Chapter 3
One dashed forward, shrieking as it's bony fingers aimed for Samuel’s head. “Duck!”. Arthur yelled as Samuel squatted immediately.
With a swift swoosh, he made a huge cut on the Skarvs chest, sending it crashing into the building behind it.
Seeing this, the others shrieked in anger as they attacked simultaneously. One drew it's long bow, aiming it's abnormally long arrow at Arthur.
The arrow tore through the air, making a whistling sound as it got deflected by Arthur's sword. The other aimed at Samuel shooting multiple arrows at him.
Ducking and dodging, he managed to escape the arrows by mere inches. Another mighty crash could be heard as another Skarv flew into a stall.
The once quiet night now filled with the clashing sounds of sword against arrows. “How do we defeat them?” Samuel asked, as he scurried away through the rubbles.
“See their chest?” Arthur asked, still maintaining his stance. He seemed calm as usual. “Yeah, what about it?” Samuel asked.
“We need to pierce their hearts…one clean s***h should do it”. Saying this, Arthur positioned himself, ready for another attack as the Skarvs regrouped.
Dropping their long bows, they looked crazily at the duo as their fingers elongated. One by one, they dashed forward, attacking Arthur with enough force to send him flying.
Not moving an inch from his stance, Arthur deflected all their attacks, his sword making a clashing sound on each impact.
“Sam…once I give the signal, run towards the fountain”. He said brandishing his sword. The attacks continued as they made Arthur their target, realizing his strength.
“Now!”. Arthur yelled as Samuel ran towards the fountain. With Samuel a good distance from him, Kyrell took of his mask. His hood falling softly behind him.
Seeing this, the Skarvs shrieked upon his sight. Their eyes which was once filled with rage, now filled with fear, as they slowly took shaky steps back.
Not letting them take another step, Arthur took just a step, appearing behind one of the Skarvs as it's head fell of it's body. The others shrieked in terror as they watched it's body go up in a scorching blue flame.
Almost immediately, Samuel took out his lute, a smug smile on his face as he stepped out from behind the fountain. He started singing again, his voice louder this time.
“Ohh…there will come a soldier, who carries mighty sword. He will tear your city down, oh lei oh Lai oh Lord!...he will tear your city down, oh lei oh Lai oh Lord!!”.
The Skarvs eyes darted back and forth between Arthur and Samuel who continued playing. Turning around in a very smooth motion, they dashed forward, trying to get as far away as possible from Arthur.
Taking another step, he appeared in front of one, it's shoulders falling to the ground helplessly as it screamed. With a swift swoosh, it's head fell to the ground as well.
“Arthur!...look out!!” Samuel yelled. Turning around, the last Skarv has it's entire wrists inside Arthur’s chest. Within seconds, it's boney arm shattered, as Arthur delivered the last strike.
The village became quiet once more. Only the creaking sound of broken windows could be heard. “I never get used to this”. Samuel said, walking up to him as he cleaned his sword, placing it back into it's sheath.
Arthur gave a smile which didn't reach his eyes. “C'mon…grab what you need”. He said as he mounted Balor. Samuel nodded as he scurried off, wrapping some items in a cloak.
“Do you think the villagers would know when to return?” He asked as he mounted Karen, feeding her an apple. “Yes”. Arthur said shortly as they trotted out of the village.
They continued down the path as the sun rose, casting a golden glow on the c*****e left behind.

“Riding my stead with a godly grace as I thrusted my spear through the boars heart!”. A man, clad in a golden Knights armor yelled as he held a chalise in hand.
She rolled eyes looking bored by the minute. “My princess” he started, holding her hands in his palm. “When I make you mine, I'll be the greatest king in all of Merania!!”.
“Excuse me ser, but the princess needs her rest now”. An old man clad in a long white robe said as he approached them.
Taking her hands gently from the man, he nodded towards the knight as they walked back into the castle.
“Thank you Marlowe”. She gave him a gentle smile as they climbed the stairs leading to the palace doors.
“I can't stand it anymore…I don't find anyone of them interesting”. She said they continued inside the palace. The guards bowed low upon seeing her.
“I understand you my dear, but you have to choose a husband soon”. Marlowe said gently. “I know that…but what if I don't want to get married”. She said, her furrows deep.
“Elara…”. “I know what you're about to say Marlowe, sigh, can I see my father?” Elara asked.
Marlowe smiled softly before nodding his head. She curtsied before turning around, heading for the throne room.
“Her highness, princess Elara”. The bard announced as the huge oak doors opened, revealing a stunning throne room.
Chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, with a red carpet running from the door to the foot of the throne stairs. The walls painted white as purple banners with a lion's crest hung from the windows.
Walking in, she approached gracefully, her eyes on the man sitting on the throne with a smile on his face.
Reaching the stairs, she curtsied. “Long live king Xandros, the celestial emperor”. She greeted, her head bowed.
A laugh echoed around the room. “Elara, my princess”. King Xandros called, his eyes beeming with love for his daughter. She looked up, pouting at him as she climbed the stairs.
“So what do you think of Aurelion?” He asked as he gestured to the sit beside him. “It was awful father…he kept ranting about his achievements”. She complained.
“So…that's a no?” He asked looking at her. “Of course father…I'm sorry, but I just don't want to be with anyone right now”. She said, fundling with her fingers.
“I understand my sunshine…sigh…what do you want?” He asked her, knowing her reply already. Ske looked up at him excitedly, her eyes gleaming.
“I'd love to walk around the market…I mean, if I was to rule this great kingdom one day, I should get used to my people”. She said with a sheepish smile.
Her father creased his brows. “Sigh…you won't let me hear the end of this”. He said as he placed a strand of her silver hair behind her ears. “Fine…just for today, you can go to the town”. He said.
She stood up immediately, giving him a hug. “Thank you father, she said before turning around. “On one condition”. King
Xandros said.
“You'll have to go with Kaelith” he said as her eyes widened in surprise.
