I was shocked and concerned to see Carmen's reaction. Even while pregnant, she was never the emotional type and it made me think that there was something to worry about. If it was just a case of sibling rivalry, it would have shown way before now. Carmen was not a jealous person and her intuition was not to be ignored. She was honest to a fault. I knew that my parents would not listen to me. I felt in my gut that they was something wrong. I felt that the best action would be to link with some members of the pack and have them provide additional protection for us. I needed to talk to Cheryl, she knew something and I would find out what that something was. I got up to get another cup of coffee, when I saw the looks on Enza, Andre and Breonna's face, I knew that they believed Carmen as well.
I started to think of the conversation that I had with Stephen. It was no way any werewolf could forget about seeing a Great Warrior Wolf that appeared to be a hybrid. A wolf could go a lifetime and never ever hear of anyone seeing one. I would be surprised if there were ten of them that ever even existed. He said that humans was chasing the wolf. No regular human would chase a wolf that size. It had to be werewolf hunters. If it were werewolf hunters, why did they not capture him and Cheryl. Not only did they not capture them, they had let them live their life as usual. Something was very wrong with their story.
I was relieved when I heard a knock on the door. I was hoping that it was Carmen. She should not be out fighting battles alone while pregnant. This would give me the opportunity to get more answers and let her know that we did believe her. I opened the door and was more than surprised to see Luna Princess Leona. She was a striking woman. She was the half sister of Queen Ahrayna. Beautiful to perfection. She had creamy light mocha colored skin. Her hair was jet black with a few light blonde highlights. Her eyes were the same hazel color of her nieces.
She was serious to a fault. I don't think anyone had ever seen her smile. Her pack patrolled the perimeter of the kingdom. To see her this far into the kingdom was a cause for concern. She did not make social visits at all. " May I come in?" She asked. I stood back and welcomed her in. When the others saw who it was, they all stopped what they were doing to see what she had to say.
"Luna, what do we owe the honor of your presence.?" I asked genuinely curious. "Have you seen Carmen?" She asked. Pauline spoke up. "She just left fifteen minutes ago. Why? Is there something wrong?" She asked with concern in her voice. "Do you know if her family was with her when she left?" Leona asked scanning the room. "Her family? Do you mean her biological family? I did not know she had found them." Pauline said " Leona looked at Pauline with her piercing eyes. "She didn't, they found her by tracking Stephen and Cheryl, which was by accident. The council and myself felt that it would be safest for her not to reunite with her family until all of this was ironed out." Leona explained. Fenris pushed Pauline aside. "What do you mean that they were tracking Stephen and Cheryl. What the f**k is going on Leona?" Fenris growled
Cheryl
I had heard the entire conversation. I looked out of the window for somewhere to escape. The entire property was surrounded by powerful wolves. There was no way that I could possibly get out. When I heard the footsteps coming up toward my door. I knew that there was nothing else that I could do but tell the truth and hope that I was not executed. My normally sweet mother grabbed me by the arm and nearly pulled me down the stairs, She yanked a chair out and shoved me in it, "Sit!" she demanded. Leona circled me and bent down looking me in the eye," Did you and Stephen know that the Great Wolf was Carmen's father?" I nodded and began to cry. I cried from fear and what I had done to my family. "Why is he tracking Stephen? Is there something that Stephen wants from them? Why would you betray your family? Leona asked, spouting out questions faster than I could answer them. It did not matter because I was so full of hurt and self loathing that I could not get words to form.
Fenris looked at me and thundered, "f*****g talk Cheryl." I jumped at the sound of his voice. I could never remember my father ever yelling at me. My mother and brother was looking at me like someone that they did not know "Stephen wants their blood and tissue" I said. "What the hell for?" Paul asked me. "They are not regular hybrid wolves They are tribrid wolves. He had tried to attack all of them and nearly died each time. When he found out about Carmen and she was untrained, he had set a trap for her, but she had learned the defensive shift from her parents and he did not anticipate that she would be so fast, but he felt she would be easy to kill. Last year war was his doing, he felt that he could quickly flush her out and kill her and nobody would know. She disappeared right after the war and we had found out that she was here. He wanted to wait for a while before we appeared because he did not want it to look suspicious. When we got here, it was too late. Malcolm and Carmen was mated and she was pregnant. Her blood would not be of any use until after she gave birth." I explained. Paul was looking angrier and angrier by the moment, "I do not understand any of this. Why is this blood so important to him," He growled. I looked down ashamed of the answer that I knew that I had to give, " A few years after we had gotten to the human world, Stephan had sold me to werewolf hunters. They had figured out, if they were injected with tribrid blood shortly before impregnating a full werewolf, that they would have powerful werewolves or human looking tribrids that were more powerful than any human could be. When I found out his plans, I slipped out in the middle of the night to come back here where I would be protected. Stephen sent the werewolf hunters after me. They left me bound with silver rope for days until I learned my lesson. I was unable to leave the human world until he needed me to get close to Carmen. My plan was to plead my case to the council and get protection. I knew that if I tried to stay once he had what he wanted that he would call war on my family and I could not live with that.' I began to cry so hard that I felt like I could not breathe. I saw from the corner of my eye, my mother's hurt and anger," I promised her that she could always trust me and look what I have done. She brought me the truth and I dismissed her. I am going to find her and will not give up until she forgives me," Pauline said. "No! You wait for us here. " Fenris said. He looked at Pauline, " You know what I must do. I am the only one that will make it quick as possible. I do not want you near that." Fenris said. Everyone knew what he meant, but nobody wanted to say it. Fenris would probably have to kill his own son.
