Chapter 4: The Creator of All Chaos

"Hey... you dropped this?" I said shyly, approaching them quietly. Apparently, they hadn't noticed me, because they were rambling quietly to themselves. They shook their head from side to side while they angrily picked up their split items. "Bad s**t always happens to me." They huffed angrily. I tapped them softly on the shoulder and took a quick step back. The person, whose gender I failed to discover, nearly leaped from their skin. They quickly turned around and backed up to their car as they put their hands out in defense. It almost looked liked an automatic response. "Hey I'm sorry, I said..." She trailed off as she finally caught a glimpse of me. Her mouth clamped shut and her eyes turned hard. "Yes?" "Sorry to bother you, but you dropped your... erm... ball?" I handed it to her shyly and turned around with the intentions of leaving. However, her hand on my shoulder stopped me mid step. "Thank you!" Her eyes soften. I nodded and continued on to the door of the school. "I've never seen you around here before. Are you new?" She trailed after me, but not before closing her car door, basketball in hand. I was debating whether I should ignore her or pretend like I didn't hear her talking to me. But then considered how rude that would be and would make a bad first impression. Instead I settled on pretending like I wanted to talk to her. So to continue the conversation, I responded to her question. "Yes." I smiled, but not specifically at her. "I'm Shala, sorry for being so rude earlier." She sped up just to turn around directly in front of me and she held out her hand with genuine excitement. I was skeptical at first, but took her hand with caution. She seemed nice enough. I smiled at her and nodded my head and began to circle around her to finally enter my destination, Hell on Earth. I sighed but continued to the door. As I entered the well lit school, I took a moment to take in the halls while it was empty. "Beautiful, isn't it?" Because I had no idea she was still with me, I almost jumped out of my skin in terror. I stopped walking to catch my heavy breath and to slow my racing heart. I could still hear her laughter in the distance as she walked away. She was slightly hunched over as she walked and her shoulders shook with her soft laughter. I smiled, but continued walking. After about 15 minutes of walking through the vacant halls of Golden Oak High students started to slowly pool in. And the ones that were here this early, where what one would consider the nerds. There heavily filled backpacks were slung over their backs, weighing them down, some struggled to open their lockers or find their classes. I watched them with their glasses perched high on their nose or some without glasses. Scrolling in after the nerds were the Jocks and the preps all grouped up entering as if they were Gods and Goddesses. The girls with their sharp high heels, slicing through every inching of the hall circling in on the hottest jock in their peripheral. And the jocks, tossing footballs, basketballs, while strolling the haul casually. I could see a few of them eyeing the preppy girls and some of them eyeing the people in their way in annoyance. It was a typical day for them. Everyone fell into their rightful place. Some lurking in the shadows wishing not to be seen seen and some pranced around haughtily wishing to be seen. Everyone had their role, some played better than other. It didn't take long for me realize who the popular kids were. And surprisingly they didnt look like your typical douchey jocks and cheerleaders. The looked more chill than one would assume. The girls stood slumped to their lockers while the boys stood in the middle of the hall. What completely confused me was the fact that none of their perfect bodies were clad in anything that represented extra curricular activities or athletics. One would ask the question, how do I know these are the popular kids. Their demeanor screamed money, ferocity and a little bullshit. Everything seemed to move around them, time itself warped for them. The laughter and smiles carried down the hall and we all were mesmerized. How could these mere humans be such the object of attention? Breaded with the particles, made of the same organs, yet they impacted a near population with the intake of their breath. Among these popular students were 3 boys and two girls. The boys appeared slightly more groomed than the girls, which was a surprise. Because usually girls in the lime light cared more about their appearance more than anything. And it was refreshing to see something different, for the first time. I watched as they all interacted with each other, listening to what each had to say. They seemed to enjoy each others company and everything seemed very natural among them. Among them stood the tallest boy, I couldn't gauge his height from my current position, but he appear almost a head taller than the other ones, who where considered slightly taller than average. I couldn't see his face from where I stood, but I could see the lean muscles in his back and his short dark hair. He work khakis and a pale blue shirt along with loafers. He stood casually with his hands in his pocket and his head held high. They all stood along a wall of lockers facing each other. Standing next to him, one of the guys slightly shorter than. His platinum blonde hair seemed to reflect the sun peaking in through the window. I couldn't see his face from here, but judging by the girls swarming around them I'd say they were probably quite attractive. His attire consisted of all black, black slacks, black button down and a pair of black Van's. I smiled to myself at our similar liking for the color black. Facing my way stood the golden boy of the school, so it appeared, literally. Because he was standing directly in the line of the sunshine coming in through the large hall windows. His curly locks, reaching his jaw law resembled that of caramel, sweet, supple and nice on the tongue. His chestnut waves framed his taut jaw line and the dimples in his cheeks as he grinned at what his friends were saying to him. One would consider him, 'a classic beauty'. He didnt seem be lacking in any physical department. He looked well built, he had a nice smile and he seemed to be quite confident but not arrogant. But looks could be quite decieving. A familiar shriek of laughter sounded up the hallway, as the person I dreaded seeing at this exact moment rushed down the hall. I sunk lower into the lockers hoping she wouldn't notice me as she ran up to the less groomed girls hanging on the wall near One Direction, minus Harry and Zayn. I made sure not to be seen, but I could see her walk up to the tall male facing the opposite direction. She stood in front of him smiling as she wrapped her arms around his waist and he didnt hesitate to retaliate. His hands went firmly around her and he lifted her almost as if she weighed nothing and pulled her closer to his body. I stared at them in envy, but quickly looked away when I felt a pair of eyes on me. I sighed and stood up from my hunched over position on the wall and headed the way I thought the main office was. ***** It didn't take long to recieve my schedule and my homeroom. By the time they were finished first period was halfway through. It was 8:30 a.m. and I had been slowly strolling through the halls on my way to first period. I was trying to process the fact that I had to walk into the middle of class while the teacher was giving a lecture, which would bring me a ton of unwanted attention. Once I reached my destination, I lingered outside the door trying to calm my racing heart. Naturally nothing really helped. I took one deep breath and knocked on the classroom door. I waited in earth shattering silence what felt like 5 minutes but was really 30 seconds. I didn't really look up when the door open, but when I did I gasp audibly. Greeting me at the door were the greenest eyes I'd ever seen, along with a lean figure and platinum blonde hair. I immediately recognized him, but what confused me was the fact that he was in the same class as me. It didnt take much to realize he was also a senior just like I was. But the fact that his looks were also accompanied with smarticles shocked me more than his green eyes did. I was paralyzed for a full 60 seconds, until he cleared his throat and stepped aside to let me in. He also closed the door behind and headed to his seat. I glanced his way, and hesitantly stepped towards the teacher. She looked up from her desk and beamed at me while setting her papers down. "A new face isn't something we see around here often. What's your name sweetie?" Her smiled nearly reached her ears as she grinned at me and the entire class. My eyes grew wide and my face flushed a deep red. It didn't help that every students' eyes were on me. Here I stood, in front of the entire class, face flushed a deep red, resembling a tomato. What a great way to make a first impression. "I'm... Faith." I said barely above a whisper. And headed  to the nearest empty seat, because I was growing tired of all the stares and the awkward silence. It was my luck that math was my first subject of the day. I had no idea how I was to make it through math each morning. Unpopular opinion: Math is actually really fun. The only reason it sucked to have it in the morning is the fact that I fell asleep easily in morning classes. It was my downfall when it came to classes and my grades.  My lack of sleep last night would not help my case at all. I tried my hardest not to fall asleep in the middle of her lecture, but it was just so hard. My eyelids grew unbelievably heavy, and became harder and harder to keep open as time went by. All of a sudden the unsuspecting anxiety and glares where beginning to disappear and I had falling into a deep sleep. My head slumped over the desk and my lips slightly parted drawing out slobber onto my now soaking wet schedule. **** A loud noise, similar to a high pitched screech, that I then realized was the bell signalling the end of class, jolted me awake. I sat paralyze for a minute, shaken by the sound of the bell and confused about my current location. I then realized I had been in Math class dead asleep. I slowly lifted my head from the desk to see that everyone was gathering their things and slowly retreating to their next class. I wiped my face as quick as I could and grabbed my bag and my schedule folded it up and placed it in my pocket and left for my next class. I didn't notice at first, but the more I listened the more I realized that everyone was whispering rather excitedly about something. I caught slight glimpses of their conversations, but not because I wanted to simply because some of them hadn't mastered the art of whispering.  "Did you hear?" "He's coming back from his trip." "Gosh, I can't wait. I hope he comes back to visit the school." "Geez, I wonder how Ethan feels about this?" The last voice could not be mistaken for a random voice in the crowd, but for the one person I had been trying to avoid the entire day. She had yet to spot me, but the minute she turned her head I was doomed. And I would be forced to hold fake small talk and muster up fake smiles to prevent myself from vomiting all over her expensive shoes. I picked up my speed and attempted maneuvered through the crowd of people unscathed, which ultimately resulted in more attention. As I dragged my heavy feet the crowd bag in tow, my unruly curls caught wind of someones jeweled tote which caused complete chaos among crowd. Me and the perpetrators bag fell head first onto the ground and so did the person walking behind me.  If I didn't want to be seen at first, I was currently the object of attention of everyone in the hall. Including the one person I was trying to run from. The look of recognition and concern were clear on her face, which cause my cheeks to flushed a deeper red. "Hey I know you! Are you okay!"
