The Forbidden Mate

Chapter 7: Evermore Crumbles

Only to be awakened by a sharp piercing scream, the room was dark but felt like it was a hundred degrees. Rosalie jumps out of bed and runs to see where the screams were coming from. But as soon as she stood up she got a face full of smoke and instantly started coughing. Rosalie wraps her arm around her face covering her nose and mouth then makes her way to the door.

She feels the wood of the door and it’s blistering hot. She can see the glow of fire from underneath the door. Rosalie uses caution to open the door as fear floods her. All she sees is the bright embers of the fire leaping from walls, the paint peeling and turning black. Rosalie gives her eyes time to adjust to the fire when she sees a body not even 3 feet away from her door. The body was laying flat on its stomach as if it was trying to make its way to their room. It was burned so badly and had blisters covering the arms and legs, the pajamas fibers were melting to its skin, the hair was scorched and burned off.

Rosalie panics and slams the door shut running over to Lena ,but Lena is gone. Rosalie figured she had already escaped the building. So she grabbed her overnight bag that stayed packed and climbed out the window. Once she was out of the building everyone gathered around her crying hysterically together, They watched the firemen work to put the fire out. But no one has confirmed if anyone was missing, because they were all too scared to actually think about it not wanting it to be true.

After the fire was out the firemen went back in to do their build check. When they came back out they came over and told us they found 6 bodies that remained inside the building. That made Rosalie feel as if her world was being turned upside down. SHe started to look for Lena and Lara but they weren't out there. She then Began to cry as she put it together that Lena and Lara were two of the bodys found inside. Rosalie was beyond crushed, that was the only people that felt like family to her and now they were gone. Rosalie fell to her knees and cried harder heaving to breathe. All the anxiety and depression that she had fought with over the years was now at an all time high. Some of the community came together and opened up their homes for all the survivors of the fire. It just so happens that Clarie and her dad showed up willing to help them and offered Rosalie to stay with them.

They all load up and head towards Clarie’s house. They all head inside and the girls run up and lock themselves up in Clarie’s room for the night. Clarie wanted to have a chance to talk to Rosalie before anyone else in the house could question her. Clarie starts off asking Rosalie if she knew what her true being was. Rosalie looked at Clarie, shocked and stuttered out what are you talking about. Rosalie didn't know how to actually answer that even though she remembers Lara had told her many times that things weren't always as they seemed. Clarie can tell by her reaction that it's going to be a long night.

Clarie starts by explaining that Shoremore Academy was not just your ordinary school. Everyone that attends there is supernatural in some way shape or from. Even though most are werewolves or vampires. Rosalie looks up at Clarie and askes “okay so what are you?” “I'm a were” Clarie responds. Rosalie goes back to thinking and asks Clarie “so that means I'm supernatural” “ yes, that's the only way you can attend Shoremore” Clarie decides to call it a night and crawls into bed.

Rosalie followed suit and slid into the extra bed in Clarie’s room. “Clarie so what's so important about the fall ball you acted like it's a huge deal at school”. Clarie sits up and looks over at Rosalie ``are you sure you can take anymore news tonight ``Clarie asks ''yes, i wanna know what i’m up against' ' Rosalie demands. Clarie gets up and sits on the bed beside Rosalie. The Fall Ball is a very big deal. One you can't go till your 18 years olds, Two the Fall Ball is the time when we are meant to find our mate. “So you're telling me we are meant to find who we will be with the rest of our lives at 18, and there at the fall ball, just like that. Has anyone ever not found their mate?” Rosalie asks

Clarie thinks and tells Rosalie that you're allowed to attend the Fall Balls till you're 25. But most people find thiers within the first two balls they attend. Clarie yawns and Rosalie tells her good night and that they can talk more later. Rosalie tosses and turns thinking about everything that they had talked about. Just as she falls asleep the alarm goes off. It's time to get up and get ready for school. The girls took turns getting ready and ate breakfast. Clarie decides walking to school would be a good idea this morning. “The fresh air will help calm you down”, she tells Rosalie. Rosalie walks along beside Clarie enjoying the breeze they head up the step into the school then both heads to class together. Sitting at her desk Rosalie lost in thought she jumps when someone taps her shoulder from behind. It's the principle “Miss Dark this was brought in early this morning. It was found at Evermore and was addressed to you ``. ''thank you” Rosalie smiled and took the envelope putting it in her bag to read later after school.

The school day seemed to drag on. Finally back at Clarie’s house Rosalie sat down on her bed she was using and grabbed the letter out. She sat there looking at the envelope for a moment. Rosalie tears open the envelope and unfolds it up. The first she saw was a stack of money that fell out of the note. She looked at the letter and it was from Lara.

Dearest Rosalie,

I have been so honored to watch you grow up. I have loved you as my own. You are now at an age where I can no longer help you. You have told me many times you don't feel as if you fit in here at evermore with the other children and that my dear is because you're not like everyone else. I have told you stories over the years that I had thought were myths but I have been furthering my education in it and I found out that there is a whole nother world out there. Which you are a part of. I can not tell you forsure what you are but I figured getting you into shoremore would help with that. I'm hoping you can at least find some family. I have been saving up some money on the side for you cause I know once you find your place in life you will need the money to make it own your own. I love you my little one.

Tears fill Rosalie's eyes as she reads the letter. Claire walks in and sees Rosalie and asks “are you okay?” Rosalie looks up and smiles “i’ll be just fine”. Rosalie places the letter back in the envelope and slides it under her pillow. She then asks Claire if she wants to go Fall Ball shopping.

Clarie shirks and jumps up and down “so your going” Rosalie nods “a good friend well more like a mom wants me to find my place in life and what kinda life will i have without my mate” “that's a very good point so it was a letter from evermore” Clarie asks. Rosalie smiles and tells her “ yes it was, it was the lady who found me when i was 2 years old.” Clarie hugs Rosalie and the girls get ready for bed cause no school tomorrow equals a day full of shopping. They must get ready. The Fall Ball is around the corner.
