Chapter 29

Silas When Ahrayna and I had gotten the link from Paul, we were terrified to say the least. Not only were we a great distance from my kingdom, we had very little details. All we knew was that there was extreme danger. We had switched from running to transport to riding my wife on my back to get back to the kingdom. When we had reached the Spane Manor, we and our wolves were exhausted. I wanted to yell out to Fenris and Paul, but I thought better of it. If there were danger, I could possibly put us in more danger by announcing our whereabouts. I could feel my wife's heartbeat through her fingers when I took her hand. She was afraid, very afraid. The truth was, so was I. Everyone that we loved was in danger. Or even worse, they could be dead. We walked by the side of the manor as quietly as we could. We both paused when we heard a noise. Listening intently, I could hear crying. It was not any ordinary crying, it was heartbreaking, soul stirring sobs. My wife and I exchanged worried glances. When we stepped around the corner, that is when we saw the source of the tears, it was Pauline. My heart skipped. Why was she alone? Did something happen to our girls? Did something happen to Fenris or somebody else that we loved? Ahrayna was shaking so hard at this point that I was beginning to worry over her. "Pauline?" I said cautiously. She continued to cry and did not notice us. "Pauline?" My wife said a little bit louder. She turned to look at us and it broke our hearts. None of us had seen her that way and it only intensified our worry. I was about to step to her when Enza came out the door with a glass of water. Behind her, Breonna was carrying Janae and a small blanket. My wife nearly collapsed from relief when she saw our kids and grand daughter was okay. Breonna sensed us immediately and looked up, "Mom and Dad, thank the Moon Goddess that you are okay. We were so worried." She said, not completely taking her eyes off of Pauline. I looked from Pauline and our children, "What is going on? We got a link from Paul saying extreme danger." I asked. Before either of my girls could speak, I spotted movement within a few feet from us. I was immediately on alert. The figure appeared before me and I recognized him immediately as Lawrence, the Beta of Leonna's pack. What the hell was going on. Leonna's pack never came this far in the kingdom unless it was a war. Even during the war in the North Forest last year, she did not intervene. This was bad, very bad. I watched him bow before me, "Your majesty, I am humbled to be in your presence. Let me offer my service to you. You have always been...." He was saying before my annoyed growl stopped him mid sentence. "f**k all of that!" I growled. "What the hell is going on?" I snapped. Before he could answer, Pauline rushed before me and fell to her knees in front of us sobbing, " I am so sorry, all of this is my fault. I should have known better. I should have seen it. I am a failure as a mother and a wolf." I looked up at my daughter who had tears in their eyes. Although I felt for Pauline, she had said a lot to say nothing. "Somebody tell me what the hell is going on. NOW!" I thundered. I watched Breonna hand Janae to Enza and began to walk toward us. She touched me on the arm, "Please calm down father, there is a lot to tell." I stood there frozen as Breonna told me everything. She told me everything from Carmen's suspicions to Leonna's visit. She went on to tell me all the treason committed by Stephen and Carmen's biological family locating her. I glanced at my wife and her hands were over her mouth in shock. " Are Carmen, Malcolm and Maddie safe?" I asked. Enza looked at me with worry,"I do not know, Carmen was very upset when she left. My guess is that she went back to the palace with Malcolm and Maddie. I cannot shake the feeling that everything is not okay." She answered honestly. I let go of my wife's hand and looked her in her eyes, "Sweetheart, I need you here. I know the strength of your wolf. With you and the girls, I know that this manor will be protected. Nobody would be foolish enough to attempt an attack." I kissed her deeply and shifted to my wolf. Within seconds, I heard the pissed off roar of Malcolm. Malcolm My wolf was fighting to get out, so was I. I awoke to a woman that I had no idea who she was. It took me a good five minutes to realize that she had to be Carmen's birth mother. There was an undeniable resemblance and I had heard her description many times from my wife through her dreams and visions. "Who are you?" I asked to confirm my suspicions. She looked at me with the most unusual tawny colored eyes I ever seen. Surely she had to be an hybrid. "My name is Elena. I am your wife's mother." She said watching my reaction carefully. I sit up and found I was light headed due to the witch's spell. "Where is my mate?" I asked her. She looked at me with kind eyes,"You need to rest." She told me. She walked up to me,"As soon as you get your strength back, I will tell you everything you need to know about your mother and your wife." She tried to assure me. I immediately bolted up. "What are you talking about, My wife and my mother?" I roared. I stood up fighting the dizziness and started to call for my mother and Carmen throughout the manor. Where the hell were the servants and why did it look like a war had happened in here? Elena came running to me," Malcolm you must rest!" She said. Ignoring her, I continued to call out for them. After several minutes, it was obvious that nobody else was around. I became frantic and began to toss furniture around the manor. That's when I saw the small round emblem on the floor. When I picked up it, I immediately recognized the decor. "The Silver Moon Pack." I hissed. I should have killed that Axel when he first came to visit me and he would not have been a problem now. I leaned back my head and let out a pissed off roar. I would kill him for touching my wife and mother. "Where is my father?" I asked. She shook her head, "I haven't seen him since I been here." I was furious. It was because of Percivus that all of this was happening. If he were not my father, I would have killed him myself. I looked up just in time to see Silas walk in. I walked up to him, my uncle, the one man that I could show weakness around, "He took them Uncle. He took Carmen and my mother." I said obviously shaken. "Who?" My uncle asked. "Alpha Axel Silver." I sneered. No sooner than the words had came out, a loud blast shook the palace. Followed by cries and yelps of other werewolves. We all turned and looked at each other, "What the hell was that?"
