Adira I Want You

Aries POV

    “Elijah, Everett and their sister Adira are going to be at the bonfire tonight.” My brother Alec informed me while we were sitting in my office.

    I am the Alpha of the Harvest Moon pack and Alec is acting Beta right now since the twins can’t take their rolls until they move here permanently.

    “I will be going to make sure that there is no trouble and to make sure that the secret is kept from Adira. She still doesn’t have a clue about any of this and she can’t until it is the right time.”

    He doesn’t respond just nods because he understands the importance of making sure Adira doesn’t know anything about what we are and what she is until the proper time. She needs to get used to being around the pack, but she can’t know anything about it until the prophesied time.

    “Mindlink a few of the pack warriors and tell them to come and keep an eye one the party I don’t want anything tonight.” I say to Alec

    “Yes Alpha.” He says and leaves my office.

    I turn to look out the window rubbing my head. I am nervous about seeing Adira tonight. Our parents thought that we might be mates and so I haven’t been able to see her for the last 3 years. Men get our wolf and shift for the first time at the age of 16 and Women get theirs at 18. When our wolves emerge, we can find our mates. My parents wanted to be careful because if she is my mate it would be very hard to control my wolf around her and I would be miserable until I could be with her. She can’t know anything about wolves until the time is right. I just hope tonight will go smoothly and nothing bad will happen.

    I check the time and quickly get ready then I mindlink my brother, ‘Grab the car and make sure that everyone knows that they need to be extra careful tonight.’

    ‘Sounds good. I will let everyone know and I will be sure to keep an extra eye on some of the ladies’ He mindlinked back. I chuckled at his last statement because he is a player through and through.

    I get down to the car and we head to the bonfire. When we arrive my wolf, Titan starts to pace in my head.

    ‘Hey Titan, what’s up with you. I can’t concentration with you doing that’

    ‘I think our mate is here’ is all he says back to me and he immediately has my attention.

    As soon as I step out of the car, I smell the most amazing scent I have ever smelled. It smelled like jasmine and fresh rain and I followed it not really paying attention to anyone on the way.

    My wolf stops pacing and howls in my head ‘MATE’

    I stopped right before the fire and saw her sitting there watching the flames. She is the most beautiful person I have ever laid my eyes on. Then I realized who it was, Adira Collins. Our parents were right, and I know if I would have seen her any sooner than this, I probably would have never been able to control myself or my wolf.

     She has definitely grown up since the last time I saw her. I started to check her out while she didn’t know I was there. Her olive skin was flawless, and she had kicking curves. She had the cutest freckles that dotted her nose and curly brown hair that came down just to the top of her breasts. I walk towards her and she still doesn’t look up, so I sit down next to her making her jump.

    “Sorry I didn’t mean to scary you, Adria.” I apologize staring into her blue eyes that look at me quizzically. I realize quickly that she doesn’t remember me.

    “I am sorry, but have we met before?” She asks quietly.

    “You don’t remember me?” I ask grabbing my chest like she wounded me.

    “Elijah, Everett and I have been friends since we were in 3rd grade and your family started visiting Michigan. I haven’t been around the last few years when you guys have been up.” I watch as it starts to click, and she seems to recognize who I am. I smile at her hoping to ease her nervousness a little bit when Everett comes up to us.

    “Aries, what’s up man!” he said. Then we went in for a bro hug. I missed Everett for sure, but I wanted to talk to Adira some more.

    “Alec said you might show up, but he didn’t know for sure if you were coming or not.” Everett continued.

    “Yeah I had a few things I had to take care of but then I heard you guys were coming and I couldn’t miss seeing you guys again.” We both knew that if I didn’t see them today, I would have seen them sometime during their stay, but I said it anyway because Adira was listening.

    “I am super excited to see you and I know Elijah will be too. He is off with his girl right now.” Everett said but he meant that Elijah had found his mate, but we couldn’t say that in front of Adira. I would have to tell him later that his sister is my mate, but I would do that when we weren’t in front of anyone else. It needed to be kept a secret for right now.

    “So, we might not see him the rest of the….” He stopped talking as I smelled another pack coming out of the woods. Both of our heads whipped towards where the smell was coming from. Hayden Miller and some of his pack come strutting out of the woods.

    Hayden is the Alpha of the Dark Moon pack and we aren’t on good terms. He is cocky, immature and thinks he owns everything. Basically, we try to stay out of each other’s way but right now I am not in the mood to deal with his s**t.

    ‘Elijah, I know you just found your mate but Dark Moon his here.’

    ‘I am coming’ He doesn’t even question and I know he will be here soon.

    “You decided to have a party and not invite us? Especially with a person as beautiful as her here?” He said winking at Adira. I must control Titan and make sure he doesn’t shift but I let out a warning growl.

    “What do you think you are doing here Hayden?” I grit through my teeth.

    Hayden chuckles and says, “You don’t own the place Aries it is public property and I heard there were some new people in town, so we came to check it out for ourselves.”

    I look over and Everett is standing protectively in front of Adira making me feel a little bit better. Then I hear Elijah coming up behind us and he come and stands next to me.

    “And we like a good party so why don’t you just let us stick around for a little bit and hangout?” Hayden said smirking

    I consider it for a second and know if I don’t let them it might end up bad.

    “If you so much as do one thing that I don’t like you guys are all leaving, or we will kick your asses.”

    ‘Aries are you sure about this man?’ Elijah mindlinks.

    ‘I don’t want to risk them turning or starting something right now and we don’t need that around Adira.’ I minklink both Elijah and Everett.

    They nod back understanding but are still pissed at my decision.

    “Sure, you will just like last time right Aries?” Hayden snickered.

    I gritted my teeth and glared at him as Hayden started to walk away. Before we were out of ear shot Everett yelled to him.

    “And stay away from my sister! Got it?”

    Hayden smirked while Everett glared at him waiting for him to answer him.

     “I can’t promise she won’t stay away from me.” He winked at Adira again and Elijah almost lunged for him, but I held him back. At that Hayden and his friends walked away to another part of the party.

    The boys and I start talking amongst each other and try to ignore what just happened but Adira didn’t let it go.

    “Who and what was that?” Adira said.

    I look at Adira then to Hayden and back to the guys. I don’t know what to say to her because I don’t know how without everything else coming out.

    ‘How can we explain what just happened without everything else coming up.’ I ask Elijah and Everett through mindlink

    ‘She is going to be suspicious no matter what we say. She is always questioning everything that we do here since we were younger, and it is all coming to a head now that her shift is coming soon.’ Elijah mindlinked back.

    ‘Dad also said that she overheard some things that him and our uncle were discussing so she probably already on high alert after that. She isn’t dumb and very observative.’ Everett said in the mindlink.

    Suddenly she stands up and narrows her eyes at us.

    “I am going for a swim if you guys ever decide to tell me you know where to find me.” She says stomping off towards the beach.

    I sigh knowing that we should have just came up with a lame excuse about why we had a confrontation like that will Hayden. I step to go after her when Everett stops me.

    “When she gets like that it is just best to leave her alone to cool off for a bit. She will come back up when she is ready.” He says.

    I nod my head because they know her better than I do at the moment. I decide that now is as good of a time as any to tell them that she is my mate. I take a deep breath and turn to them preparing for the worst.

    “Hey guys so uh Adira is my mate.” I say scratching my head waiting for them to at least take a swing at me even though they know I can’t control who my mate is.

    They both look at me with huge grins and wrap me in a huge hug. This is for sure not what I was expecting from them right now.

    “Our parents were right. Honestly, we have been prepared for this.” Elijah said.

    “We weren’t happy when our parents had first told us the theory and wanted to strangle you then, but we have had 3 years to get over that.” Everett chuckled.

    “Well I am glad we couldn’t be around each other when you found out then.” I laughed.

    We talked for a little bit longer and then Elijah ran off to go find his mate not being able to away from her any longer and I envied him for it. I wanted to go find Adira but I promised them that I would let her come back by herself.

    It had been about an hour since I had seen Adira and I was starting to get worried. I look around to see if I can see her anywhere and I can’t. I then look around for Hayden knowing that what Everett said he saw as a challenge. Sure, enough I don’t see him anywhere. Titan is getting agitated that we don’t have our mate near us and that we don’t know where she is. I take off towards the beach trying to follow her scent. When we get to the beach, I don’t see her anywhere. I mindlink Everett to see if he knows anything.

    ‘Have you seen or heard from Adira? She isn’t down by the beach and I don’t see Hayden anywhere either.’

    ‘Haven’t seen her either I have been a little preoccupied I found my mate! I will go grab my phone and see if she tried to get ahold of me. If Hayden is anywhere near her, I will kill him I promise.’  He linked back. I was happy that he found his mate, but I would like to know where mine is and why we can’t find her. I start to make my way back to the party. As soon as I reach the fire Everett links me.

    ‘She texted me and said that she got a ride home because she was cold after going for a swim. She also said she didn’t want to ride home with us because we were being assholes.’ 

    ‘I will go to the house and make sure that she got there ok you enjoy the rest of the party with your mate.’ I said.

    I decided it was faster to shift and run rather than drive because I didn’t want to have to try and find my brother. I undressed behind a tree and let Titan take over. He pushed forward and ran as fast as he could pissed that I didn’t let him out sooner to find her.

    Right before we get to the house I stop and shift back putting my clothes on. As I come out of the woods, I see a car pulling away. I recognize the car and know who owns it. I will deal with Hayden and his brother Holden later right now I need to make sure that Adira is ok. I run up to the door and knock hoping that Adira won’t answer so I don’t have to explain why I am checking up on her. Also, I don’t know if I could control myself at this moment after knowing that Hayden’s scent is probably all over her. It would drive Titan crazy.

    After a minute Bernie comes to the door, “Aries what are you doing here at this time? Are the boys ok?” He asks with any eyebrow raised.

    “They are doing more than ok they actually both found their mates tonight, so I am sure that they won’t be back tonight.” I tell him with a chuckle.

    “Actually, I am here to make sure that Adira got home safely. She didn’t tell the boys that she wanted to leave she said she got a ride with a friend, so I wanted to double check.” I say.

    “Yeah she just got home and went right upstairs to her room. Did something happen that I should be aware of?” He asked

    “Yes,” I sigh rubbing my face. “Dark Moon showed up and she got suspicious of the confrontation, but we didn’t tell her anything which made her mad.”

    Bernie nods his head understanding “Whelp I told Jack it would be hard this last month especially being up here to keep this from her. She is just like her aunt and her mother that way very observative. I will keep you updated, and I hope you will do the same.”

    “I will do that Bernie. Everett and Elijah will probably stay at the packhouse tonight. “See you later Bernie. Thank you.”

    I decide to text Elijah and Everett when I get home and I will deal with Dark Moon and Hayden tomorrow.
