Chapter 3

Aria’s POV I guess it’s been two days already after the awkward introduction in the family. All weird thoughts occurred to me while signing the marriage papers. But Mr. Damien seems so busy that he forgot he has a wife at home. It’s just me and Adrian at the table eating today. “He had some business to take care of, but get used to it,” Adrian said, noticing my curiosity. Bang!!! Bang!!! A knock came from the door. A woman dressed in white heels and a black suit hung perfectly on her body came inside the house. “You are late on your first day,” Adrian said as he closed the door behind her slowly. “Sorry, something came up.” I saw the woman scratch her hair. She seemed very familiar, but Adrian’s huge body was covering almost her whole body, and the only person that came to my head was the last person I’d expect to find here. He turned back and pointed his fingers for the woman to come and meet me. My heart almost jumped out of my body as I watched her come closer to me step by step. “Oh my best…..friend,” I muttered through my tears, and I threw myself into Jasmine’s arms. “What are you doing here?” I touched her face again just to believe this was not my illusion. Jasmine took two steps backward. “Fine, let me introduce myself formally. Good morning, Mrs. Aria. I am Jasmine Tristan, your newly appointed personal assista…” “Personal assistant??” I cut her off. “I thought you said you’ll never work under someone. What are you doing here?” “If that someone is you, I don’t mind breaking my rules a thousand times, no… even a million times, Aria.” Jasmine gave me another comforting hug again, and she rubbed my back and told me, “It’s okay, Aria. I’m here for you.” “Hmm…. I guess my job is done here.” Adrian gave us a warm smile as he picked up his suit and left the house. “We can finally have our time, Jasmine.” I dragged her to my room, and we both collapsed on my bed. “You have something to tell me, right, Aria?” Jasmine said, turning her head just to lock eyes with me. “Why are you late on your first day though?” I asked, trying to change the topic. “You’re changing the topic, obviously,” Jasmine said as she went to touch up her makeup in front of the mirror. “Well, you already know I am married. My mom is still in the hospital, and everything is still the same,” I said with a smile. “So what’s your plan?” Jasmine stretched her hands to touch me. “I don’t know Jas…mine, I really don’t know. I keep wondering why these things keep…..happening to me. As much as I am not a saint, I don’t think I’ve ever hurt anyone.” Tears rolled from my eyes as I tried to speak. “It’s okay, Aria,” she wiped my tears with her left hand and gave me a hug. “For now, let’s find a solution. You have a full schedule to follow.” “Schedule? I thought I’d be at home always since we married for business.” Jasmine brought out her iPad and showed me a full schedule of what is expected from a CEO wife. “So for today, my Adrian commanded that we change your wardr….” “Wait, did you just call him my Adrian?” I folded my hands and pouted as I cut her off. “Yes, that’s my sweet boy,” Jasmine replied with a devilish smile. “I thought you were here for me, Jasmine, not knowing that you have another agenda,” I said with a frown. “Yes, have you forgotten the word that says kill two birds with a stone? But you’re always my first priority,” Jasmine said, pinching my cheeks jokingly. “Alright, I hope you keep to your words,” I muttered. Jasmine’s eyes suddenly flickered like she forgot something important. “Aria, I have bad news and good news, which one should go first?” “Let’s hear the bad news first,” I breathed in and out as Jasmine handed me papers. “RULES OF THE FAMILY” was clearly written on it. Jasmine flipped the pages and started reading the rules. “You must never enter Damien’s room. Never discuss family matters publicly. Lucien is off-limits, avoid him as much as you can. Every movement is monitored. And finally, the family image comes first, and a professional woman would be hired to help you learn the family etiquette.” We both looked at each other before Jasmine moved to the good news. “The most handsome luxury designer is coming to the mansion tomorrow!! Just for you. Guess who is coming??” “You know I suck at guessing,” I whispered with all curiosity. “Oh my God, it’s the famous Valentino De Luca. He’s the most wanted celebrity designer in Los Angeles, known for making women “look expensive.”” “Really?” I picked my phone and searched him up. “Jasmine, he’s f*****g good-looking.” “Yes baby girl, I can’t believe he’ll be my best friend’s designer. How should I dress tomorrow? Should I look sexy or should I just dress casual? Hun?” Jasmine looked at me for an answer. “Thought you had eyes for Adrian a few minutes ago?” I said sarcastically. “Yes, that was a few minutes ago. I want my De Luca now.” “What a crazy bitch.” I pushed her off the bed. “Crazy just for handsome men, my sweet Ari.” Jasmine sat back, and my stomach made some sounds that said feed me. “Time to eat, Mrs. Aria. Let me inform the cooks that our beautiful, young Mrs. Aria is hungry,” Jasmine said jokingly as she exited the room. I scrolled through De Luca’s pages. He’s a really big shot, as Jasmine said. I guess this marriage is not as bad as I think.
