Death Won't Stop Me

Are you okay?

As the light slowly dimmed, they saw Eddie inside standing tall. He was now a little giant, about two heads taller than before. His arms were about the size of Ana's legs and his legs were at least double of its size from before. His face was almost covered of black fur and his hair was as long as Ana's. His eyes were crimson and there were no pupils. There were four fangs sticking out from his mouth, two from the top and two from the bottom. His clothes were gone, replaced by black fur which covered almost everything aside from his chest. His hands were so big that it seemed like it would be able to hold Jon's head using just one hand. His nails were as sharp as newly honed knives. And his feet were like gigantic wolf's paws.

"Guardian's Synchronization!" Ana gasped as she saw Eddie's transformation. Her eyes were quaking with dread and beads of sweat were already forming on her forehead.

"Jon! We can't beat him! We have to run for now!" She anxiously whispered to Jon and planned to go away.

"Why?" Jon asked.

"Don't ask for now and just run! Before he comes after us. Quickly!" She seriously looked at Jon.

Jon nodded at her and they both simultaneously ran on different directions. This was their contingency plan in case they can't defeat their opponent even with the two of them. They would run in two separate directions and the one the enemy follows will have to depend on their own to lose the pursuer. Unfortunately, they were not wearing their traction shoes so their speed would be very limited. But still they had to use their full force to run for now.

"Running, huh?" Eddie's voice seemed like a snarling wolf. It felt more like a monster talking than a human. It was spine chilling.

He looked in Jon's direction for a little bit and saw that he was almost gone from his eyesight, but then he smiled. He turned towards Ana's direction then he dashed towards her, leaving an after image.

"Come on, follow me!" Jon was thinking to himself as he was running. He was hoping that Ana could run away from Eddie and could escape towards the spirit world. She would be safe then. She might even be able to come back with reinforcements. But the most important thing for Jon was for her to get away. So he was looking back from time to time towards Eddie as he was running and was glad that he was looking at him.

"Oh no! Ana!" His heart sunk when he saw Eddie suddenly turned towards her and left an after image.

"Tsk!" He grit his teeth changed his direction towards where Ana was running to. "You twisted, sadistic ass!" He cursed out loud as he made a mad dash to catch up.

"Argh! I'm coming, hang in there. Don't die on me, Ana!"

Guardian's Synchronization. That's what people in the spirit world call it when they merge with their guardians. When the guardians merge with their owners, they get a boost in their overall strength. The lowest boost you can get is at least one fold, but the more talented ones could get up to five times. But not all guardians are able to merge with their owners at the ghost realm. They have to at least mutate theirs souls to have a minuscule chance of successfully merging with their guardians.

But there are those souls whose guardians are already able to merge with their owners below mutated realm. Eddie's wolf, Pharaoh, was one such guardian. It's type was one of the feral beast types of guardians with a variation. It had an intangible body which makes it susceptible to merging successfully with their owners. 

It was also due to it's variation that it could boost his power by three folds. This makes Eddie very powerful and almost invincible under mutated realm souls.

"Hah.. Hah.." Ana was panting while catching her breath. She was currently on her knees and was being supported by both her hands. Blood was dripping down from a wound on her head and she was feeling dizzy right now.

Moments ago, Ana was speeding up with all of her might as she was running away from Eddie. As she was almost out of the area, Eddie appeared right above her with his claw slashing down. It was fortunate that her reflex was a little faster than her senses as she ducked to the right and managed to avoid the majority of the s***h with just a thin line, causing the wound from her head.

Eddie got a little irritated that she still managed to dodge that and stayed alive even after his attack with guardian synchronization, so while in the split second that he was still in the air, he sent a fully powered kick to the disoriented Ana.

She has just managed to avoid a fatal strike and was a little bit disoriented, but she did not have any moment to think as another fatal strike was already coming in just a second right after that s***h. She reflexively raised both her arms in a cross to guard her head. She then felt like a sledgehammer hit her arms but it was not that all effective. It soften the blow, but it still hit her head and she shot to the side, dragged a line when she fell down, and still rolled a few more meters till her body stopped.

As she tried to get up, she let out some blood from her mouth because of the injuries the impact has caused.

"How does it feel to be in the other end of the stick?" Eddie asked in a snarling voice as he walked slowly towards Ana.

"Hah.. Hah.. Finish it.. Hah.. Creep.. Hah.. Hah.." Ana still managed to get some words in while trying to catch her breath and waiting for her disorientation to dissipate.

"Hahaha.. Still trying to act tough. I like your attitude. How about I play with you before I send you off? Something to heat you up in your afterlife. If you guys have one." Eddie said nonchalantly as he arrived in front of her. He held her hear with his claw and asked in a grating voice. "So?" He smiled a gnarly smile.

*PTUI* She spat saliva and blood on his grinning face.

Eddie's face darkened. His other hand wiped the spit and blood and looked at his hand. He was getting angrier by the second. She was already at death's door yet she was still struggling against him. This irritated him so much his lust for her disappeared in a heartbeat. His hand formed into a claw and faced it towards her head with all five nails aiming at different parts. He then thrust it to her head without any hesitation.

She closed her eyes and waited for the inevitable. In that second the past few weeks flashed in her mind. She saw how happy she was, no pressure, no worries, no pain. Just with that someone who does not put her down, and just tries to understand her. That someone who still tries to get by even with her latching on, without any complaints. That someone who held her hand as she got scared by the fast rides at the park. "Wait, why am I thinking of him?" Regret suddenly filled her heart. "What am I regretting? Did I really want to stay with him and keep living with him? Or am I regretting not seeing him one last time?" The thought ran very fast in her mind as the claw came at her. But she was not thinking of escape, she was thinking of regret.

Just as the claw was about to hit her, a rumbling sound was heard and the ground shook then a split second later, a very large concentrated blast was heard from her front. The hand that was holding her head suddenly let her go and the claw that was about to take her life never came. Without the hand holding her head up, She fell down again. "Cough.. Cough.." She opened her eyes and looked at her front. Her eyes quaked, and tears started forming in her eyes. There was someone else in front of her, kneeling and looking at her.

"Are you okay?" A voice was heard.

Jon was rushing all the way without any rest. Luckily, Eddie managed to catch up with Ana very quickly so they did not go that far and he was able to catch up. But the moment that he did, he saw from a distance that Ana was already down, vomiting blood while Eddie was slowly walking towards her. Rage filled his heart the moment he saw her condition. He wanted to help her but he knows that he can't beat the current Eddie.

His eyes lit up as an idea suddenly struck him, he urged his seed to stop absorbing and letting out any energies. After he did that, his energy fluctuations were instantly gone and so he rushed to Ana's side. The downside was that he can't run as fast as before, barely faster than a normal human. But the upside was that he could sneak up to Eddie.

He saw everything that happened from then on. He was anxious to get there as fast as he could but he was cautious not to alert Eddie at the same time. When he was almost to their location, almost a small jump forward towards them, he saw Eddie thrusting his claw towards Ana. Without thinking nor any hesitation, he released all of his energy as he shot towards Eddie.

Rumbling noise came from the quaking ground which was caused by Jon's sudden outburst of energy. He gathered all his energy in his right hand and still urged his seed to absorb more energy but not to refine it, but he directed the unrefined energies to the energy already gathered in his right hand.

When he was at arm's reach from Eddie he made a fist and let all the energies accumulated in his hand to pass through the glove as an added touch then punched out without missing any beat. He did all this within a second and would not have been able to do it in any other situation. He was only able to do this through sheer will and anger towards Eddie.

Eddie was startled by all this but it was already too late to dodge or even block it. But due to the shock, his hand paused for a split second before continuing. Determination flashed in his eyes but the split second caused for Jon's fist to hit first before managing to even touch a hair of Ana.

Jon's fist was aimed towards Eddie's left skull. He was thinking that if the force was enough, he could kill Eddie outright without any problems. But if not, he could at least make him sustain enough injury to retreat. A very loud, concentrated blast sounded at the contact of his fist to Eddie's skull.

Eddie shot towards the remains of the demolished mall, causing the remains to topple down completely. Jon landed in front of Ana. He knelt down and looked at her. He saw that her eyes were shaking uncontrollably and tears were forming. His heart ache as he looked at her. He sighed heavily to calm himself then asked her.

"Are you okay?"
