A whole day passed. The day was breaking and the rays of the sun crossed the thick forest which surrounded Darkfire City. While the search continued there, below was a whole other universe, a set of adjoining subterranean galleries with solid concrete beams supporting the walls and ceiling, and lit by lamps. This is where Skylar opened her eyes. She was lying on the bed. Her clothes were changed. At first she thought she was in her room in Blackmoon City, but she didn't recognize the place. Skylar sniffed the air, enticed by the sweet smell of chocolate floating around, then she sat up on the bed and put her feet on the floor. Suddenly, a young woman opened the door and entered, leaving the room to be invaded by this voluptuous smell of chocolate that gave Skylar greedy desires. "Finally awake." launched the woman with a soft voice supported by a pretty smile. "I thought you would sleep for eternity." resumed the young woman, watching her watch. "You've been sleeping for exactly thirty-three hours." Taken aback, Skylar just stared at her, wondering who she could be, even though her voice sounded familiar. She sat down next to Skylar and held out her hand. "I'm Lyra, I'm 20 years old." Skylar shook the young woman's hand and replied, "Skylar, 19." The young woman chuckled. "There's no need to introduce yourself, everyone here knows you. You're the wolf who dared date Asher, the son of the terrible Lycan king." ironically, she burst out laughing. "Uh Lyra, if I may say so. Did you save my life?" Skylar asked. "I just picked you up from the river and brought you here. In fact, the one who took huge risks to save you is called Vixel." as she said this, her eyes lit up and she twirled her hair. "He's my mate." "Here we are lycans, part of a very young secret organization founded less than a year ago. We call ourselves 'The Equalists'. I am the leader. My dream is to build a world where werewolves and lycans are equal and live together without hatred and in harmony." Lyra explained before continuing. "But there is still a long way to go. At the moment, there are too few of us to come out into the open and we are not receiving enough funding to grow quickly. Our allies within are still afraid that we will fall and that we will drag them down with us." Lyra noticed that Skylar had stopped listening to her for a while. She seemed lost in thought. "Heh hoh! Skylar is coming back down to earth?" "Excuse me." Skylar gasped, as if snapped out of hypnosis. "Can I see Asher again?" "You're thinking about him aren't you?" Lyra said, a teasing, mischievous smile tugging at the corner of her lips. Embarrassed, Skylar just smiled shyly. "Yeah, I think he'll come as soon as he can. But first Vixel needs to explain to him what happened and the surveillance and manhunt they started goes down a whole little bit. So you may have to wait several days." Lyra got up from the bed where she sat next to Skylar. "Take the opportunity to recover, you need to regain your strength. And happy to have met you, Skylar the werewolf." "Glad to meet you and thank you for getting to know you, Lyra the Lycan." At these words they both burst out laughing. Lyra's jovial nature was almost contagious. "I'm going right now to bring some chocolate." Lyra finished before opening the door. A young woman stood at the entrance and Lyra walked back to Skylar. "I present to you Twilight, my assistant. She is very efficient, but her worst flaw is her indulgence, wild berries. Now you know everything about her." Then Lyra walked out of the room and turned to Twilight. "Follow me, we have our work cut out." Twilight waved her hand at Skylar and gave her a sparkling smile before closing the door. But neither Lyra's good humor nor her perfumed chocolate were going to be enough to make Skylar's sadness disappear, as she saw the time that separated her from Asher's arrival as an eternity. She missed him terribly as she lay on the bed. When evening came, Skylar was stretched out on the bed, still in awe of the incredible turn her life had taken. She was reminiscing about the times spent with Asher when she heard a voice similar to his in the hallway outside the room where she was. She sat up abruptly, her eyes wide with surprise, then the door opened, Asher appearing in the frame. Their eyes met and a wave of stifled emotions rose within her. He was there, in front of her, in flesh and blood. She couldn't help but shed tears of joy when she saw him, his handsome face and imposing figure immediately reassuring her. Asher slowly approached the bed, as if afraid it was all a mirage. "Skylar," he said in a shaky voice. "Asher," she replied, standing up, also shaking with emotion, her eyes filled with love and relief. Asher held out a hand, which she came to grasp delicately, as he pulled her up against him to envelop her in his arms. She buried her face in his chest, savoring the scent of his skin and his reassuring presence. She felt his warm and reassuring embrace, and felt her heart racing at this closeness she had so longed for. Lyra looked at them with a benevolent smile, then closed the door behind her, leaving the two lovers alone. "Asher, you can't imagine how happy I am to see you. I was told you weren't coming right away..." she said, her voice choking with emotion. "They wanted to make sure everything was calm to avoid trouble. But I couldn't wait, even though I took a huge risk to be there," he confessed, pressing his fingers along her spine. "I couldn't stay without seeing you." "Were you really hurt?" he asks, looking at her with deep concern. "It's been hard. But now I'm fine. I'm just so happy to see you again." She replied, relief in her voice. Asher hugged Skylar to him, her tears mingling with his. They stayed like that, huddled together for a long time. "I still can't believe you're here," Skylar said. Asher cut her off with a languorous and long kiss that sent her on a journey. He had no longer known the voluptuous touch of the soft lips of the one to whom his heart belonged, while Skylar had, for a moment, forgotten her own existence. "I realize how much I love you, Skylar." "I love you even more, Asher," they finally said to each other to catch their breath. Then, slowly, Asher laid her down on the bed behind her and she blushed. He brutally took off his shirt and moved closer. His chest seemed to be carved out of stone and his evenly aligned pecs looked as if they had been forged from steel. The scars from his recent injuries were still visible, but they made him even more strong and attractive. Once on top of her, he rested his elbows on the bed, framing her with his muscular and reassuring arms, then he looked her straight in the eye. Asher slowly removed the straps from Skylar's dress, then lowered them, exposing her breasts. Skylar was all exhilarated, let it go. All her senses were awake to enjoy every moment. And as if to make the moment last forever, Asher kissed her again. In this room he would not have known it existed until recently. The night was busy and when day broke, Asher had left the underground, which served as a base for the very young organization of the Equalists, to discreetly join Darkfire City by another secret passage shown by Vixel, but it was necessary to borrow a shallow arm from the river. When he left the night before, he had left open a window giving access to his apartment. As he climbed the wall to access this window, he was aware that his knowledge of the existence of such an organization without denouncing it was high treason, but he found ridiculous these laws which prevented him and prohibited him from living in broad daylight with his sweetheart. But the day will come when he either has to stand up against his people so he can live with Skylar, or convince them that their laws are absurd. But for now, he was dwelling on the tender moments he had spent the night before with Skylar. He could still feel the touch of her skin and the warmth of her body. Ginger had woken up early to join Asher. And passing through a corridor she heard a noise similar to the creaking of a window. She stopped and opened the door. What was her surprise when she saw Asher jump out the window and land on the floor? "Asher, where are you from?" she asked.
