“Where’s Maya?” I asked as I gently lifted Liam. “The wolves took her; they must have recognized her as one of their own.” Charles panted. “Are you ok?” “I think that they had something in their claws because I feel so…off” “Well, you need to get up. We have to make sure that Valerie, Cain and your mother are ok and I’m going to need you to carry Liam because I am in better shape and more able to fight.” He nodded and pushed himself off the ground. He swayed slightly and then stabled himself. I handed him Liam and then we walked, not bothering to step over the bodies. I kept my mind open, waiting, but I sensed nothing. I could feel Valerie and Cain but not the Queen but I wasn’t ready to tell Charles that. He just lost his sister; I wasn’t ready to tell him that his mother may be gone
