what did you just say?” “You heard me Sophia”. His voice smooth and persuasive, “ my family is pressuring me to get married, you need the job. It's a win- win for both of us.” She shook her head. “I am sorry Mr. Morgan, I don't mix work with personal matters”. “Calll me Gabriel”. He leaned closer. “ Think about it, Sophia. This isn't just about me, it will benefit you as well.” Sophia did not like the idea. Torn between reason and the undeniable pull of curiosity. Her mind raced with the weight of her financial struggles, the creditors had been relentless, her father is bedridden, and her family depends on her to lift them from poverty. Her lips parted and she finally spoke. “I came here for a job, not some kind of relationship” Gabriel shrugged, but there was something in his gaze, “ Sophia the job is still yours. But the arrangement benefits both of us. I get my father off my back and you and your family become financially stable”. Sophia clenched her fingers holding tight the strap of her bag. The thought of pretending to be engaged to a man like Gabriel is something she is not sure of. But still she needs to help her family. “Alright” she breathed. “ I’ll do it.” Gabriel smiled sheepishly, just as he was about to seal the deal, his office door burst open. A blonde woman strode in, her face filled with rage. “Gabriel Morgan, who the hell is she?” Sophia barely had the time to react before the woman dropped a glass of water at Gabriel's desk making it splash on his desk. Gabriel got angry, “what are you doing Evelyn?” “Gabriel you ignored my calls and here you are cozying up with this thing.” The woman yelled. Sophia felt angry, “ who is she referring to as a thing, not like she is beautiful”. Gabriel simply stood and smirked Evelyn, he said, his voice laced with amusement, “ meet my financée” Sophia's breath stopped for a second as Evelyn’s furious gaze snapped towards her. The air in the office thickened with tension, and for the first time, Sophia wondered if she had just made a deal with the devil himself.
