"Blair was what one would consider a special child, she was the first person to ever be able to control the elements from a very young age. But it was how her power grew that had the people in her village sceptical about her. At age five she could make soft cold air come out of her hands, the wind element, at age seven she could make the water droplets on the rocks roll in any direction, the water element. At age eight she shifted soft sands, the earth element, and finally, on age ten, she approached the fire place one evening" Naledi took a sip of her beer, the three men listened closely as Koos had meat on the grill of the fire. "Blair could feel the elements, their nature, how they worked, and on the night of her tenth birthday, it was as if the fire called to her" Naledi reached out to the fire they now sat around, giving a visual demonstration of what she said. "She reached to the fire, and allowed her life force to touch the fire, the fire clung to her and she held it in her hand. But as we all know, fire needs three things to burn, heat, oxygen and fuel, and since Blair's life force was very strong at her age, she couldn't stop the fire from spreading all over her body, since it was the very force surrounding you from the inside out. My mother explained it to me like this" Naledi stood up and held her hand a few inches away from her hip "Your 'aura' flows around your body roughly this thick, it's unseeable, but you can sometimes feel it in another person, it might be a good vibe or a bad one, feeling someone's aura might even save your life one day" Naledi took her beer and sat down again. "Now the fire in Blair's hand, set fire to this aura surrounding her, it was the fuel after all and similar to dry grass, it spread wildly. But it didn't burn Blair, in essence she became a fire elemental, but due to the sudden spread of the fire around her, and not knowing the destructive nature of fire, she panicked and ran, setting fire to at least half the village until she finally dove into a tub of water" Piet chuckled "Fok can you imagine that...? 'ooh so pretty...' Spontaneous combustion 'screams of terror' Whoosh! fire everywhere and the more she ran the more she burns s**t down" He explained and the three men laughed, but Naledi remained quiet, frowning at them angrily. "Sorry" Piet said swallowing. "How do you think any ten year old girl would respond when you set her on fire?" "But you said the fire didn't burn her it only burned her aura?" "Yes, but she thought she was going up in flames, naturally she ran to her mother first for help, which was her tent, but that's where the havoc started. When the villagers had the fire under control, they had a meeting. Blair was asleep because of her ordeal, the fire, like a lantern wic drew her life force out of her body, sapping her dry and making her pass out. But she woke up into an even worse nightmare than being on fire" "Drowning?" Frits asked. "No, her village had decided she was an abomination, or a witch, and needed to be killed" "Fucksakes! Poor kid man!" Koos said. Naledi opened another beer "Poor kid indeed, She ran as fast as she could, to the northern forests of Alaska, her tribe in pursuit with bows, spears and tomahawks" "Tomahawks? So they were native American?" Frits asked. Naledi nodded "The cold was overwhelming to her, she was barefoot and wasn't planning to go into the cold any time soon, but she had no choice. Blair walked until her feet were blue, hypothermia was setting in, then a deep gorge opened up in front of her, she was trapped. All Blair could do was turn to her village and wait, somewhere she knew they were coming, they were hunters, and good at tracking, they will find her eventually. Blair went to her knees and started begging with a bibbering voice 'Please, please don't hurt me' she wanted to cry, but felt her tears make ice crystals in her eyes, then something in front made her look up; a large, black wolf stood watching her, it didn't need to expose it's fangs, or show aggression, it knew by instinct this girl was done for, and will soon be it's next meal. But Blair didn't see a predator in front of her, her parents taught her to respect wolves, they were masters of the hunt, and her tribe would dance around fires, praying to wolves so they may gain strength from the wolf in order to better their own hunt. She reached out towards the wolf and asked it 'please help me' this got a response from it, it drew it's ears back stepping forward once, the wolf knew this girl posed no threat to it, under no circumstance can she stand a chance against it. The wolf even knew she was young, sensing her inexperience, and weakness. But it didn't sense fear from her, not towards it as a wolf at least, it sensed she was afraid of something else, it twisted it's ears then turned it's head to the forest, it heard the footsteps of the hunters approaching. This made it clear to the wolf that this girl was being hunted, and it felt pity" "How can a wolf, an animal feel pity?" Koos asked. "Instinct Koos, it was a she wolf, and motherly instincts can make a female wolf the most dangerous thing on earth of you f**k with its pups. So this wolf, knowing this girl needed help, came right up to her, and licked her face to comfort her" "I'd s**t myself!" Piet said, making them all laugh. "That needed bond the two created, the wolf caring for the girl, but also hungry for her flesh, and the girl, needing help against her tribe, and against the cold, entwined them. The wolf become a spirit, and possessed Blair, turning her into the first werewolf, but that time werewolves looked different from today" She took another sip of her beer. "How different?" Frits asked making her smile. "Lets just say, when the villagers caught up with her, they ran into a wolf standing as tall as a house, and big as a bus" "Did she kill the Fokkers!?" Piet asked. "Well, that's where the story went missing to me, some say she slaughtered them all on the edge of that cliff, some say she only scared them then ran off. All I know is that Blair lived out in the Alaskan mountains until she became a woman, then she set off to form her pack, and for some reason I don't remember all their names, I only remember Alice Del Carchetore and Cleopatra"
