Chapter 21

Percivus

For the  last few moments, I was afraid to move, Carmen had sensed Vera's presence and she was very close to catching us. It had taken one of her most powerful spells to prevent her from catching us. After that close call, it had spoiled the mood for the both of us.  Vera had been quiet for a few minutes, "What are you thinking?" I asked her.  "She is powerful, more powerful than she may even know. She has sensed me every time that I had been near. I am sure that you heard that she sensed and killed two powerful witches in a matter of seconds." She said

"So, she is a witch werewolf hybrid?" I asked. Vera simply shook her head, "I am not sure what she is to be honest, I have had her close and could not sense her." Vera said. I knew that I had to be extra careful. I had to come up with another place for Vera and I to meet.  Feeling frustrated and unsatisfied, I grabbed a jacket and went outside.

Maybe some cool air would calm my nerves a bit. Walking and thinking. I was so deep in thought that I did not keep track of my own surroundings. I thought back to having Silas family killed. If Vera would have followed my instructions then things would be much different. I would be sitting king, Maddie and I would be in love. Everything would be perfect. Yet, here I was scratching for a little bit of power. My wife was divorcing me. I could not even enjoy the benefits of beings the king's father. At least when she finally killed Silas' granddaughter, I would get a little satisfaction.

"Well, look at this, look who finally came out of hiding" said a deep voice. Oh s**t, I knew that voice well. "Alpha, what brings you out this time of night." I said with a shaky voice. Before I could say anything else, I felt the impact of his fist under my chin. I staggered back. I thought on calling on the pack, but remembered that the council had taken my ability to link away from me. " I been thinking for days, how I should kill you. Especially after meeting your daughter in law. A wolf so powerful that she can kill two powerful witches within seconds. A fact that you forgot to tell me. Another fact that you forgot to tell me was that she is next in line to be queen. As a matter of fact, you told me that she was a peasant." He said with a kick to my ribs.  "You also promised me that my daughter would  give birth to a child with a royal bloodline and Malcolm would be easy to kidnap. None of that which is true." He said with another punch to my abdomen.

"Now my daughter has started to go into heat and you are going to make sure that she has a royal child or here will be your final resting spot." Alpha Silver snarled. I began scanning the area, trying to find anywhere that I might escape. I prepared myself to die. There was no way that I could defeat an Alpha as powerful as Axel. 

"I also know your little secret. The cute little witch that you f**k every chance that you get. You see, Vera and I have done a lot of work together. Imagine my surprise when she told me of your little affair." He said as Vera came walking up to Axel side. "You traitorous bitch." I growled at her. 

Axel looked at me with a smirk, "I am surprised that you would talk to someone like this that share your bed. Yet you talk to your sexy little wife even worse. " Axel said.  " I won't stand here and allow you to disrespect Vera like this, especially when she is pregnant with your child." I froze, I felt my heart racing. "Pregnant" I whispered. 

Vera sneered at me, " I am surprised that you did not notice that my stomach was rounder. Even us dirty women as you say, get pregnant from time to time." She gave an evil smile, "I hope this will not interfere with getting back with your wife." She said with a little pout. I looked from Vera to Axel and realized that hey had planned this. I stood up and attempted to grab her by the throat. " You tricked me, you sick bitch." I snapped at her. 

Axel grabbed me by the neck, "I warned you not to disrespect her. What type of man disrespects a woman that is carrying his child?" He said plainly. I did not know that it was possible to feel fury and helpless at the same time. I heard more footsteps. I felt a bit of relief knowing that I did not scent another member of the Silver Moon Pack. I could not believe that I could be so easily deceived. Vera had shared my bed for the last year and she did not let on once that she even knew of the Silver Moon Pack. She definitely did not mention that she knew Alpha Axel personally. I understood that Axel would be angry with me, but I had no idea why Vera would be upset enough to put my life in danger.

I looked at her, ignoring the approach of someone else, "Why would you betray me Vera? We have known each other for a very long time. We have also shared a special bond for over a year. You knew that I would never be able to explain a child, but you allowed yourself to get pregnant anyway? Why?" I asked her trying to make sense of what was going on in front of me. She took deliberate steps toward me until we were eye to eye. "I warned you never to disrespect me. You made a point of telling me how much better your wife was than me and how I was just village pussy." She looked me in the eye as she was daring me to deny it. I did not have anything to say. She was right, I did say those things.

"Wow, seems things are a bit tense out here." A young attractive man said. As soon as Axel saw him, he began to growl. The young man seemed unbothered. "Lets not do something that we both will regret." He said. "Just know that if you are lucky enough to kill me, before the sun rises again, I guarantee that every member of your family will be dead." He said with confidence.

"What the hell do you want?" Axel growled. "I overheard your conversation and I have the solution to all your problems," He said. Axel let out a loud laugh, "Do you now, please tell us how you can solve all these problems?" He asked. "First of all, you want a grandchild with royal blood, I can give you that. I will impregnate your daughter." He said as though he was mentioning a walk in the park." You have royal blood." Axel asked skeptically?" Vera walked closer to the young man," Really Axel, you can't see it? He is Fenris' son." She said with an eyeroll.

Suddenly very interested, Axel walked up to him, "So that would mean any child that you produce would be second in line to the throne? What do you want in return?" He asked with narrowed eyes. "I ask very little. I want Percivus. You can do whatever you want to him, as long as you leave him alive. Do we have a deal? Stephen asked extending his hand.
