KAYLA POV
After yesterday's scenario with Lucas, I couldn't decipher the kind of personality he truly is. He was calm but lustful in that restroom, but his aura in the business world and personal life is unmatched. I couldn't understand why he let his guard down then. It's just like a one-time drop.
Remembering that today was the beginning of a new week, I had to leave for work. That's what my alarm reminded me. I picked up my pace and executed my preparation for work. In no time, I'd left home heading to the office.
During my time, everything seemed normal till I realized that the company was an upgraded beehive. Sighting Hunter, I doubled my pace to meet him.
"Good morning, what's going on", I inquired because of the increased movement of staff.
"The Boss is expecting a full house today", Hunter broke the nutshell of the situation.
The full house meeting will happen in a while. It comprises the board of directors and major shareholders meeting with the CEO and major staff of the company. This meeting does happen when a major decision is about to be taken.
"Alright, thanks Hunter", I appreciated it and left for my workspace.
I tried tidying up old files and document trashing ones that need to be trashed. I also documented some of them that are important. I couldn't complete the tasks then because I was called in by Lucas (CEO). While I was busy working in my role, Mr. Lucas walked in, and I felt his superior aura filling the 1st floor I walked on.
I stood up and saw Mr Lucas being in his usual luxury mode. Everything about him must correspond to the rules of his proposed dress code. He walked up to me gracefully.
"Good morning Sir", I greeted him with a slight bow as a sign of respect.
He looked at me oddly, and I remembered my experience with myself at Value Hotels. After a brief moment of his inspection, he nodded and signaled me to follow him. From the nod he gave, I was in his right fashion style. Truly, he's a man of class.
Entering his huge office, the large mahogany desk was filled with documents which I had to filter out important ones from non-important ones. While working, he sat on his sofa adjacent to the desk while sipping red wine.
"I see you are trying to get over the shock of that dinner situation," Lucas said after a sip of red wine.
"I don't know, but I am adjusting," I said while still continuing the cleanup at his desk.
I heard footsteps approaching after he stood up from the sofa. He walked towards me and held my chin up.
"Whatever happens, no one must hear about the relationship we had. "Not even Naomi. "Your mother should have a clue about the relationship we shared between us," he warned while looking at me straight in the eyes.
I nodded as I felt muted to speak because his aura silenced my mouth.
The land telephone rang, and he left my chin to respond. After he hung up the call, he told me to get ready as we'd be moving to the full house meeting.
"We?" I asked, knowing fully well that other CEOs before him didn't permit me to enter as the full house rules forbid that.
According to the rules, no members of the staff, including the CEO, are permitted to bring their personal assistant to the meeting. It was an executive meeting according to the house and business means business.
"Yes, we. "Any problems?" he asked, knowing the rules fully but wishing to deny them.
I reminded him of the rules, but he brushed them off, telling me I had to be with him in that meeting. With that, we moved into the meeting hall to notice the place arranged and decorated for the elite taste.
A few seconds later, boards of directors and major shareholders came into the meeting hall. The internal directors responsible for different departments were available.
They questioned my presence there, but Lucas intervened, pleading that I should be part of the meeting since he resumed leadership a few days ago. With that, they permitted me. From my guess, I knew that there were older folks managing the affairs of the company.
The meeting began fully as the main discussion was bringing in more workforce to stabilize the economics of the company. The CEO (Lucas) stood and did a presentation concerning the company's account drafted by me. At this point, I felt his aura hitting an all-time high as he delivered his presentation excellently.
The board of directors turned their attention to me, trying to understand my value at the company. Since they knew I was the secretary. I had different questions about the affairs of the company, but I answered all effortlessly. With that, they saw why Lucas pleaded that I should be part of the meeting.
With that, the full-house meeting ends with the task of analyzing the departments which workforce is needed most. I'll have to compile it and send it to the Human Resources department for execution. We waited for the hall to be vacant before we left.
After confirming that the meeting hall was empty, Lucas swiftly exited, his footsteps echoing with purpose across the polished floor. I followed closely behind, matching his brisk pace as we made our way back to his office. The tension that had gripped me during the earlier discussion began to loosen its hold, and I felt an urgent need to shake off the lingering unease that had settled in my chest. As we walked, I replayed the events in my mind, trying to piece together Lucas's reasoning.
At first, his actions had puzzled me ; why had he made such a bold move during the meeting? But as we reached the quiet sanctuary of his office, the fog of confusion began to clear. Lucas, I realized, wasn’t deeply versed in economic matters or the intricacies of other non-administrative affairs. His expertise lay in the structured world of administration, where he navigated policies and procedures with ease. To compensate for his limited knowledge in those other domains, he had strategically brought in someone with a sharper understanding of economic and related matters ;an expert who could fill the gaps in his own skill set.
A spark of admiration flickered within me as the brilliance of his approach sank in. “Such a clever strategy!” I exclaimed, unable to contain my appreciation for his foresight. Lucas’s decision wasn’t just pragmatic; it was a masterful play to ensure the team’s success by leveraging the strengths of others.
