Fenris
I watched Paul and Malcolm give me sideways looks. I could not fault them. When I was young, I was the same way about Pauline. It took me to see her in battle to realize that she was chosen as my mate and Luna for a reason. She was not as helpless as I thought that she was and she was not reliant on my constant protection.
I watched Carmen and the twins talking on the training field, giving Andre the perfect time to attack. I knew that my son did not like this idea at all. I also knew that he was angry at me for suggesting it, but he would thank me for it later.
I nodded my head and Andre ran full speed toward the ladies. Although I had seen them do this counterattack before, I was anxious about seeing it again. Before Andre reached them, the twins had quickly separated themselves and hit the back of both of his legs with the fighting sticks. Andre went sailing into the air. Carmen leaped in the air unto Andre's back bringing him down hard on the ground knocking the air out of him.
Before Carmen had touched the ground, she had immediately shifted into her wolf. The twins shifted just as quickly as she did. The large wolf came barreling toward them. Enza crouched down, biting the wolf on his belly, headbutting his stomach at almost the same time. Before they could circle him. He leaped in the air to come down on Carmen's wolf. In a bolt, Breonna leaped and grabbed his hind quarters. In a simultaneous move, Enza come from below his neck and Carmen jumped on his back, pulling his head back. In an actual battle, Enza would have slashed his throat.
When the big wolf hit the ground with a thud and a yelp, he lowered his head in submission. I smiled at how good they were. To add insult to injury, they leaned back their head and gave a victory howl. I chuckled at them. Paul and Malcolm looked impressed but in shock at the same time. They went behind the shades on the field to change. All this time I had not noticed that the silhouettes could be seen through the shades. I followed Malcolm's eyes to see that he could see Carmen almost perfectly as she changed clothes. I debated whether to say anything or not, but decided against it. I would not embarrass him. I knew Malcolm's secret and I could not imagine what he was going through.
I also knew that we had limited time. I had to talk to Malcolm. I had put it off because I wanted to see how he was going to progress. The bond that he and Carmen shared was very powerful. We had hoped that we would find Carmen's biological parents before her marriage, but we did not think that it would be possible at this point.
I watched Paul walk to the field laughing and teasing a limping Andre. Normally Andre would laugh with Paul, but this time he snipped him. I chuckled at the two of them. They were so close. I wished the remainder of my children were as close as the two of them were. Yet my other children decided to live in the human world.
I walked over to Malcolm and there was no way around it, we needed to talk. Not only that, Pauline and the girls needed to have a long conversation with Carmen. "Malcolm, do you have a moment, I would like to speak to you." I said to him. He looked hesitant but he followed me down to my study.
I offered him a seat and poured him a glass of very mild whiskey. I took a seat, " Malcolm, you know that I am not the kind of man to sugar coat my words." I said. He looked at me nervously and nodded his head. "A couple of years ago, you told me that the only woman that you would ever be with is your chosen mate. Is that still true?" I asked. I watched him become very uncomfortable. "Yes, Is that something that is important?" He asked me defensively and sounding embarrassed slightly. I held up my hand to stop him from becoming so defensive," I am not saying anything is wrong with it. As a matter of fact, Pauline is the only woman that I have ever been with, in my opinion, it is admirable." I confessed to him.
"I want you to understand that since you have met your mate, then a lot has changed now." I said. I had his full attention now. " A werewolf was never intended to go through all this waiting and ceremonies to claim their mate. Since you are a virgin, you are going to be more sensitive to Carmen's scent, her looks and everything about her. Your chances of falling ill or going into heat during the wait is very high." I explained. "As you know, we are not sure if Carmen has hybrid blood, if she does, she could go into heat at any moment since meeting you."
I stood up and walked to the window and watched Carmen playing with Janae, "Pauline and I have been entrusted to guard her virginity until the day that she marries. I need to know from you if you are planning on accepting or rejecting Carmen as your mate. If you choose to accept her, then we need to make plans for the two of you quickly." I said
Malcolm looked at me as if I were insane, "There is no possible way that I would ever would ever reject Carmen. I want her in every way, as soon as possible. What do I need to do to make that happen?" He asked eagerly.
Although I wanted to smile at his eagerness, I was very aware of the dangers that his foolish father had put the young couple in as well. It was crucial that we got them married quickly and quietly as possible.
I looked at him straight in his eye, "How soon can you start the courting process without the knowledge of your father?"
