How did We get Here? A Otherworldly Saga

Town of Runian

"Now Soldiers! Scout the entire perimeter now! If you spotted any sign of Demon... don't be stupid and report it to me."

"Yes! Sir Deen!"

A sudden command of the man with a full armor with a jagged hair. We are in the entrance of the town, it have a wall made out of stone bricks stacked together. The brick cut is so very precise and uniformal which make the wall look so symmetrical.

"Thanks for the ride, here's the fee. I would like to thank your master again, regards to her." The gentleman bowed to the driver of the carriage and offer him two coins that look like gold.

"Nah, it's a free service. Madam told me that's it's free, he must be like you." The driver said.

"Haha.... Alright, I am glad with your service, take care"

The driver went and so are we, but our group would be going to the gate of the town named Runian.

We walked in the entrance of the town with them. This place is full of activities and everyone is busy wherever I look. There was a stall who sells foodstuffs, magical weapons like staff and wand but there was a lack of weapons in the stall like sword which is vital to survivability of a normal citizens in a fantasy world, it might be just seperated in a different place perhaps.

This is a huge town full of people. I can see there are some classic fantasy races like beastfolks with variety of different inhuman uniqueness, Elves and Dark Elves with their long ears, and a lots of other people that cannot say for now, because we are on a location where our companies going.

I and Crystal just really following them for the sake of our safety, I mean this a safer place than the forest we just teleported in this world or a possibility of losing track in the stone path. Crystal is still on my side fiddling his hair, I can't really blame her if she is uncomfortable at this moment, but here we are going in the building that says in the sign atop of it:

"Welcome, do you have any business with the Peacekeeper?" said by the well dressed lady behind the counter after we went in the door.

"Yes, the Master of this office is waiting for us." The silver haired gentleman also shows his bracelet that hold something important.

"...Please follow me ladies and gentleman. Justine, man the Lobby." The female guide us into the halls that went in a room, the room sign says:

"Master Jester, you have a guess"

In a huge desk full of papers scrambling, there was a man who wear a glasses dozing and looking at the ceiling, his eyes are half close and it still closing but he went awake when the lady says his name.

"Ughhh.... Wha- Oh!"

He stand up immediately when he sees us in the door entrance.

"Hey~ come in~ sorry about the mess in my desk, Daisy can you please brew us a tea?"

"As you wish Master." The lady close the door as she silently walk out in the room.

We went in and sit down on a red couch, and it was comfortable to touch. This room is so huge compared to a normal room, the wall are brim with arts including a map that may probably map of this land. The map is so very well made that it look like a realistic view if you fly up the sky and look down below.

Oh... the red eyed lady is looking at me again with her red alluring eyes, she noticed that I was intrigued by the map and so I stop scanning the map and look to the other things I can looked at, was her name is Cate right?

We Crystal are a bit in the edge of the couch, and I don't really know what will going to happen right now, but I still trust Luca, the silver colored hair gentleman.

"Before we start talking, can I ask a favour Mister Jester?" Luca said.

The lady who have now a cart that contains the porcelain kettle, tea cup, and sweets went into the room. She settle all the tea cup and pour the hot tea with the side of the sweets.

Mostly all of us take the tea and sip it except for the armored guy, Deen. It was a good tea but coffee is better. Crystal also like it and she gobble up the sweets that the lady give to her, she is just that hungry.

"Hmmm... fine, what can I help?"

Luca looked at us, this is probably the time to address the elephant of the room, us.

"Those fella are stranded here in Ascheim and they say that they have been abandoned by their master. I can see that they don't have any sort of valuable on them which they can survive here. I would like to say that, can you help them to settle here in Runian?"

Crystal pass what are they talking to me, wow... I didn't really expect that. I am so baffle by the sheer kindness of this man, just amazing.

"That's why those two have a weird looking clothes, I just assume those where a new trend of fashion in the capital. I also don't want any juveniles rogue in my territory so I will help them, no charge given." He said.

Crystal suddenly stop eating all the sweets and freeze when she heard the conversion.

"T-Thanks but... why are you helping us? We are just strangers to you all?" She said still have a bits of cake in her cheek.

"Do you see this monocle? This monocle detect evil and I observe that you two are pure hearted being, I don't really know where land did you come from but I can safely say your land where you two came from is still not yet fully corrupted"

Crystal relayed what he said, that's concerning... I have quite not still understand that this is a world different from ours. At first glance, the monocle of the silver haired gentleman looks just a regular monocle, but I cannot guessed that it was magical item that I cannot still understand, at least for now.

"Daisy will help and guide you so please follow her and kindly obey what she say, you can now leave."

I can't disagree on that and I know this meeting is a bit important, we are intruding this meeting of theirs.

"I am very deeply appreciate all the help, I don't have anything in me to repay but we will repay you, that is a promise" I announced, of course they don't understand what I just say and so Crystal translate it so they know what I just said.

"Just repay me that you won't died in a freak accident like encountering a demon killing you both, just don't die okay?" Luca said.

We bid goodbye for now and we follow the guide named Daisey, she is a very infrequent talker. Crystal asked about the ingredients for the sweets she ate, but she replied in a uninterested tone saying "I don't know" making Crystal stop talking.

This building is very big and so the halls are long. The architectural design are so uncanny similar to a preserve building from the Victorian era I visit once in Europe, it have elegance and aesthetic feeling to it.

We stop on the brown door, she open it and we enter the room.

"Let's get over with this so please sit down" She said.

We sat down, she also sat down in her desk. The interior of the room is basically have a couch and a wide desk filled with various unfamiliar item. That's only in there in the room, this room defined minimalist.

She take a crystal ball connect to a machine with a horizontal slot on it.

"Put your hand in the crystal, so I can know your basic information. Don't worry, any confidential information you wanted not to be seen by me will be automatically redacted."

We followed her order, we touch the crystal ball and it glows dimly slowly before losing its light. Crystal also touch the ball after I touch it.

The machine spit a paper, she take the paper and she read it. I can see her eyes soaking all the info about us, this is so unnerving.

"You don't want to tell where you came from... But it's okay, you both are clean so let's move on"

After that precarious step, she take another items under her desk, two palm size pouch, a couple of paper slips, and a map.

"These were not a official help of the Peacekeeper so please don't tell anyone that Master help you to avoid confusion, any question?"

"Yeah, we have one... My friend doesn't know the language of this land."

"I see." She immediately grab another item and put it in the table.

"This is a Rosetta Necklace, basically it can translate any language including written ones, take it."

"This is free right and don't have any fee right?" Crystal said.

"Yes, but you can't sell this because it doesn't have a value, the reason is confidential so don't ask any further."

I respect the rules so I don't pressure any more questions. The guide also tell us that Demons are lurking in the plains which are a dangerous creature and she recommend us to stay in Runian until the extermination will be completed.

"That's all I can give, you both can now leave"

I already put the Rosetta Stone in my neck so I can understand what she is saying, she is not much a talker so we went out.

This is such a good start in this world, well except we encounter that boy in the forest but nonetheless we are safe and we got a head start thanks for that gentleman, I will definitely repay him.
