RIVER “It’s Nelson,” I muttered to Lexi as the screen lit up with Coach’s name across the top, and I felt my stomach tighten. But I put the speaker on and let Lexi answer anyway. "River," his voice came through briskly as he added that he wanted to see me before I went home. I glanced at Lexi, and her eyes widened like someone had just told her she’d been called to the principal’s office. She asked if everything was okay, to which the coach said yes. He then invited me to practice. “I’m going to try a new style, and I understand you aren’t feeling well. So you won't play, but I still want you there.
