Chapter 16: Everything Right Now
Brittany Rivera had been making eyes at Rebecca across the cabin for the better part of an hour. Rebecca liked her broad grin and curly hair, and the way she made awkward jokes and then apologized for them in the very next breath. But she wasn’t feeling this. She didn’t need to get herself into a mess like the one at general skills camp. She didn’t need to avoid Brittany’s gaze while the other girls whispered about her crying in the showers.
“I’ve got to go work on my summer assignment,” she said, grabbing Gilgamesh and some other notes.
