RIVER Arriving at Lexi's home, I slipped in through the window and closed it quietly behind me. The last thing I needed was to expose Lexi’s escape route and make her mad at me after we finally made peace. Crossing the room in the dark, I dropped onto the bed, a smile tugging at my lips before I could stop it as I thought back to her and our last interaction. I ended up walking behind her to ensure she got home safely, despite her telling me not to. I knew she was afraid for her body after the cemetery incident. But that was different. I was in the cemetery, which wasn’t the same as walking in the street. Plus, I knew seeing her get home would make me feel better, especially after that strange car followed me. On my way back, my thoughts kept circling back to her like some damn fool
